So who stopped the Library expansion or SCCC move? The KRATS all supported it. It was stopped by Joe Suhrada and a few alert bloggers. The KRATS have almost all the votes on the County Leg. They have all the County wide offices. It gonna change this year.

As far as the NO NEW TAX party this could be the rebirth of the two party system in our County. People in the City and Glenville/Nisky are begging for another option to the tax and spend DEMS. When it's so bad in the City, Roger Hull {Union College} wants to start a party you know the time is right for NO NEW TAX Countywide.

People in this entire country are looking for another viable party with viable candidates. Thank God we have that option here in our little neck of the woods!

Thank God for the NO NEW TAX PARTY. This must go Countywide as the disgraceful REP collapse in Nisky highlights. In the former all REP hotbed of Niskayuna they can't field a Supervisor candidate?

Like Cuba we have one party rule in this County. No DA opposition, no City Council opposition, fill ins and blank nobodies "running", good fiscal conservatives being forced down ballot. The NO NEW TAX PARTY  is ready to fill the vacuum. Come out of the cupboard fiscal conservatives you now have a choice.

...yeah, you and the other 18 people. NOBODY IS CHOOSING RC COLA. There is Pepsi and Coke, get over it and operate in the reality of political life. This is the United States and there will never be 20 minor parties like in the fractured Europe. Wake up, or there will be a dictatorship with armed thugs soon telling you how to dress and comb your hair you dummies. The Republican party is founded on all the principals you espouse. All you need to do is figure out how to make entry into said party without making the everyone angry at you. get involved that way instead of turning the keys over to the bolsheviks. This minor party thing worked SO WELL when you all ran out for Perot in 1992, didn't it?

GB,

If you continue to take shots at my candidacy and make disparaging comments about my qualifications and intentions, you will leave me no choice but to engage you on this forum and expose your reasons for supporting the misguided Republican party committee and, in particular, one of the candidates for Rotterdam Town Board.

I have withheld comment on most of your posts though they have been clearly politically motivated and several directed at me.  I believe that you and I were once friends, but I am learning that friendship, trust, and honor are too readily and willfully sacrificed by those who place self-interests and those of party before others, including the constituents who placed them in office.

You are aware that I have long been a supporter of many who have campaigned for political office with the Republican party endorsement.  My long time support, constituting countless number of hours, numerous signatures on petitions, and hundreds of dollars in campaign donations, which is needed now more than ever, is being sacrificed by a few select "leaders" who have destroyed your party from within.  Though I am not an enrolled member of your party, there are many within your ranks who are unknown and "laying in the weeds", who do not agree with the direction that it has taken, and who are ready for change.  It will occur.  The question is where will you find yourself when the party is resurrected?

I have no problem commenting in greater detail about what has become of your party and the accusations that have been made against several individuals who are associated with it.

I intend to run a clean campaign, focused on issues.  But, if you choose to take the low road, I can meet you there.  It will not be a nice battle.  The ruins that remain will not be easily rebuilt.   And, sadly, friendship and trust will not be restored.  It is YOUR choice.

yeah,,,,,it did.  Two years later(1994) there was the "Republican Revolution" when the Republicans became the ruling majority in both the House of Reps. and Senate after the mid term elections, with new leadership under Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole.  They passed contract with American and welfare reform, getting back to their fiscal and social conservative ideology.(Thanks to Ross Perot)  And six years after that(2000) they won the White House.  In 8 short years, the Republicans squandered both houses and the White House by acting like Democrats. But instead of tax and spend, they borrowed from China and spent.

Are you suggesting that Bush SR. would have won the election in 92 if it wasn't for that pesky Perot offering an alternative?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the budget balanced and America seen the greatest economic growth during the Clinton Administration?

I'm far from a Clinton supporter. I give credit to the House and Senate leadership during those years for their fiscal restraint.  And it would have never happened if Perot didn't challenge the establishment.  Republicans were forced to pick up Perot's message of fiscal conservatism in order to win his supporters.  It was the Perot supporters who ultimately made the 94 revolution possible.

I wouldn't marginalize or mock the No New Tax Party.  The Republicans will need them some day soon.  It's up to the Republicans to make in roads, not the other way around.

Schenectady County Republicans are lazy.  Up to this point they are being out worked.  Mertz and O'connors signed petitions are proof of that.

As a relative new comer to the political realm in schenectady, i have witnessed some rather disheartening behavior conducted by them.

the no new tax party is a breath of fresh air.  candidates who rise above and give the people a real voice.

I will let Lincoln speak for me, since i could never craft words so well.

the no new tax party is our little revolution right here in schenectady and rotterdam.

swear by the blood of the Revolution, never to violate in the least particular,
the laws of the country; and never to tolerate their violation by others."

their Constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to

I'm one of the registered Republicans who doesn't like the direction that the party has been going for a number of years now and there are many registered Republicans who feel the same way. More choices are better, it forces the parties to do what they promise or they will not get elected the next time around.

Brad, i am not taking shots at you at all. I respect your ideals. My response is to the tomfoolery of some of the posters OTHER THAN YOU. I like all of your stands and YOU at least have made yourself conspicuously front and center battling the county liberal Leviathan that runs amok downtown. Very few citizens have been doing that, writing letters, watching the big money moving about.

The GOP needs to be resurrected. It needs good conservatives working in it, not against it. Integrate into the party, not against it if you can. i just don't think handing the entire county over to the dictatorship is a really good idea, if we all can help it. I know several of you don't like the leaders for one reason or another, but some of the crazy conspiracy stories coming out here are pretty silly. Not from you Brad. From some other posters accusing the town supervisor of stealing grant money and misappropriating it, or of some so-called "deals" made with unions, and last but not least- paving roads where his relatives live or also giving his brother tax breaks. These things are being said by so-called "conservatives" who for one reason or another are angry with the GOP.

I suspect that when the county, towns and every last village has gone Democrat, there will be no other alternative or ground-swell of popular uprising like in 1994. That will just be it-it will be over. turn out the lights. There will be an Albany-style machine and a few of us left to provide a peanut chorus. Maybe here on this blog. But will you others still all be bashing the other conservatives in the head instead of focusing on where the real issues lay?

GB...you must realize that people are informed and tired of the dems and the reps and the cons. You are implying that if the reps won't take a seat in the upcoming election...the dems ultimately will. That is being short sighted and an insult to the voters.

Well, what about this no new tax party? Are there some people that will just vote party lines? Sure? Are there people that will just vote in friends, family and friends of family/friends? Sure? Is that the majority? NO! There are 20,000 blanks out there that are blanks cause they are fed up with politics as usual.

Ms.Holly was a dem, turned rep, turned, con, turned dem.....pallleezzee. The only people that will vote for her are her friends and family. Sparky DG, will get the votes of 'most' business people.....a majority? NO! Bob 'no change' aint got a shot! Who is this Martin guy anyway? And I don't quite see rotterdam voting in an employee of the schenectady school system that is failing miserably! So don't worry bout the dems.

Littlefield is extremely conservative and has his past record to prove it. McGarry is non-political and wants to change the status quo in politics. OConner comes with his own admirable record. And Mertz is clearly disliked among the status quo rotterdam politics but has had only the taxpayers pockets in the forefront. ALL of these guys are out there for the taxpayers and the taxpayers only. They are obviously beholden to absolutely no one or no party. Just the taxpayers!

As far as the ridiculous accusation about steve and paving and whatever....the informed voters take that with a grain of salt unless and until it is actually proven. Right now it is ridiculous!

Hey....ya can't believe a thing good ole sal says!
