Let me be quite blunt about it -- the only people who would oppose requiring a photo i.d. to verify identification when a person votes are the people who would resort to voter fraud to win elections. There are literally thousands of examples of INTENTIONAL VOTER FRAUD --- everything from convicts registering by mail and voting by mail ... to those who register dead people to vote and surprisingly many of the dead people are able to send in absentee ballots or show up at the polls.

If you're asking whether there's fraud in the electoral system, yes, there is some, not a lot. If you're asking me if there is fraud at the polling place, then I would say no, we do not have a serious problem with fraud in this country."
Don't confuse 'voter fraud' with 'election fraud'.

And the fact is that Americans are asked to show i.d. for so many things -- to board an airplane, when visiting the doctor's office now ... and even to take books out of the Schenectady County library [ YES .. that is true .. I hadn't used my library card in a few years and was actually asked to show a photo i.d. ] ..... if you are afraid to show an i.d. to vote .. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING ????????????????????????????????????????????/

Wow, I actually agree with DV for once, AND he provided EVIDENCE.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

bigger picture......Mr. Wells
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
United Nations-affiliated election monitors from Europe and central Asia will be at polling places around the U.S. looking for voter suppression activities by conservative groups, a concern raised by civil rights groups during a meeting this week. The intervention has drawn criticism from a prominent conservative- leaning group combating election fraud.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a United Nations partner on democratization and human rights projects, will deploy 44 observers from its human rights office around the country on Election Day to monitor an array of activities, including potential disputes at polling places. It’s part of a broader observation mission that will send out an additional 80 to 90 members of parliament from nearly 30 countries. (The Hill)
"If you live in a swing state or near one, do not just vote and go home. Watch for “concerned citizens” bothering other voters. Take their picture. Check their ID. Let people know that they’re there to slow the line down so people will leave. If they’re spreading misinformation about voter ID, call the police. The right is spending millions to train people to steal this election. Don’t let them succeed."

The observers are arriving at the invitation of the State Department and the behest of a number of civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, ACLU, and others. The latter groups’ call for an international team to keep an eye on the U.S. elections focuses particularly on states that have enacted strict voter I.D. laws and other curtailing of voting rights.

The states should bar the UN observers from being within 100' of a poling place just like any other political organization.
Political observers from "political organizations ARE in the polling places. Observers can "observe" but no one is allowed to campaign for a candidate near a polling place.
I wonder why the Righties are so afraid of trained, unbiased observers... possibly because they might 'observe' GOP Voter Suppression!
