Cicero appears to be one of those people who are incapable of making mistakes... he certainly
is incapable of admitting his mistake.

I'm not surprised.

Box seems like one of those people that can't admit he's wrong when trying to convince us that people don't join the military for MONEY, and an OCCUPATION.  His example of showing low pay, and that joining the military is some sort of holy sacrifice falls well short.  Now he is trying to play Matlock and by asking for a specific quote.  It's laughable.

Alright box, I concede...people join the military do it for the financial benefits.  Just like everybody else in the world that seeks out employment.  Every retiree should then have veteran status for whatever industry they retired from.  You're for equality right?

(I'm not trying to convince you of anything.  I asked you to show where I made that statement.
You can't so you post this instead.)

His example of showing low pay, and that joining the military is some sort of holy sacrifice falls well short.
(I don't think that "joining the military is a "holy sacrifice". Those are YOUR WORDS, NOT MINE.)
Now he is trying to play Matlock and by asking for a specific quote.
(I questioned YOUR MISTAKEN POST.  You ran away from it)

Alright box, I concede...people join the military do it for the financial benefits.
(Not a concession to me and is irrelevant to my post.)

I thought there were no economic benefits?
You just got done telling me soldiers serve as a duty, not compensation.
Which is it box, is the military a service or an occupation?

Since reply #40 I've been asking Cicero to show where I posted that there were no economic
benefits to military services...
Cissy (apparently) can't show it so he continues to change the subject.

I am still waiting... but no response from Cissy.

New question.

People that tried to enlist in the military and "serve" but was denied because of a physical disability, should they get the veteran benefits such as the property tax break?  Wouldn't it be discriminatory to deny benefits to those patriots that were denied their opportunity to "serve"?  How does the veteran status on a drivers license make the disabled feel, just because the military's discriminatory hiring practices denied them their opportunity to serve?

and I guess CISSY had a fleeting thought at one weak moment in his life that he was going to join the military, but then thought better of it....so he deserves Veteran status on his license and the tax credits....

No, you have it backward.  Do veterans "deserve" special treatment when there are disabled people who are NEVER eligible for tax discounts because of their disability?

I totally understand that the military's role is to take the healthy and make them disabled and convince them there is honor in it.

Cicero has family issues with a veteran that seems to be stoking this entire thread.

Exemption for persons with disabilities

Local governments and school districts in New York State can opt to grant a
reduction on the amount of property taxes paid by qualifying persons with disabilities.

To qualify, persons with disabilities generally must have certain documented
evidence of their disability and meet certain income limitations and other requirements.

The basic exemption is a 50% reduction in the assessed value of the legal residence of the qualifying disabled person.
For the basic exemption, the law allows each county, city, town, village, or school district to set the maximum income
limit at any figure between $3,000 and $29,000.

Localities have the further option of giving exemptions of less than 50% to persons with qualifying disabilities
whose incomes are more than $29,000. Under this option, called the "sliding-scale" option, a qualifying owner
can have a yearly income as high as $37,399.99 and get a 5% exemption in places that are using the maximum limit.

Georgia Offers Veterans FREE Drivers License

Quoted Text
ATLANTA -- A new, patriotic design on the driver's licenses of Georgia's veterans was
unveiled on Monday.

The Department of Driver Services announced the design in front of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial
statue at the Pete Wheeler Georgia War Veteran Memorial Plaza in Atlanta. Commissioner Rob Mikell
said Georgia has the fourth largest number of combat veterans who return from Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This is a well-deserved acknowledgement," Mikell said. "Georgia's veterans deserve all the
acknowledgement we can bestow."

The eligibility requirements to receive a free veterans driver's license or ID have not changed.
A veteran is entitled to a free license and/or ID if he/she meets the Georgia residency
requirement, and if the veteran has a discharge under honorable conditions from the Armed
Forces, National Guard or Reserves of the United States for service during a recognized period
of war or conflict.

The board 'haters' probably won't understand this one either!

The brain washing of a nations youth into GI Joe worship.....just what Freud ordered....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Of course - you guys are veterans.  You are special people, you deserve special treatment.  That's what you joined for, you "sacrificed" for the special treatment and to ride around with license plates advertising to EVERYBODY letting them know how special you are. It's the narcissism that profession attracts.

Enlisted military are "special" people.  Like those that rode the little bus to school kind of "special".
