Can you honestly say you receive nothing more than everyone else in society because of
who you are or what you do? Think about it and you might surprise yourself....
everyone gets something that others don't, and not because they feel they are superior or better!

No I don't, I never took any form of government assistance and the jobs I do is what others are willing to pay for my service, I receive no benefits or special treatment, my customers have the option not to use me if they don't like what I charge or how I work. I don't have the option to not pay for your special privileges, that is taking by force and the threat of fines and prison time if I don't comply, see the difference.

Does the veteran status on your drivers license also come with the title "potential domestic terrorist"?  Your own government made that part of what it means to be a veteran.

No I don't...what I see is anger that clouds good judgement.
Why didn't you join the military? You would have the same perks.
Again, what special priviledge do you think I am recieving from the Government
that you are paying for..love to hear that!

You see anger because you are a vet.  I am not angry at all.  You see anger because I don't accept a special status for vets.  That makes YOU angry.  Just because I describe the job of the military, doesn't mean I hate them.  Somebody that takes a job in a standing army takes a job that requires killing on command.  If you join and then refuse to follow your orders to kill, you face the possibility of jail.

I hold the same opinion about strippers and prostitutes.  I don't agree with their occupation and wouldn't want my daughter to become one.  But I don't personally hate the people that choose it as an occupation, I just call it for what it is.

I didn't join the military because I had a job right after high school, a recruiter did try like hell though but I didn't buy into his sales pitch, probably a good thing since 9/11 happened shortly after

What am I paying for, I'm paying for the current military, I'm paying for the VA, I'm paying to make up your tax break just like how everyone is paying for the tax exempt downtown. I'm paying for any military disability compensation you might be receiving, I'm paying somebody extra to make your new drivers license and plate, yes that does cost extra at my expense.

Govt haters Henry and Cicero have no where to vent their frustration, except at Veterans.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaa Boo hoo.  Cry, complain and b!tch all they
want, but they are stuck being US citizens and are afforded protection and service from our Military.

Sorry Henry and Cicero... you are stuck being PROTECTED by the US Military.  It comes with your
citizenship.  You could always reject your citizenship so that much of your military protection would
be removed.

Why don't ya?

Let me address your comments (and ignore the stupidity that Cissy posted)...
I said tell me what you are paying for that "I RECEIVE".
Your taxes (and mine) pay for the current Military....I'm not current military so you are not paying anything for me.
The VA is Government funded (your taxes AND MINE), but I have not and am not using any of their services...so you are not paying this for me!
The tax break is computed into the budget, so you are not paying anything extra to compensate for the tax breaks.....so you are not paying for me.
I am not rcvg any disability compensation or service related disability benefits...so you are not paying this for me.
I have to pay an extra fee for the license and the license plates, so you are not paying that for me.

So again I ask what special priviledge do you think I am recieving from the Government
that you are paying for!

You're right, if it wasn't for your service, we'd all be speaking Vietnamese today.  Those millions of Vietnamese killed by the US government were close to toppling our government and way of life.  Every time I see a military vanity plate, it always reminds me how close we were from losing our freedom.

I disagree about the tax break, ask anyone here about tax breaks when it comes to downtown and they will tell you the rest has to make up for it, that is a fact, it is no different then what you are getting and what I am paying.

As far as the plates go we all pay for it not just you when you go down. What would you pay $25-$30 for it, you think that will cover all the designers, new programs, man hours, no way.

The others I listed might not be what you use but what others vets do, that again is something I pay for. I see why you use the privileges you do but I stand by my statement if you think we are all equal you shouldn't take a dime of it because it is public paid. You volunteered to do a job, that should not be my burden for life because some or even the majority believe you should receive special treatment. This goes for all public workers not just vets, even retired police get exemptions from the laws and receive special treatment, it created a higher class of citizens.

Why do you insist on posting this same ignorant rant all the time...it really makes you
look stupid! You still calmmering over the Civil War too? I mean, if it hadn't been
for the North you'd be talking with a southern drawl, right?

Or we'd be speaking German today, or Japanese today, or Spanish today etc etc etc.

Wars are fought for various reasons at various times.  You may not approve of those wars nor may
I but that has nothing to do with the veterans who fought those wars.

Would we be speaking Arabic if the US Military didn't invade Iraq??? Of course not!

You seem to have a distorted view of the US Military and of US wars.
The Military doesn't start the wars, the US Govt does.  The joint chiefs of staff might advise
a president but they don't have a vote on where or when or with who the US military is used in
a war.

Since we first started discussing this issue years ago, you've continued to blame the individual
soldier, sailor, airman or marine for the wars waged by the civilian govt.
It appears that you continue to make the same mistake today.

We can do this dance forever, but we will never hold hands!

Just to clarify, the Governemnt spending budgets are based on the value of the taxes they will collect.
The collection is based on actual dollars anticipated to be rec'd based on tax rolls.  So if I get a tax break or not,
it doesn't change what you pay...it's the collective tax roll that is used for budgets.

I paid $40 for the plate.  What about all the other custom plates and vanity plates....those are all available to you and
anyone that wants a vanity plate or qualifies for the others...so WE ARE EQUALS!!!!! If you choose not to use it,
does not change the equality! And the $40 spread across all the Veterean plates purchased, I would think that
the state actually made money on this, and the other custom plates. So you are not out of pocket.
As for Metroscam, I can't believe you even bring that up in this thread since it si so far away from what this is about.

But do you want me to believe taxes are not adjusted to make up for loss revenue, that's insane if you believe that, we know that happens. Look at home assessments if you need anymore proof, be it fees or a tax they will continue to collect to make up for it, your 25% is being made up for by the rest of us. If it was up to me everyone would receive a 25% reduction, however since that is not happening you should be equal like the rest of us and pay your fair share.
