And I should add MOONGLOW police have no more rights then you when it comes to protecting yourself, and basically you shouldn't worry about what the police think on the matter, if God forbids you did have to defend yourself the only thing you should say to the responding cops is " I was in fear of my life and I can't answer anymore question without a my lawyer", after that keep your mouth shut until you talk to a lawyer. Chances are you would still be in shock and might say something that may be used against you.

Quoted from Henry

If I had to shoot someone to protect my family I would do so without hesitation,
if I knew they were in possible harm, and no I wouldn't regret it, not for a second.

If I had to shoot someone to protect my family I would do it too, as a last resort.
Your words... "and no I wouldn't regret it, not for a second" is similar to
George Zimmerman's words.
I think he regrets it, especially since it wasn't self defense.  Given the same scenario
today my guess is that Zimmerman would have called 911 and waited for the cops, instead
he needlessly killed an innocent man and he will pay for it the rest of his life.

YUP! Sometimes the shooter IS a good guy with a gun... but not in the vast majority of cases.

HUH! A severely mentally ill person with a handgun.  If the NRA had backed good gun laws that would keep
guns out of the hands of the mentally ill... THE FIRST SHOOTING MIGHT NOT HAVE EVER HAPPENED.

Come on GunHuggers... why not join the campaign for good FEDERAL laws that limit guns to those who
are mentally ill.

A swing... A miss!!!  Shadow strikes out again!

HIPAA Privacy Rule and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)

As part of President Obama’s continuing efforts to reduce gun violence, HHS published a
Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on January 7, 2014, to remove unnecessary legal
barriers under the HIPAA Privacy Rule that may prevent states from reporting certain
information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The NICS
helps to ensure that guns are not sold to those prohibited by law from having them,
including felons, those convicted of domestic violence, and individuals involuntarily
committed to a mental institution. However, the background check system is only as
effective as the information that is available to it.

On April 23, 2013, the Department published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking
(ANPRM) requesting the public’s input on how HIPAA may affect some states’ ability to
report to the NICS and ways in which these barriers could be addressed without
discouraging individuals from seeking mental health services.  Over 2,000 comments
were received from individuals, state agencies, health care providers, professional
organizations, consumer advocacy groups, and other stakeholders.  After considering
the public comments received, the Department developed a NPRM, which proposes to
modify the HIPAA Privacy Rule to permit certain HIPAA-covered entities to disclose to
the NICS the identities of persons prohibited by federal law from possessing or receiving
a firearm for reasons related to mental health.

Good, this should reduce healthcare costs.  People won't seek medical care that will go to HIPPA covered entities.

Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on January 7, 2014, The last time I checked a proposal is not a law. HIPPA privacy laws are still in effect until a law is passed by Congress. The HIPPA waiver law that was built into the ACA violates the law. That fact was brought up in a hearing today in the house while questioning the main ACA contractor. The WH hid the waiver in the source code but now the whole nation is aware of what they did.

Yawn, this discussion has been played out before and the reason it fails every time is because liberals like you want to target law abiding citizens not the criminals, not the wack jobs, why is that box? You know why and it has nothing to do with the criminals actions.

My target for good gun laws...
The Crazies (large percentage of 'em GunHuggers)
The Criminals,
The Anti Govt Fanatics who would use guns against America and Americans,
The Terrorists, Foreign and Domestic.

Just think of the pressure that the NRA could exert to have good gun laws passed if the
NRA actually represented Gun Toting Americans, instead of representing the Gun Makers.

The president can't pass legislation.  But the Congress can.

He can ignore legislation.  He can just ignore HIPPA laws, and not prosecute violations.  He's done it with immigration law, he's done it with the implementation of Obamacare.

what are the diagnosis for a 'mental illness'? I can tell from a medical standpoint that it's a very very very subjective
and slippery slope......most people don't show up as Hannibal Lecter.....

does that mean a bout of depression in one's life exempts them from owning a gun? watch TV, see those 'feel good
anti-depressant' commercial...THEY REQUIRE A DIAGNOSIS.....it's very subjective and easy to get one and assign one...

impressing upon another human being what you think is normal or abnormal is what mental health aka:mental HYGIENE
is and does....get it?

MENTAL HYGIENE...
DENTAL HYGIENE...
PERSONAL HYGIENE...ETC ETC.....

you see how mental hygiene is subjective?

VERY VERY VERY dangerous and slippery slope and a tangled web......

be careful what you wish for, the world does not revolve around your personal mental hygiene, one stroke of a computer
key and you could become marked....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
