so...scientifically punching rockets/space planes through the atmosphere using gigantic amounts of 'non carbon foot print fuel',
hahahahahahahaha is progressive?

it's like Gore talking about the carbon footprint and having 5 homes all having to be heated/electrified etc with servants to keep
them up and jet setting all over the globe to promote his 'small foot print'

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.........

climate change YES.....the earth does that
the carbon foot print story...........hhhhmmmmm....sounds like voodoo/psychiatry

Since we're talking about moving land masses, maybe we could find a way to move the rest of Schenectady away from downtown, just for a while. Maybe to Florida. The grabbers would turn on each other, fighting to the death over the nonexistent  "generated revenue" from Proctor's, as they wouldn't have our homes to use as ATMs, and then the rest of us could come back when things got quiet.
Not practical, I know, but I can dream, can't I?

Peer Review; Last Refuge of the (Uninformed) Troll

It has become a favorite tactic amongst trolls to declare their belief in peer reviewed science.  With this simple strategy, they at once excuse themselves from the need to know anything about the science, and at the same time seek to discredit skeptic arguments on the grounds that, not having been published in peer reviewed journals, they may be dismissed out of hand.

The 24 who rejected Climate Change were also "peer reviewed".  They have published their papers and
had them "peer reviewed" just as the other 13,926 have... only they 24 came to a different conclusion.

Galileo died while under house arrest for supporting the notion that the earth orbited the sun.  His was convicted in part on the basis of peer reviewed literature of the time insisting that the movement of the planets as observed from the earth could be explained by the planets simply reversing direction in orbit from time to time.

For nearly two thousand years, into the early 1800’s, when people fell ill, the peer reviewed literature confirmed that the best course of action was to let some blood out of them.  The simple observation that death rates increased when this treatment was applied was dismissed out of hand on the premise that, if it was true, it would appear in medical journals.

Yup...Peer review is the be all, end all.

Peer review also said the earth was flat.

Galileo?  You are making my case for me Bucky... The CHURCH condemned Galileo and it wasn't until recent
times that the CHURCH admitted it was "in error".

Facts are the realm of Science, not the Church.
The Church is the realm of 'magic'.

Then why do you support pseudoscience like man-made global warming, climate change cooling?  It isn't a scientific fact.  They have data, and there are a number of reasons that cause it.  Based on science, there were 3 ice ages BEFORE fossil fuels and the Industrial Age.  How did the ice caps recede without coal burning power plants and SUV's?

The wife got an invite to a wedding shower. It says it's going GREEN!!

No gifts are to be wrapped....just bows.
They are going to have a money tree so they can buy a tree to plant on the newly weds property.

HOWEVER.....you could also contribute to their honeymoon where they will take a 'JUMBO JET' to an island in the Caribbean !!
....talk about a carbon footprint!!!!

Ya just can't make this stuff up.

It does get tedious trying to educate the unwilling.  If Cicero would read the entire article he might
begin to understand climate change and stop making such an @ss of himself with his lame questions.

For the entire answer go to:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/earth/cause-ice-age.html
NOVA, "what triggers ice ages"

For the short answer:
Quoted Text
ATMOSPHERIC CARBON DIOXIDE
Changes in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are a strong candidate to
explain the overall pattern of climatic change. Carbon dioxide influences the mean global
temperature through the greenhouse effect. The globally averaged surface temperature for
the Earth is approximately 15 degrees Celsius, and this is due largely to the greenhouse effect.
Solar radiation entering earth's atmosphere is predominantly short wave, while heat radiated
from the Earth's surface is long wave. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and other trace
gases in the Earth's atmosphere absorb this long wave radiation. Because the Earth does not
allow this long wave radiation to leave, the solar energy is trapped and the net effect is to
warm the Earth. If not for the presence of an atmosphere, the surface temperature on earth
would be well below the freezing point of water.
Through a million year period, the average amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is
affected by four fluxes: flux of carbon due to (1) metamorphic degassing, (2) weathering
of organic carbon, (3) weathering of silicates, (4) burial of organic carbon. Degassing reactions
associated with volcanic activity and the combining of organic carbon with oxygen release
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Conversely, the burial of organic matter removes
carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Plate collisions disrupt these carbon fluxes in a variety of ways, some tending to elevate
and some tending to lower the atmospheric carbon dioxide level. It has been suggested that
the Eocene, the early warm trend 55 million years ago, was caused by elevated atmospheric
carbon dioxide and that a subsequent decrease in atmospheric carbon dioxide led to the
cooling trend over the past 52 million years. One mechanism proposed as a cause of this
decrease in carbon dioxide is that mountain uplift lead to enhanced weathering of silicate
rocks, and thus removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
In addition, the collision of India and Asia led to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the
Himalayas. While topography may not be enough to explain the cooling trends, another
mechanism may account for changing climate. The uplift may have caused both an increase
in the global rate of chemical erosion, as well as erode fresh minerals that are rapidly
transported to lower elevations, which are warmer and moister and allow chemical weathering
to happen more efficiently. Through these mechanisms, then, it has been hypothesized
that the tectonically driven uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas is the prime
cause of the post-Eocene cooling trend.

You don't "have to" believe it... You can remain ignorant of the facts like much of the GOP.

People should believe a theory only after it's been proven not when it only someones guess.
