(AP) — In an authoritative report due out Monday a United Nations climate panel for the
first time is connecting hotter global temperatures to hotter global tempers. Top scientists
are saying that climate change will complicate and worsen existing global security problems,
such as civil wars, strife between nations and refugees.

Lol..."authoritative report".

Yeah, civil wars and strife between nations is caused by the average temperature of the planet increasing by 1 degree, not oppressive and corrupt governments stealing the wealth of the people.

Who writes these scripts?

When the main pusher of man made global warming buys beachfront property it says one of 2 things, he either hopes it floods for insurance reasons or he doesn't believe it himself, which is it box.

So it's either one or the other huh???

I have no idea where Gore's property is but all beachfront property is not equal when it comes
to climate change:

or

The Republic of Kiribati may be the first nation forced to evacuate due to climate change.

UN Scientific Panel Releases Report Sounding Alarm On Climate Change Dangers

The report is based on more than 12,000 peer reviewed scientific
studies. Michel Jarraud, secretary general of the World Meteorological
Organization, a co-sponsor of the climate panel, said this report was
"the most solid evidence you can get in any scientific discipline."

Climate Change vs The Rabid Religious Right

Quoted Text
With Climate Change, we have a UN report telling us that the effects of climate change are only
going to get worse.
On the Rabid Religious Right, we have “end times” expert Anne Graham Lotz, Billy’s daughter,
blogging that the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370, “a small snapshot of what the
entire world will experience the day after the rapture of the church.”

The two incidents would seem to have little to do with one another, but serve as an example
of how differently those on the religious right interact with our shared reality. The supernatural
trumps science each and every time.

"But funding needed to offset the impact of climate change is lacking, the report warned, saying developing countries would need between $70 billion to $100 billion a year to implement needed measures. And efforts to reduce the effects of climate change would only have a marginal effect on reducing poverty unless "structural inequalities are addressed and needs for equity among poor and nonpoor people are met."

and their hand is out for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$....and guess from who?
Every single UN report has the wealth transfer pitch in it...
And every single UN report tells us how bad things are going to get if we do nothing, but no prediction on what will happen if you do what they want...

Its so funny that you see the "UN" holding their hand out for $$$$$$$$$$$$$, while you
see the "Koch Bros", and others like them, as honest businessmen.

This is a case of 'Science' vs 'Big Business'.

Climate Change is a FACT.  You may not want to pay the price to fix the problem, but that has
little to do with DENYING that there IS a problem.

Boxy, show me the post where I "SAW" that?
And while you're at it, show us the UN climate model prediction of what will happen if we implement everything they say?
You'll play the re-direct game because you won't find either....

BTW, today  "Science" is a business...

another BOXY LIE!! you're on a roll this morning
I posted several times that it is a fact......I also look at motives...I'm all for spending the 70-100 billion HERE in the US on new technologies..
I am against wealth transfer to "developing" countries were it will be pilfered much the same as the UN food program.

(Good.  I'm glad that you agree.  Since you apparently see the severity of the problem, perhaps
you will help convince the Right Wing Deniers on this board that CLIMATE CHANGE IS A FACT!)

I also look at motives...I'm all for spending the 70-100 billion HERE in the US on new technologies..
(we agree)

I am against wealth transfer to "developing" countries were it will be pilfered...
(Again, we agree)

Every day we delay fixing the problem here in the US, the problem only grows.  There is the 'will'
to start on the solution, but it takes political power to make those things happen... and that power
is now in the hands of the Climate Change Deniers.

IMHO, there should be equal effort on reducing emissions and adjusting to the changing climate.
As I said, every UN report addresses the doom that is coming and the money that must be transferred NOW, but not how much our efforts will reduce climate change. They don't mention it probably because they realize it won't change the severity much.
In the US, tough decisions will need to be made on human habitation on our coastlines...how much do we spend so that people and businesses can maintain their oceanfront presence? How many times will federal dollars be spent to bail out people after a storm, rebuild them , and do it all over again a few years later? How much will we have to spend to keep New Orleans dry? when is it too much?
Tough decisions need to be made that will piss off many people... but with the Federal government bleeding red, it has to be done.
