Mr Leet might be a nice guy and all but he by no means is a potential "vote getter" in this town.

He ran a dismal campaign and was beaten by a guy (Silva) who never expected to win and quit.  I figure GB is blowing smoke up Leet's butt because the republicans would love to pick their opponents. Specially when they have no shot of winning.  Leet would have given Steve the free ride he thinks he deserves.  Prolly related to Stevie Ego and GB for all I know.  And on another note if Leet was sooo special why didn't the Ego appoint him to Silva's seat?  Only in Rotterdam.  Fishin buddies and all

No one said he was a great vote getter or special. He is a gentleman.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Too bad there's no REP primary for County Leg?

Supporting Mr. Beet- because they know Steve would have crushed him without campaigning. Now Steve is in a corner-McGarry {C}on one side and Del Gallo {D} on the other.

It all comes down {as usual} to the CONS primary. If Brian McGarry wins he goes all the way.

Anybody but Stevie Ego.  Who I might add doesn't look like a contender at this point.  Jimmy C never stopped campaigning.  The ego leaves for Italy, sunshines on the beach, sashays around long island.  No wonder he lost so many elections in the past.  LAZY LAZY LAZY

A vacation in Italy is now a negative in Rotterdam? Did the demographics change? While Puddy be working-Steve is soaking up the Capri sun? LOL!

Steve's problem is not vacation spots. He has hitched his wagon to the wrong post. Only fiscal CONS-no dead enders.

I agree benny....so what if he went on vacation? That has absolutely nothing to do with his campaign. Benny is correct...ST is just hooked up to a party lacking in leadership! A party going nowhere!

And might I add it is just too early for the politicians to be hard pressing their campaigns. The dems have already been out and about with their fliers. People where pissed!  Fliers hit the garbage almost immediately! It usually picks up after labor day. Give us people a break already, huh?

Maybe Ms.Barrie is out hugging a tree! (no disrespect here)

Stevie Ego left town for three weeks and put Sigsnore at the helm.  We the people wanted Joe out of the Supervisor's seat.  Made some costly decisions while at the controls and some of us haven't forgotten or foregiven Stevie ego for that.  I just find it ballsy that the EGO left the town in the hands of a disgraced loser who was vetted out of office by the FBI.  Paolino and Constantiono would have never dreamed of such a bone head manuveur.

Stevie Ego thinks time in Italy is a given if your last name ends in a vowel and then he comes back and disrespects the "queen" of Rotterdam Italians, Eunie Esposito.  He should be ashamed of himself for the way he treats the "other" people not of his ilk!

Wasnt' Signore the Supervisor that negotiated the police contract before this most recent one?  I would say that was a costly decision.  And Tommasone compounded it with this most recent contract.

Puddy is right.  People are pissed.  These guys look worse than the State Senate!  Fighting like children and playing all kinds of musical chairs ~ I do hate to say it, but I have to agree - the voters will no doubt make substantial changes.

Ask Gerard Parisi, Tom Buchanan, Patrick Aragosa, John Paolino, John Macejka, Jim Tedisco, Paul Tonko, Bob Godlewski, the Rotterdam PBA, Joseph Suhrada, Ang SantaBarbara, the town Republican Committee, zoning and planning board members, and last but not least the electorate what they think of John Mertz.

For starters YOU think you know Rotterdam Politics and the taxpayers better than anyone else.  You are a self proclaimed expert on the NYS Assembly seat,  you are a self proclaimed expert on Ethics yet you have never if at all filed a financial disclosure form with the Town.  You pissed of long time residents who toiled for years to make Rotterdam "A Nice Place to Live" all the while you where coddled and cojoled growing up in BINGHAMTON.  I have said it before Go Back to where you came from JohnBoy.  You have overstayed your welcome.  Sooner than later George Jr will show you the door just like Jim Tedisco, George Pataki, the Rotterdam Republicans, and very soon the Rotterdam voters.

You are a mistake of historical proportions that has polarized the town!

I like the rhetoric.  It’s very well written and possibly persuasive if you didn't know the facts.

But didn't Mr. Mertz get re-elected for a second term??  And not only that, wasn't he the highest vote getter out of all Republicans?  Which still baffles me as to WHY the republican leadership didn’t endorse him?

Residents of Schenectady County and Rotterdam need to keep a look out for the B.O.M.B. that going to drop this November.

Four years is an eternity in Rotterdam Politics.  John Mertz has self destructed over that time.  To be fair, Mertz was indeed the highest vote getter but please remind me who were the opponents and what percentage of the voters came out to the polls four years ago? I can tell you that it was the weakest Democratic ticket EVER to be assembled.  How do you explain the record margin of victory enjoyed by Paul Tonko the year Mertz took him on?  How do you explain Mertz getting beat by Diane Marco, (by no means a political heavy weight?)  How do you explain Mertz being passed over for the assembly run that Amedore won?  How do you explain Mertz being passed over for the County Legislature open seat in District 4 this year?  How do you explain the the fact that his neighbors disdain his presence in the "hood?"  Time will tell on the BOMB

My estimation is that McGarry and Littlefield will realize John Mertz is out for John Mertz.  Mike OConnor is just plain politically "dumb."
