Farmer Paul Tonko and Gasbags don't like Mertz?-More good reasons to vote for him.

We get it Puddy. You don't like Mertz-boo-hoo. You're in for a big shock in September. By the way what do your peeps think about the pathetic County Leg? They only complain about the town? LOL!

Four years is an eternity in Rotterdam Politics.  John Mertz has self destructed over that time.  To be fair, Mertz was indeed the highest vote getter but please remind me who were the opponents and what percentage of the voters came out to the polls four years ago? I can tell you that it was the weakest Democratic ticket EVER to be assembled.

In a County DOMINATED by Democrats, with at least twice as much money in their war chest's as Republicans. Why in the only town with a Republican super majority, in a County dominated by Democrats, was the Democratic ticket so "weak" in your opinion?  You could chalk up Obama's victory as a victory over a "weak" opponent using that logic.  That's a pretty subjective assessment.  It's not difficult to determine the "weak" opponent after they lose, and apparently quite convenient when smearing a political opponent.

I believe that the Republicans made overtures to long standing Dems that they would "work" together to better govern the Town.  Instead the local Republicans decided to "settle" scores at the expense of Dems.  Paolino's admin for the most part, left the Signore people alone.  Tomassone's admin has been marred by viscious attacks and infighting, back stabbing and a general lack of trust.  I must say the way Tomassone and his "super majority" have handled residents concerns over assessments, appointments, contratcual obligations and general public relations has been atrocious!

Time for a change and not soon enough! Morale in the town at an all time low and nobody trusts this admin to do the job of bringing the town back together.

Thank you about the County-more people need to be outraged. It's a joke to just fault the Town Board. Especially with the current state of this County. Record deficits, other Counties cutting hours and employees-here nothing. Just more stunad spending schemes. After record increase in County taxes last year?

GB brought up the Gillette House. The taxpayers waste over a million dollars and County sells it to the Chamber for $1. Now the Chamber wants to sell it for full value after complaining about its higher re-assessment? Nobody says nuthin-nobody does nuthin. AG Cuomo should be brought in to investigate this disgrace. Yes we have problems in Rotterdam but nothing compared to this horrible County.

Sorry puddy, but again I am not johnny boy. However it is amusing to hear your rhetoric still spewing from guilderland! You or anyone else has not said ANYTHING that mertzie boy has done badly! Is he perfect? Clearly no, and neither is anyone else. Some are just better or worse than others.

I have still yet to hear a really good reason to not vote for mertzie. The behind the scenes political BS between reps and dems and cons are not my plum line for casting a vote. Who will best represent me and my ideology is my decision maker.

And if you think that the last dem election ticket was weak....take another look at this years election. On the dem/reps/cons ticket. It appears that they just go door to door asking ANYONE to run for office with clearly no thought in the matter.

At least the 'no new tax party' is different. It is clearly a grassroots movement with people who stepped up to the plate, funded their own campaigns and is running on a platform. And from what I'm hearing on the street....the residents ARE LOVING IT!

And benny is correct about the county. Our reps at the county level have done nothing for us. We were slammed with an almost 10% tax hike last year. Where were all of you people back then? Rotterdam looks like Dorothy from the wizard of oz....but the county legislature IS the GREAT OZ!

and if anyone still thinks I'm johnnyboy...too bad for you cause I am just a resident of rotterdam who works 40+ hours a week in the private sector. I make it a point to be informed. And there are tons of us out there. THINK ABOUT IT!

These are all the same claims that were made before they actually became the super majority.  The Police (conservatives) complained about "morale", and nepotism, and cronyism, and all the rest of the ism's.  Remember the gun handle fiasco, and the Signore's son fiasco?  The Dems and Cons tried to muddy the Republicans with those accusations during the election BEFORE they became the super majority. And guess what?  It didn't work.  Result - Super Majority

Are the Democrats running on the Savage "working together works" platform?

I don't think the rift in this town (if there actually is a rift) is caused by Republicans.  The fact is, the people are sick and tired of the major parties along with the special interest minor party’s (Cons) taking control of this town for their own personal gains.  Whether it be Republican Parisi and his law firm making money off the town, or Conservative Hamilton being the highest paid Police Chief in the capital district, Timmy Larned greasing Constantino for favors, or Mallozzi receiving Rotterdam mulch delivered to his estate compliments of Paulino and the Rotterdam taxpayer.

Rotterdam is looking for a change.  This crap has been going on for decades in this town, and it looks like there is a third party that may actually bring the town together for the good of the town.

What self serving interests do Mertz, McGarry, O'Connor, and Littlefield have to gain through elected office?  The answer is NONE.  That's why they are so unique for Rotterdam.

I would suggest to anyone who doesn't see the town as "their bag" or of no interest to them to examine the fact that the annual county budget is approximately 15 times greater than the town budget. If you pay taxes, you might think it is your "bag." No offense, but consider how much has been put down a rat-hole there.

Right-stop worrying about a box of missing paper clips at Town Hall while the County is going to hell in a hand basket. Things will only get worse with Joe Suhrada leaving for other pursuits. Everyone needs to support Brad Littlefield to replace him. This County needs genuine fiscal CONS business people not uninformed fill ins.

Only pray that NO NEW TAXES PARTY spreads Countywide to fill a huge vacuum caused by dereliction of duty. The oppressed taxpayers Countywide need a choice. Especially in the City, Nisky and Gleville where you can't give property away because of decades of overtaxation. This is a countywide problem and needs countywide solutions.

Ahem,  haven't seen this much unrest since Jimmy C took out the whole party back in 98.  But then again that Rocket Scientist, master plumber, head janitor, toilet plunging Joe Signore was impressive, along with never held elective office Holly Vellano, and carpetbagger Carolina Lazzari during that sweep.  Hmmmm any similarities from back then to current day???  Just askin.....

Well puddy, Barrie is the one who first introduced herself here. And this IS HER thread. Asking where she might be seems most appropriate since this thread is about HER...K?
