Quoted from CICERO

The County Republicans are stealing the National Democratic Party platform.

So true! And again...there are tons more issues to deal with than auto emissions. Everytime there are regulations proposed and enforced by environmentalists, it has cost the taxpayers money. AND has caused businesses to leave. Which is already one of the major problems in this state and county!

People and businesses are leaving this state at an alarming rate. Regulating auto emissions is not going to reverse that. It will only enhance it!IMHO

Keep asking questions!

You haven't answered the ones I asked, yet.  Good luck - I'm glad I don't have a horse in this race.

She hasn't responded to the questions that I posed yet either.  Perhaps, she is either busy on the campaign trail
or out of town.

I await her responses.

Perhaps she just plain doesn't want to answer them or the party has told her to keep quiet.

Perhaps she has to ask someone what to say? Perhaps? Maybe? Certainly!

Quoted from CICERO
Republican Angelo Santabarbara proposes a ban on plastic baby bottles, and now Republicans endorse Mary Barrie the environmentalist concerned about car emissions.

The County Republicans are stealing the National Democratic Party platform.

Mary, have you gone door to door, telling the resident that this is the platform you are running on?  I would think you wouldn't be able to hear yourself speak over the laughter.

Brad Littlefield - to cap taxes.
Mary Barrie - limit car emissions.
Brad Littlefield - Denied Republican endorsement
Mary Barrie - Granted Republican endorsement.

Littlefield, O'Connor, Mertz, and McGarry,,,,,, run counter to whatever the idiots running the Republican Party run on.

Bravo Cicero! What the hell is wrong with the REPS?

Brad Littlefield has been leading the charge against Metrograft and County patronage for years. He is a business and budgetary expert. Mary refuses to answer questions about Metrograft and then thinks the County should be involved in auto emissions? That's a National issue {if at all}. Just what we need different County standards for auto emissions and plastic bottles? I'm shocked-can't believe what I'm reading here.

Les Z is out-Mary is in. Where's Mike V on this musical chairs? Press is silent-as usual.

Les Z figured out this is a suicide mission. Like Joe S did? "Your" REP ticket Mike V and Mary B? More like your GREEN ticket? Expect more shockers in the coming weeks. Salami's got another hot one.

Don't take this all personally Mary. This is politics. And we are all just fed up with a lot of things in this county.(such as taxes) And clearly car emissions isn't on our list of priorities. Not today anyway!

Mary,
Just a small question....is there a 'carbon footprint fee' on the purchase of a can of beans?....I'm only asking to show how ridiculous
and out of perspective the whole thing can become. Although I am in favor of walking more.....The Jerry Springer show and his
guests are perfect examples.....I find it sad that the labeling of 'environmentally friendly' or 'green' a way to pigeon hole a person
right out of the if P then Q reason and to keep someone stuck between a rock and hard place. Just because something is walkable
doesn't make it nice/attractive/desireable.....what we put there does....and those things will make everything the GREEN($)
everyone is looking for.....

GE opened an R&D in Detroit.....your wish of decreased emissions has been answered.....I think they already know the answer
but they need to find a different way to invest their $$$$$$$......robbing Peter to pay Paul.....

Hi everyone, I have been busy on the campaign trail.  I want to chat with you. I just don't have the time right now to keep up with you!

Mike V and I are both endorsed by the Republicans.  Mike is doing a primary on the Conservative ticket as well.  I am a Republican he is a Conservative.  That should take care of a few of the posts.

Cap and trade??  It's not a new concept.  It's similar to the cap and trade program that's been around since the Clean Air Act of 1990.   I haven't read the entire legislation just the news articles and commentary.  Climate change is still being debated.  Have any of you seen Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth?  It's worth viewing and makes you think.  The Senate has not passed it yet so there's a chance it can be rewritten to CAP the costs that can be passed down to the consumer. Renewable energy sources need to be available to help offset this type of program now.    Without them, this is going to trickle down and cost us dearly once again.  I'm not in favor of the legislation based on the news articles I have read.

Auto emissions can be reduced by carpooling.  Too many drivers are solo on the drive in to Albany.  Just a two-person car pool, is one less car polluting and adding to the traffic congestion.  I didn't need a tax incentive to do this.  Just trying to be conservative-mined.

Why can't we build walkable communities?  Cluster developments instead of suburban sprawl.

Garbage?  We will always have garbage.  However, we don't need to create the large amounts of waste in the first place that we do.  Why is it that we need so much packaging for things we buy?  Why can't our supermarkets have more bulk foods like the Honest Weight co-op?  You bring in your own container, fill it up and store whatever you bought in it.  ZERO waste, food quality still 100%.  And guess what else, you don't have to pay for packaging so it's far cheaper!

The City of Albany made many mistakes and used the landfill as a source of revenue.  Not fair that more Albany Pine Bush needs to be ruined because of it.  Other munis around had to close their landfills and WE all pay a lot to have our garbage shipped out of here to become a nuisance in someone else's backyard.

A Republican enviro??  Teddy Roosevelt was a conservationist.   George Pataki closed the deals on lots of land to preserve open space.  Both of them were Republicans.

I'm an unknown to all of you, but my record on the Rotterdam Conservation Advisory Council is known at Town Hall.  The RCAC is a non-political group of people that have written the erosion and sediment control ordinance, land conservation zoning and the landmark and historic preservation ordinance is under construction to name a few.

I'm not a politician.  I'm in this to help people.

I have to run, but I'll be checking back.

Mary
