Clarification of my response to gadfly.  Suhrada's assessment about the cops was accurate.

How exactly have the cops been "bullying" REMS?  You may recall, the cops were supporters of REMS....while the eventual contract with REMS was in limbo for
months, police dispatchers sent REMS first....every time.....with no obligation to do so.....sending alternate services only when REMS could not or did not
respond.

Because I do not believe they did these things in the interest of the REMS, nothing in this town is without quid pro quo.  Whether is was in return for Conservative Party support, or for a few to benefit from the mysterious missing money that was supposed to be paid to the town for ALS/Paramedic services, or a combination of both.

The Cops didn't support REMS, they supported a taxing district.  They used the REMS as the sentimental pawn to sell it.  The residents didn't bite, so now they are going to plan B, which is to dissolve the Paramedics and give themselves raises.

Nobody that I talked to had any problem with paying for the Paramedics, the dissolution was completely out of left field and for bullshit reasons. The problem was always with REMS not able to generate enough revenue to stay operational and them going to the town for money.

Maybe "bully" is the wrong word, maybe the cops manipulated the REMS is a better choice of words.

The "new ambulance" will not be permanently stationed at the Senior Center....it is only temporary,

who will they be raising $$ for next there?

For Roz? JS? which dem gets special treatment in exchange for the special treatment they handed to the "party?"

You know, the manner in which this debacle came about is shameful an everyone knows it. The "Chief" needed the 10 grand for himself so bad and his cronies needed theirs that they put the knife right into REMS backs AND THE PARAMEDIC EMS employees! These guys/gals are EVERYWHERE in the paramedic vans like a flash of lightning if God forbid you need them. I see them 10 times a DAY. It will be nice to have to share them with Schitnecktitty now (NOT) because you KNOW they will not be as readily available.

So yeah, Harry the rat should resign. He is a class A creep and guess what? HE ISNT A JAILER ANYMORE- WE ARE NOT IN HIS JAIL LIKE PRISONERS! Maybe he spent too much time with criminals and they rubbed off on him a little? Huh? He has run this town like it was his jail, or a Brownshirt rally.

People everywhere can't stand this dictatorial bunch who act like thugs.
*Put your questions in writing and we will give you the middle finger!
*Speak up at the dais and we will give you the middle finger!
*Support the paramedics and we will give you the middle finger!
*Be against the RAISES and we will give you the middle finger!

* Be a businessman who backed another candidate and you get the middle finger!

Now you know how freedom loving Americans feel about dictators who give us the middle finger.

I, personally knew all I needed to know about this tyrant when he attended the Million Mom March to seize our guns. Next his daughter will want to run, that is why he is there to do the dirty work. His name is MUD, so we will see how she does in HER election!

And I will tell you about bullying- pushing this stuff through and then marching out there with a script of LIES - THAT is bullying!

And I KNOW they read this. And WE know you YOU are!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

This issue could have been taken care of during the ST administration. BUT.....the gop imploded and aired their dirty laundry in the daily rag. They caved (or were bought out) when they tried to harness the police commission. GP and Agello and their gop party pals derailed the process with dirty tricks...ya know....kinda like what the dems have been doing in these last couple of administrations. If memory serves me...the gop actually endorsed a popular sitting town board member with another gop'er who lost miserably.

Well, that's water under the bridge....and now there is a NEW rep party!! And Brian McGarry and Joe Villano is it's driving force!! ROTTENdamians have an opportunity that doesn't come around very often in that town. The old reps are washed up and need to be set out to pasture. Let the new gop blood continue to move forward with their new ideas, visions, honesty and dedication.

those are the folks ROTTENdamians should be looking to now. imho

The Town doesn't own any of those vacant private properties....the Senior Center is the logical place to park until the permanent home can be established.
REMS is finished as the primary BLS provider in Rotterdam. Look at the requirements set forth in the formal request issued for the proposals...REMS
cannot even meet the minimum standards sought....and once other guidelines to be used are applied, REMS cannot compete.

What are the minimum standards sought?  When were these standards written?  Who wrote the standards?  REMS has been around for decades, have they been operating below these standards the entire time?  Or...Were these standards just recently written by this administration to assure REMS cannot qualify?

This nightmare should have ended at least by the Paolino administration....but TJ was elected in that cycle and the first item on his agenda was a tax
district for what were then two separate volunteer squads. Paolino did not support the idea but explored other viable options to organize REMS into an
efficient operation....but TJ and the volunteers would hear nothing of it....they only wanted freely flowing public money in one form or another with no
accountability, and no interference from experienced business people.

The Mohawk option was there then.....an offer that has been on the table ever since....it was the obviously logical option....Mohawk would have hired some
of the volunteers.....bought one of their buildings....AND THE TOWN WOULD HAVE BEEN COLLECTING MONTHLY PAYMENTS FOR THE ALS SERVICE THAT
WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO BE PROVIDED BY TOWN PARAMEDICS - WITHOUT THE EXPENSE OF MEDICAL BILLERS OR EVEN A SINGLE FEE FOR THE BILLING.

But thanks to all of those spineless politicians along the way, instead we got ripped off in a huge way....while successive administrators not only knew it
but fostered it in one way or another.

Now that revenue can no longer be generated through those resources, the Town will get nothing....we can now officially declare any and all
revenues collected for ALS service consumed completely, and illegally, by REMS....without one shred of accounting for those funds, or any of the public funds
given to them over the years.

IMO, the worst part of all is the fact that our so called "representatives" in local government would never seize the numerous opportunities, now gone once
and for all, to end this recurring nightmare out of plain common sense and fiscal responsibility....they are only doing it now that they need to finance retirees
and raises for friends and family members....and the only sufficiently substantial budget funds that can be redirected to those things, without raising taxes
to do it, is the paramedics....the only Town entity that can be replaced literally overnight if need be....without missing a single beat....because the truly
complete ems provider on the way in has their own paramedics as well.

For one thing, there are minimal insurance standards.....general liability no less than $1,000,000/$3,000,000 per occurrence....medical malpractice minimum
of $3,000,000, issued by insurer licensed to do business in Occupied New York State....automotive liability minimum coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence...
minimum umbrella insurance of not less than $3,000,000 per occurrence....and constant proof thereof....with the Town named as an additional insured on
a "primary and non-contributory basis".

Two fully staffed ambulances 24/7...."fully staffed" meaning NYS certified paramedics.....communication equipment standards.....requirement to provide
monthly reports to the Town for all ALS and BLS transports provided....GPS transponders to monitor ambulance locations and allow dispatchers to see the
closest available unit.

HAZ-MAT requirements.....

Compliance with response times outlined will be monitored monthly....with monetary penalties for failure to achieve and maintain those response times
less than 95% of the time....allowing for certain disasters and other unusual circumstances beyond the provider's control.

Selection will be based on items such as understanding of the work required, with "considerable weight being given to experience...THE RESPONDENT'S
HISTORY.....and ability to provide services outlined..."

The RFP was written by the Town Attorney....who has impressively collected a mountain of information on the history and operations of REMS....and has wisely
specified a five year term for proposals....so it can't be the political hot potato it's always been.

REMS has never achieved or maintained consistently acceptable response times....or response rates for that matter. The standards outlined are in the best
interest of the Town. I don't believe they were designed to make it unattainable for REMS...but rather to serve the purpose of securing the safety of our
residents to the highest degree possible...while holding the provider accountable in every way....accountability REMS was allowed to escape.
