GunHuggers Note:

A South Carolina Supreme Court order has brought a Columbia murder
trial to a screeching halt after the alleged gunman argued the state's
'stand your ground' law should be invoked because he feared for his own
life after breaking into another man's apartment in a home invasion.

Geee!  Thanks George Zimmerman!!!

LMAO it will never go anywhere, 2 completely different cases. He was in the act of committing a crime not to mention he was the aggressor. Trying to tie this to the Zimmerman case which by the way wasn't even tried under the Stand Your Ground law is a joke.

So it IS similar to the Zimmerman murder...
Both men were 'standing their ground' and both were the aggressor.

Nope Zimmerman did nothing illegal, if Zimmerman tried to rob him and Trayvon fought back then Zimmerman killed him then it would be similar to this case. It was proven Zimmerman was NOT the aggressor. What other stories do you got, here is one that some tried to argue was like the Zimmerman case but NOBODY backed this guy, it was cold blooded murder.

John Henry Spooner was found guilty of first degree murder today.
A Milwaukee man was convicted Wednesday of fatally shooting his 13-year-old neighbor, whom he suspected had broken into his home and stolen weapons. The trial now shifts into a second phase in which the defense will try to prove the 76-year-old defendant was mentally ill at the time of the shooting.

Officials entered a video recording of the shooting of Darius Simmons, 13, as evidence Tuesday in the trial of John Spooner, 76, who is accused of killing the youth last year.

Gust Petropoulous, a detective for the Milwaukee Police Department, testified Tuesday that the recording was retrieved from a private video surveillance camera at Spooner's home in the 1900 block of W. Arrow St.

The recording shows Simmons takingin garbage cans from the curb. Spooner emerges from his house, carrying a gun. He confronts the boy on the sidewalk, waves the gun in the air and then shoots him. The boy grasps his chest and runs.

Patricia Larry, Simmons' mother, testified that she stood at the front door of her home as Spooner demanded that her son return weapons Spooner said were taken from his house. When the boy said he didn't know what Spooner was talking about, Spooner shot him, she said.

Darius Simmons only ran a short distance before collapsing and dying.

LMAO!  Just like Zimmerman was proven "INNOCENT".    NOT!
Henry keeps trying to use the Trayvon murder to PROVE things that were NOT PROVEN.

I wonder if Henry also thinks that OJ was also PROVEN not the aggressor?

Yup I stand by what I said, he is innocent UNTIL proven guilty, I think he was guilty but like I said to you what I think doesn't matter.

This is America, everybody is guilty of something. You just need the right prosecutor and jury to convict.  The anti Zimmerman crowd just believe the didn't have the right jury.  If reverend Al was sitting on that jury, he would have found him guilty right after the prosecutor made their opening statements.

July 17 (Reuters) - A member of the jury that found George Zimmerman not guilty in the
shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin called for changes in Florida's
self-defense law, which she said gave jurors no option but to acquit the defendant.

"My prayers are with all those who have the influence and power to modify the laws that
left me with no verdict option other than 'not guilty' in order to remain within the instructions.
No other family should be forced to endure what the Martin family has endured."

Yup, highest prison popoulation and incarceration rate on earth. That's common knowledge.

Quoted Text
The United States prison system is a blight for the country. The International Center for Prison Studies estimates that America imprisons 716 people per 100,000 citizens (of any age). That compares (unfavourably) with Russia (484), China (121) and Iran (284). Over two and a half million American children have a parent behind bars. A whopping 60% of those incarcerated in U.S. prisons are non-violent offenders, many of them in prison for drug charges (overwhelming African-Americans). Even while our crime rate has fallen, our incarcerated population has climbed.

Politicians win elections by being tough on crime and portraying all prisoners as violent and subhuman. Convicted felons are not allowed to vote in America, disenfranchising them and preventing them from wielding any political influence. Nearly 6 million Americans, or 2.5% of the voting age population, cannot vote because they have a felony on record.

So Bucky... are you saying being found "not guilty" is the same as "innocent"?
Of course, they are two different things.

Bucky is calling an apple an orange hoping someone will believe him.

REALLY?  Pretty stupid statement I think. Law says we are all innocent until PROVEN guilty.
So your opinion is that we are all guilty until proven innocent...YUP sounds about right for you!.

You just need the right prosecutor and jury to convict.  The anti Zimmerman crowd just believe the didn't
have the right jury.  If reverend Al was sitting on that jury, he would have found him guilty right after the
prosecutor made their opening statements.
That means that Rev Al would be passing personal judgement without benefit of weighing
the facts presented to him...in other words, he could care less if someone is innocent or guilty, it's only
his opinion that counts...kind of like.....nah, won't go there!!!!
