What do you think the founding fathers would say about the government having massive stockpiles of
superior weapons and the government denying weapons to anyone without their specific approval, basing
that decision on your entire life history, and limiting and restricting when, how many and if you can carry
your self protection?

They would probably shake their heads and ask if the revolution was worth fighting, they knew we would face problems and face representatives who would seek expanded powers, however they had hope that Americans would do the right thing and understand the importance of freedom.

Hollywood gets a free pass on this controversial issue. Some of its biggest stars made their names in blockbuster films glamorizing the use of so called assault weapons by private individuals, yet all these stars have to do is proclaim themselves liberals and that's fine. You don't think that mentally unbalanced individuals get their ideas from this kind of entertainment? But you don't see actors or directors vowing to stop making these films lest the wrongperson be influenced the wrong way. Censorship takes away their right to free speech. The right to bear arms is one of our constitutional freedoms, yet they are fine with taking that constitutional right away from everyone. Hollywood actors tend to have armed bodyguards if they are big enough stars, as well.
A ban on guns would not have helped the man who got pushed in front of a subway train recently, or the woman who started out in the snowbank in Schenectady but ended up dead in jail, or the Pizza King. Let's try to solve the problem of the violent crazies by working on the crazy part, we might end up helping the ones who only hurt themselves.

Republicans all:

Of course Hollywood influences people to act out.

I also feel that much of Hollywood gets it's ideas from government violence.

To prevent the easily influenced from following the leads of the crazies in the government and the movies, we
must change the behavior of the government and the movies to be something that we would like people to copy.

If the government acted civilly and made people proud of their actions, the movie industry would surely jump on
it to sell American pride movies and TV shows.

It must start at the top. We have become a warrior nation that kills anything that stands in the way.

It must trickle down.

You may disagree, but IMO, the government is ME.  The Govt is US.  Collectively and individually, we
are the govt.  I don't see the govt as some OTHER thing, over there.  My view is that collectively
we are all the govt.  A collection of varying views, sometimes opposing, sometimes agreeing but
the govt is US.  Blaming the Govt is blaming each of us.  If I disagree with govt policy, it is my right
and my obligation to change that policy... not blame the GOVT as if it had a mind of it's own
and just walk away as if I did my part.  If you don't like your govt... change it.

The government has not been us for a long time.

The government is corporations and the rich.

The government kills every day against the wishes of most of the people.

So you are suggesting changing the government?

Are you now admitting that you don't support the killings by the government?

I agree that the Govt has not been YOU for a long time.  Cicero, Henry and others who look at
the Govt as the ENEMY, not as US.

The Waco/Ruby Ridge mentality by some on this board is really bad.  The govt is out to get me
or society is out to get me ...
Look it up...
Much of what you've posted here today fits this description:

paranoia
1. a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions and the projection
of personal conflicts, which are ascribed to the supposed hostility of others,
sometimes progressing to disturbances of consciousness and aggressive acts
believed to be performed in self-defense or as a mission.
2.baseless or excessive suspicion of the motives of others.

When we lost the republic we lost the government being us, the governments role was to protect our freedoms not trample them like they have. This might be your version of government box but it fails to represent me.

I understand that you see the govt as the enemy.  I also understand that many like you are taking up arms
against what they see as the enemy... much like Timothy McVeigh did.
I look at those crazies just like I used to look at the Black Panthers of the 70's.  A misguided group who
think that the system is out to get them.  They justify their rage, and spout and sputter about "rights" and
a few of their number will act and blow up a building or shoot a state trooper or poison a water supply to
demonstrate that rage.
Like McVeigh, they justify their actions and think of themselves as patriots.
Sad

Being against murder is not a mental issue.

Defending it is.

You believe thou shall only kill with good reason. Collateral damage is acceptable.

You and your kind are the reason over 6 billion people hate us.

Calling for peace is not insanity no matter how many ways you rephrase it.

Waco was murder.

Iraq was murder.

Viet Nam was murder.

Pakistan is murder.

I read it in the Bible.

According to your theory, Hitler was not a murderer.

Hypocrite.

You justify murder as accidents.

Thousands of them.

If "we" are the government, then we are in debt to ourselves, and in that case can forgive our $16 trillion debt.  Problem solved - no fiscal cliff.

You just keep spouting BS as if it were true.
Hitler ordered the extermination of at least 11 million people.  Not in war, not in collateral deaths... he
ordered their death.  It was not part of the war or killed by mistake.  Hitler murdered them.

Since YOUR policy (Tax Cuts FOr THe Rich) created much of the debt, and MY policy of (taxing the rich) would
eliminate much of the debt... YOU OWE ME!!!
