Death of officer's child a warning to keep guns safe

The tragic shooting death of an officer's 7-year-old daughter, shot by one of her siblings with her father's gun, is a painful reminder of the importance of gun safety.
"Accidents happen, mistakes happen, that's human nature. It doesn't matter if you're a police officer or not, sometimes guns are going to fall into the wrong hands, and when that happens, it's quite likely there will be a tragedy," said John Urquhart, a retired sergeant with the King County Sheriff's Office.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner identified the girl Monday as Jenna Carlile and her cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the torso. She was shot Saturday by a sibling who found a loaded gun in the family's van as it was parked near the Stanwood City Hall.

Police identified her father as Officer Derek Carlile, 30, of Camano Island. Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said Carlile has been with the department since 2009.

"I can tell you as a police chief, this is one of the most difficult things I have ever been a part of," Marysville Police Chief Rick Smith told reporters Monday. "That's one thing that you don't ever want to see, is one of your officer's children get hurt, and certainly it falls along the same lines as an officer being hurt or killed or a family member."

Smith said he was at the hospital with Carlile while his daughter was in surgery

We can do this all day box but the fact is guns do save lives, me and cicero gave you many examples where the law abiding citizen would have been killed if not for a firearm. If you don't like the 2nd amendment move to England, I like my Natural rights.

Carrying a gun increases risk of getting shot and killed

Packing heat may backfire. People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those
who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

In a related study, it was found that driving a car significantly increases your chances of getting into a car accident.

Packing heat may backfire. People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those
who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

Charles Branas's team at the University of Pennsylvania analysed 677 shootings over two-and-a-half
years to discover whether victims were carrying at the time, and compared them to other Philly residents
of similar age, sex and ethnicity. The team also accounted for other potentially confounding differences,
such as the socioeconomic status of their neighbourhood.

Overall, Branas's study found that people who carried guns were 4.5 times as likely to be
shot and 4.2 times as likely to get killed compared with unarmed citizens. When the team looked
at shootings in which victims had a chance to defend themselves, their odds of
getting shot were even higher.

What was the likelyhood of somebody carrying a gun being stabbed or mugged?  More fun with statistics.

They narrow the study to measure "being shot" as opposed to being killed by the many other ways a person can be assaulted and killed.

YUP.  There is a well financed lobby who spends much of their time and $$$ digging up video and stories
of "the armed citizen: shooting a criminal.
OF course, you do understand that they also do their best to bury the videos and stories of the armed
citizen who shoots his wife, or his kids by "accident"... or the armed citizen who, defending his cash
register with $27 in it... is shot to death by a fleeing robber.

The NRA is in the business of promoting gun sales... they promote the "FEAR" that sells guns and
they do a very good job of it.

Pretty flashy website huh?  There is a full time crew at the NRA promoting the fear and paranoia in
America.

http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen.aspx

The "armed citizen" is NOT however interested in gun deaths by suicide, or where a family member is shot
by mistake... or a neighbor being shot over a minor dispute.

I was on a Marine base where all NCO housing looked exactly alike.  Two Marines, neighbors and friends went
out drinking and the driver dropped off his next door neighbor, then went into his own house and went to bed.
He was awakened by someone crawling in an unlocked garage window, and shot the man.  The man was his
friend who was at the wrong house, tried his key and it wouldn't work so he was going to climb in the window.

The NRA ignores these stories... It won't help sell guns so it is irrelevant to their cause.

I know of 3 or 4 people who I have crossed paths with during my lifetime that I have found out later that they had committed suicide.  I can recall 2 for sure that used a belt.

I guess that would lead me to belive that the "belted citizen" is not interested in suicide by belt.  They just keep on buying those belts.  How insensitive.

That damn belt lobby.

A serious subject to make fun of... guns in suicide are easy... belts take determination and persistence.
Some people will commit suicide eventually but many are looking for an easy quick relatively painless
process.  Guns do all three.  With out a gun, many people would never commit suicide.

Since more than half of all suicides use a gun... Cicero's "belt Lobby" must really suck... unlike

NY pumps money into maker of guns used in slayings
Print Story Published: 5:17 pm Share Updated: 5:19 pm
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York has invested nearly $6 million over the past three years subsidizing the upstate factory that makes legal firearms as well as the semiautomatic rifles like those used to kill 20 children in Connecticut and two firefighters outside Rochester.

Some elected leaders want tighter restrictions on those guns but none say it's time to stop supporting Remington Arms Co. and its nearly 1,000 jobs in the central New York community of Ilion.

In 2011, Bushmaster Firearms relocated to Ilion from Windham, Maine, bringing more than 40 jobs. A Bushmaster rifle was used in both recent mass shootings.

A year earlier, New York provided $2.5 million to help Remington bring its Marlin lever-action gun production from Connecticut and add 100 jobs. That followed two grants in 2009 worth $3 million.

Facebook Purges Pro-Gun Accounts

Massive act of censorship sees alternative media pages disappeared
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
December 27, 2012

Editor’s note: Infowars.com editor Kurt Nimmo also had his account suspended by Facebook early today.
Facebook is purging accounts that carry pro-second amendment and pro-liberty information in a censorship purge that has accelerated over the past few hours, with innumerable pages being disappeared merely for posting legitimate political content.
NaturalNews.com’s Mike Adams contacted us to alert us to the fact that “Facebook banned our account for posting this,” with an attached image of a Gandhi quote about how the British disarmed the citizenry during their rule in India.

The following is a list of Facebook accounts operated by individuals in the alternative media that have been shut down by Facebook staff over the past 24 hours. Infowars writer Aaron Dykes and political dissident Brandon J. Raub have also had their accounts deleted. Raub was snatched by police and forcibly imprisoned in a psychiatric ward earlier this year for posting political content on Facebook. Infowars editor Kurt Nimmo also had his account suspended this morning.

Peter Dale Scott (account inactive)
Jason Infowars (account inactive)
Mike Skuthan (account inactive)
Packy Savvenas (account inactive)
Sean Wright (account inactive)
Katherine Albrect (account inactive)
It is important to stress that most of these accounts have not simply been temporarily suspended, they have been shut down completely.
A 24 hour suspension was also placed on the Alex Jones Facebook account due to an image that another user had posted in which Alex Jones was tagged.
One of the messages being received by users having their accounts suspended is displayed below. In most cases, users are not even being informed of why their page was suspended or deleted, with Facebook merely referring them to the company’s guidelines.

"Sociopaths in Costumes" would be the correct title.

Take deep breaths box, the hallucinations will hopefully subside.

BTW...I love the theme song to COPS - 'Bad Boys - Bad Boys, Whatcha gonna do when they come for you'.  It wasn't Good Guys - Good Guys, Whatcha gonna do when they come and save you'.

They love advertising their thugery on a nationally aired TV show.  They love thinking they are bad asses and want people to think they are bad asses.  The show is to intimidate the public.  But, as we know, they are thugs with costumes. And by the theme song, they are not ashamed to flaunt it.

Without a car many people won't die or kill others.

Suicide is intentional homicide. Guns are not required.

A lock on all medicine cabinets would save lives too.
