I built my new home with the intention of taking care of my father and/or in-laws if need be. I would never think of looking for a tax incentive for that. It's my responsiblility to take care of my family as best I can. I don't expect a kickback from others to do it.

That's what is wrong with the world. Everybody always wants a handout for doing something they should have tried to do anyway. Think about the multi-generational homes that existed for years. There was no place to kick out the elderly. Families took care of families. They did it and that was that. They didn't get $$ from other taxpayers via kickback to do it.

Brad Littlefield should have been the endorsed Rep candidate for Co. Leg. and not me. I have said that before on this forum. He was by far and is a much better candidate. He would have been a good Co. Legislator.

When we wrote the Landmark Historic Preservation ordinance, we did not add $$'s for taxbreaks. I wouldn't include them for Conservation purposes either. That shouldn't be the reason someone does something.

the problem came when the caretakers of the past went to work and society 'shifted'.....then it became close to impossible to do such.
not to mention the mental abuse of the caretakers by society of "not good enough"/"should be better"/"you did it wrong" etc etc....

taking care of elders IS NOT rocket science....but caretaking has been pushed off to MEDICINE....the search for the 'fixes' of aging....
I have yet to meet the 200year old person....aging is insidious but real......

the other issue is the 'look what the jone's are doing'...."they dont have to take care of their elders, they get to hire someone." blah
blah blah.....and the politicos taking that, finding a divide and making a podium puck while at the same time making a new
pipeline of $$ that goes NO WHERE GOOD......they make systems for 'the poor poor folks who cant do it.' ---Then they regulate
the hell out of it and make it such a problem(that will never go away and is natural) that it removes the common sense and
dehumanizes the masses into thinking 'they really CANT do it.' and makes them think they are ineffectual morons or prima donnas that t
the government needs to take care of so they can retire.......

dont give it to the government because it removes a part of your soul

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

It's pretty simple ....... spouses and children are easy exemptions to verify and follow...via ss#/marriage/divorce/birth certificate/residency/tax returns.

In-law apts are not verifiable. Again.....MV really doesn't want to go there. There are many folks in schenectady county that had what where once in-law apartments that are now rented out to 'anyone'. But at least they are paying the full tax on the property.

And in-laws usually are bringing in $$$$ either from SS, Pensions etc...that can help ease the 'burden'. There are also many elders that owned homes, sell them and move in with their kids, bringing with them that chunk of change from the sale of their home.

For a conservative, MV is sounding more and more like a liberal socialist........no? This is just yet another 'fluff proposal'.

It appears that the cons have been hanging around the dems a bit too long!! They too are catching that 'mental disorder'.

If that is the case why is the capital gains tax so much lower than highest tax bracket?????????????? for the socialist libs????????? or the conservative rich folk? so lets get this straight if someone gets a chunk of change and keeps it in the stock market they should get tax benefits up the wazzoo to give it to their children....buuuuuuuuuut if they want to live with their kids their kids have to pay out the wazzooo? are you kidding me? socialist liberals would make you do this and make the government build the apartment thats not whats happening someone gets a small tax break big fu(king deal...id rather that then get the tax bill for someone to be in the county nursing home!!!!!!!!! you people are ridiculous you throw around liberal and socialist like it is going out of style yet not a single one of you have any idea wtf it means

Spidey, see if you and your boys can recoup some of that SI money, you know, the tax break for a multimillion dollar business, so you can offset the tax breaks you want to now give residents who house their aging parents.

You seem to support tax breaks that you think will win you the next election.  Whether it's for multimillion dollar businesses, and now the elderly.

I do agree with you on one thing, it isn't liberal or socialist, but rather opportunistic and pandering. Just like REMS and the SI Group.

Yeah cissy... i don't know why we would have wanted to keep a company in town that employs people and is also sitting on a toxic waste dump....would have been much better for the town to let that property stop being used...

Picking the winners and losers in business...Just like Metroplex.  And we wonder why we can't find a single republican to speak out against the practice of crony capitalism in this county through Metrofraud.  That's because they practice in it also.  Oh what a tangled web we weave...That's why people are looking toward political neophytes with no personal and professional agenda.

No, I don't...I need a bureaucrat to explain it to me.  Who better than Mike V. to articulate, the why's and how's of taking care of aging parents.

It has come to my attention that some people will not be attending the Rotterdam Republican Town Committee's 7th Annual Reagan Day Dinner because of destructive
behavior of one or maybe two. 9who really knows when people hide behind phoney names) I want you all to know that I was elected to "unify" the party and that is my ultimate goal: WINNING ELECTIONS. As you all know, this cannot be done without generous supporters. I would ask that people on these blogs who do not have the courtesy to
use their OWN name come forward.  I, nor the full committee can control who gets on those blogs or what they say. I'm sorry for any discomfort and I
empathize with constant negativity. It is not often, that  a county or town has the opportunity to have the majority leader to come to one of our dinners. I am graciously surprised and joyful, however; if there is not a good turn out; I doubt we could ever get him to come back again!

Please review all that I have said. We are only a few days away from this event. I have not been on this blog for a while, yet; I felt the need to openly address the issue that came to my attention yesterday.

Thank you for your consideration

They call me Mr. Tibbs!   I feel for you there Tracy Donovan when you have to blame the behavior on this stupid, good for nothing, play ground of absurdity for the low turnout to your fundraiser. Do the Dems have the same problem?  Dunno but as a disgruntled former Republican I don't see the merits in using our own names.  The Gerard Paris/Tom Buchanan/Steve Tommasone vindictiveness is well documented.  Isn't that why you struggle to break even?
