152.10 Refer to the Planning Commission for report and recommendation thereon a proposed Local Law of the Year 2010 for the following purpose:
For a Change of Zone request on approximately 1.5 acre parcel located at 1921 Chrisler Avenue from Light Industrial (I1) to Multi-Family Residential (R-3). The applicant proposes to construct a residential re- entry center service facility for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for federal offenders releasing to Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer areas.
153.10 Declare the Town of Rotterdam as “lead agency” and authorize the Town Planner to prepare, file, publish and distribute all documents necessary to comply with 6 NYCRR Part 617 & SEQR relative to the below-proposed amendment to the Code of the Town of Rotterdam for a Change of Zone request as outlined in Resolution 154.10.
154.10 Call for a public hearing to be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department, 1215 Main Street, Rotterdam Junction, New York 12150 for the following purpose:
For a Change of Zone request on approximately 2.735 acres from Single Family Residential (R-1) and Two Family Residential (R-2) to Multi- Family Residential (R-3), on Tax Map Number 58.8-9-17.11 & 58.8-9- 4.1 located at 1066 Curry Road and 1113 Floral Avenue, Rotterdam, New York, 12306. The applicant proposes to construct a six (6) unit apartment building and bring a 42-unit apartment building into current zoning codes.
155.10 Adopt a Resolution establishing Rotterdam Ambulance Service District No. 1 in the Town of Rotterdam, New York pursuant to Article 12A of the Town Law State of New York.
156.10 Pursuant to Section 94 of the Town Law State of New York, the Town Board moves to submit for the approval of the electors the adoption of Rotterdam Ambulance Service District No. 1 in the Town of Rotterdam, New York, as outlined in Resolution 155.10.
157.10 Schedule a referendum, as outlined in Resolutions 155.10 and 156.10, to be conducted at a special election for approval by the qualified voters of the proposed district to be held at the John F. Kirvin Government Center, 1100 Sunrise Boulevard, Rotterdam, New York on June 29, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
158.10 The Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam ratifies and approves that the Town Administration office summer hours will run during the months of June, July and August from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
159.10 Authorize the Supervisor to accept a grant from the Capital District Transportation Committee, through the Community and Transportation Linkage Planning Program for the Five Corners Land Use and Transportation Study.
160.10 The Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam hereby authorizes the appropriation of Park Land Fees in the amount of $7,800.00 and hereby modifies the General Fund Budget by increasing Estimated Revenues (A510) and the revenue account entitled “Parkland Fees” (A2001.200100) by $7,800.00, and increasing Appropriations (A960) and the subsidiary account entitled “Parks Improvements” (A7110.4153 by $7,800.00).

I don't agree. There needs to be a half-way house here locally for Federal releasees. As it stands the closest one is in Binghampton. Fr. Peter Young used to have the contract and tried recently to get the contract just so that he could house two local folks one from Rotterdam. What happened to you guys wanting to give someone a "hand-up not handout?

He can't. He didn't get the contract. What's your problem? Are you tied to the police force?
Why would it matter if someone is 'tied' to the police force? That is not the issue here. The issue is taking taxable property off rotterdam tax rolls. One of the last things rotterdam needs right now. They have already taken industrial property and turned it over to residential(sync).
If this father young didn't get the contract...than who exactly did? And why rotterdam? Rotterdam is suppose to be that 'nice place to live'. A hamlet so to say with good schools, a gazillion little parks and family oriented. And now a proposed halfway house for criminal felons who need to ease their way into society?
Rotterdam residents are 'supposedly' struggling with high taxes and yet someone is actually proposing a tax exempt entity?We'll have to wait and see how they vote on this one!
As a side note.....Police enforcers put their life on the line to put these scum bags away. I guess the liberal socialists will victimize the criminal, so we are suppose to feel sorry for their criminal a$$!

I predict they will all fall on the sword for this one. They will portray these felons/criminals as the victims of the crime. They will use the words 'rehabilitate', 'second chance', 'ease into society'.....well the usual catch phrases to powder puff over the real issues.

Actually half way houses are instrumental in prevention of repeat offenders. These are people that served their required time and were paroled to a half way house to start back into society. Are you worried they will rob Adult world?
And what is the problem with the Sync rezoning? You made it about the tax rolls then mentioned Sync....which pays taxes on the property.
The question is what is the percentage of repeat offenders that are placed back in prison because they don't want or can't find a job and go back to doing what's easy for them and what put them in jail in the first place.
