Boomer, blame your people for that one....There was a perfectly functioning IDA, composed of member who knew what they were doing. Your people sent them all to the guillotine in exchange for a merry band of idiots that rivals the town board. Now you complain about who is on the IDA. Wake up smell the coffee and realize that this administration is not doing you, me, or anyone in this town favors....well except for their friends who get whatever they want.

The only dolt on that board was McGarry.  And btw I thought ND showed bad behavior to a resident, McGarry just rude.  When a resident/business owner shows up for help that is what the IDA is for.  Fortunately the metrograft people saved the night for McGarry by jumping in.  McGarry's comment that the "Hamburg Street businesses are chirping at him" did not go well for him today.  If he understood what the IDA did, he might have acted appropriately.  Like I said, BM, JM, LG, DD, and someone name Jayme Lahut acted appropriately and helpful.  McGarry was a crybaby--must belong to the NNTP they are all crybabies.

I have never begged a favor from this town.  However, it is certainly disconcerting when I hear the amount of money ST's IDA promised around town to Rep business owners.  No McGarry was a dolt.  Why is he on that board?  He has no background for it.

BM is on the IDA board because 'your people' asked him to be!!!!! BM is very conservative minded and like many of us, doesn't  believe in taxpayers funding private businesses. So why would they ask him when they knew the stand he would take? That is your homework assignment boomer! Get back to us....k?

Oh and thank goodness the plex was there to save the day!!! You must be kidding me here. The plex has spend millions of our tax dollars and we have yet to see a return on our money. All we have seen are increased taxes and more concocted fees. Just ask the people in the city how well the plex is working out for them. Ask the people in the unemployment line how the plex is working for them. And while you're at it, ask the dss 'customers' how they enjoyed going to Bomblers or attending South Pacific at Proctors!

BM is the only one who makes any sense. He is the ONLY one looking out for 'us' the taxpayers! How you can find fault with that is beyond me! That is of course unless you have that mental disorder!

I was disappointed to see that BM exhibited NO business sense.  I like him but was surprised that his response was not only rude but disrespectful to the business owners on Hamburg Street.  Several of them were sad to hear that he interpreted their concerns as "chirping" at him.  Even Bob God looked a little askance at McGarry's comment.  At least FDG listens to business owners.

Not sure who I can ask about why he get a seat on the IDA--better they should have given me that seat.  I could do a better job.  Can't speak to metroplex issues.  At least the plex jumped in to try to save face for the vacant Mr. McGarry.  What a disappointment.  He is I am sure a very good teacher and certainly a very good person--just doesn't get business.  If business owners were conservative, there would be none.

A community supports business by frequenting their establishment.....not by giving them our tax dollars to expand or survive. BM is a staunch conservative. And conservatives are the 'best' business people. And of course the plex would step in...they have their hand in our pockets for the cash.

And I'm sure you can check with any of 'your people' to find out exactly how BM ended up on the IDA board. It's not a difficult task!

GOVERNMENT IS NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF SUPPORTING BUSINESSES......CONSUMERS AND SMART BUSINESS PEOPLE ARE!!!

How to run a business 101, by IDA Chair.  First - Make deal with Town of Rotterdam to hook into town sewer line free of charge for 20+ years - that equals greater profit margin.  Second - syphon a few hundred thousand dollars from County taxpayers through Metroplex(up to $400K) to relocate business out of Rotterdam to Schenectady.

Good business Rotterdam style is about screwing the Town/County out of every penny you can.

Some conservatives are good business people.  That's like saying beauticians are the best undetakers.

Not sure who you think my people are--I did check with Albany County friends who again repeat the same thing "Rotterdam Democrats are something."  End of story.  Sadly they are not the upper eschelon of the political world.

In case you haven't figured it out yet--you are the rest of the Rep echo chamber, there is no room for staunch anyone when they have poltical office.  You need to govern for all folks.  You of all people should have learned that by now.

Well boomer, since you have so conveniently failed to answer my question, I'll FOIL for the minutes and ask 'my sources' on who was there and for what.

And it's just too funny that you say that a 'staunch anybody' has no room in government since they are representing 'all' the people. That is the purpose of a two party system. There are staunch dems and staunch reps, they are meant to meet in the middle. Ya know....MODERATE?

It was a good try by slamming BM. But he IS defending and trying to protect 'we the taxpayers'. He believes in lower taxes and less government involvement in people's lives. I believe that is what you call representing and serving 'all' the people.

I hope he continues and becomes even more vocal and an advocate for of all of us!!

Aren't you concerned that he has yet to criticize the current Admin?  I know you've spoke out plenty against them here, Bumble...so have I! McGarry is too busy bowing down to them.

And no, disagreeing w/ the IDA is NOT criticizing the new Admin!

I believe I said in my last post that I hope he continues to be more vocal in the future. And from what boomer said, BM is clearly not bowing down to them. In fact boomer is saying just the opposite.

No - let's be clear.  BM is pissing off Boomer, and fellow members of the IDA.  Maybe even some community members.  But NOT the admin! Not any of the people who put him one there...the same people he REFUSES to speak out against.

He'll speak out against REMS, the same way he did during the last admin.  He'll speak out for conservative principles, the same he did during the last admin.  But this Admin, Bumble, is clearly NOT conservative and does NOT have the best interest of the people at heart.

Doesn't it piss you off that McGarry has YET to say anything against them?  Or are you so much of a blind supporter that you overlook it?  I, for one, like him as a person.  However, I think he should be speaking out against the admin!

BM is a resident/citizen/taxpayer who is on a 'committee' in town. He is not a candidate running for an elected office. There are many residents/citizens/taxpayers that share his same ideology. If anyone thinks that BM should be speaking 'against' this administration, people should expect the same out of those who share the same conservative ideology.

Right now, BM is just a resident/citizen/taxpayer, serving on a committee. Sure I would like to hear him speak up at a rotterdam town board meeting. That is because I also share a conservative view. However, he serves on the IDA board. Perhaps he will address IDA issues if needed.

I applaud and support his insight regarding REMS! Just as I do other residents who share the same insight. Right now he is just a rotterdam resident who serves on a committee.

As far as pissing off people on the ida committee...that's nonsense! They are all big girls and boys and can handle differences of opinions on issue. I don't put much weight on the 'pissing off' issue!

Hey Bumble I am a taxpayer too and a Rotterdam business person--small business.  And now BM's smart-alec remark has pissed off some folks on Hamburg Street.  My point he stinks on that board because he did not respond to my question appropriately.  His off-handed remark was offensive to me and the Hamburg Street business folks.  You want to be in government, act appropriately.  He was offensive...and btw I allowed him to use my property for his campaign signs.
