Putting aside the fact that I would not vote for Tommasone, where does the gazette/lamendola get off headlining their article .....ROTTERDAM RESIDENTS REJECT TOMMASONE? Was this a 'primary' or a 'general' election? Typical gazette/lamendola bias reporting.

What I found most mind boggling, was how the cons voted (in this primary) 'in favor' of dems! SHOCKING to say the least!!  Same political ideology?

Comon - you're SURPRISED at the Gazette bias??  You've been around long enough to know better.

Yeah Suhrada....38% of the total vote...really decisive win.  Mertz was so unpopular in his own party that he receive 27%. How about O'Connor, the guy the party didn't endorse?  He beat a candidate appointed and endorsed by Republican leadership.  Uh-Oh, a No New Tax Party candidate with the Republican line. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

No New Tax Party is still going to be on the ballot.  A lot of the people who signed the petitions to get the No New Tax Party on the ballot were from those residents registered BLANK.

I think this is far from over.

The total number of votes seems very low.....is this usual for a primary? or are they lower because there really ARE more blanks
now....

Puddy ~ Surhada came in first, not that surprising since Mertz attacked him after saying he wouldn't.  As predicted, Mertz came in last.  Also as predicted, O'Connor came in first.

Not predicted was the HUGE bashing that Tommasone took.  I am convinced that the Republicans are in shambles, a nasty primary day for the endorsed Supervisor and No Tax candidate taking out an endorsed major party guy.

DelGallo will pull in at least one Democrat in the General.  For all you NOT paying attention, DelGallo is a BLANK!  Yes, he is endorsed by the Democrats, but just as much a Conservative now too.

Tommasone is toast.

New odds for the big day:

Supervisor:  DelGallo-McGarry-Tommsone  (can you believe that McGarry was that clost to Tommasone?)
Town Board 4yr:  Suhrada-Godlewski-Signore-Mertz-Martin
Town Board 2yr:  O'Connor-Dileva
County:  Villano-Dagostino-Viscusi-Littlefield-Barrie
Sheriff:  Dagostino

Big losers:  Republicans!  Even though I'll predict the R's keep the majority, the current leadership will have absolutely no say in any decision in Town Hall.

Having trouble with simple arithmetic, Cicero?

Joseph Suhrada 512
Joseph Signore  474
John Mertz        360
                       1346

512 divided by 1346 = .38 or 38%
360 divided by 1346 = .267 or 27%

A whopping 152 votes separated the top vote getter from the unpopular last who was unendorsed by the party.  You're proud of that?  The Republican Party's a joke.

Aside from the headline the Gazetto story was better than usual. The reporter kept stating that the NO NEW TAXES PARTY candidates still have another line. "Stan The Man" doesn't and is finished.

Felipe may have been surprised but not others about Del Gallo. Predicted months ago that as a businessman concerned about high taxes he would win.

The big loser was the County REPS. We are looking at a DEM sweep of all County seats including DA {unopposed} and Sheriff. The REPS candidates lost everywhere. The CONS will have more seats if this continues.

Cicero, Cicero...listen...try to comprehend...I know this is a little hard to figure out for you since, although you claim to know everything about politics, and you pontificate from your safe little alcove in front of a computer...The percentage of the total vote is not the number of votes received divided by the number of votes cast in a two-out-of-three-way election. It is the number of votes received divided by the number of total VOTERS who cast votes...

More able readers of tea leaves like Felipe have the experience, at least to make judgments because they have actually been around DOING something in the town political landscape and have a firmer hold on the dynamics surrounding a political race. The electoral arena requires some experience and dues paying which Felipe has, whether him and I agree on issues all the time or not. You do not, and your obviously faulty analysis in defense of your failed candidacy makes that clear in your inability to parse numbers. But you too have time to learn the intricacies and the hows, wheres, whats and whos. It takes time.

And no, turnout was high in both elections, especially considering the lovely summer day weather when no one is thinking about elections except a handful of folks like us in the arena.

Correction to above, Benny-Stan is on the Independence line.

I am in no way ashamed to not fully understand the computation of a 2 out of 3 race breakdown by percentage.  Especially when I don't have the information of total number of voter that cast votes.  I only know the votes cast.  I am not a Schenectady County politician connected with either of the two major parties. I'm just an opinionated observer of local politics.

I have yet to hear of a company that makes a sanitizer strong enough for me to associate in close proximity of Democrat or Republican Party leadership.  So I will stay in my alcove until such a product is made.

I'm happy to see a No New Tax Party candidate take a Republican line, especially a candidate who is working close with John Mertz and holds similar values.  Somebody to keep these dirty Republican party leaders in check.   It will be interesting to see after O'Connor wins a seat, if party leaders treat him like Mertz and choose not to endorse him if he wants to run for re-election.  I guess that depends on if party leadership is the same at the time.

And what will suhrada do IF he is the only rep on the board. It will be de ja vu all over again! Although it is clear that oconner (a non-endosed rep) will win over stan(an endorsed rep). However, suhrada has already drawn the line in the sand with oconner.

"Stan The Man" has the Non-independence line-like Judy DAG all by her lonesome? lol. That should mean 10 votes. Don't vote for anyone on stunad ROW C! While the County REPS are losing on important Row D-CONS-
Countywide-Judy DAG picked up two other lines. That makes 4 lines!

Mike O'Connor is the only hope for the REPS? They need him more than he needs them. Can see Del Gallo, Godlewski and O'Connor running everything next year.

The new odds for the big day????  Wishful thinking at best.  The Dems will win big in November.  My conclusion is that Franny, Nicki, Bobby G are locks.  Matthew Martin will pull a 1999 Lazzari rabbit outa the hat and thump one of the Joe's for the last seat.  Trust me bloggers there ain't no one on this board who knows Rotterdam politics like moy.  You just can't bring yourself to admit it.

Check out my past posts ladies and gents.  Read it and weep you lousy REPS!  The EGO blew it when he hired an ASSessor from Grafton??? NY.  ROTFLMAO and lovin every minute of it!!

Uhhhhhh, that is actually not true. Read back in time...Joe Suhrada has never publicly criticized O'Connor(nor Mertz), but very much the other way around here, on this forum. He Praised the Democrats (which was never used against him by the GOP, by the way with GOP primary voters) and he decided that he didn't want to say anything good about Suhrada although he professed to holding the same fiscal conservative views as Joe. Maybe he just doesn't like bald guys who are social conservatives as well as fiscal conservatives. LOL But it would be up to O'Connor to endorse the other as well since in life, there really aren't very effective one way streets. Hence the problem with Mike O'Connor. But we can see what he does. Does he want to work with the other Republicans or does he want the town to revert 35 years into the past where it was a matter of "who you know" ala' "no change Bob."

Now listen RACCoons, please. Mike needs to remember E Pluribus Unum. Not the other way around.

You toss around the term "dirty" pretty easily. You should be careful. When you find a crime someone committed you should report it to the authorities. two people not getting along does not constitute criminality. That is the problem with some of you folks, you assume criminality because of disagreement on an issue or two. What is in your drinking water?

What is in the drinking water? Good one GB. Are the evil REPS at it again?

Felipe predicting that Steve T would finish first. So much for his expertise. Everyone knew "Stan The Man" would lose. A "planning expert" who abstains on his first vote. Another polenta.

Got to give Puddy his due. But add this: DEMS sweep all County races and pick up another seat on the County Legislature. Joe Suhrada will be replaced by CONS Holly Vellano. County REPS voted to committ suicide. But they run a strong race and lost to Eunice. lol.
