My point being,,,,I'm sure he received recognition from the military for all he did with the USO.....and if he wasn't actually IN
the military he supported them.....

as for the politics? who is John Galt?

Mr. Suhrada has built a career on "standing against "fill in the _____".  People do not want professional naysayers in office; they want leaders who can lead.  As laudable as it is that he is sometimes the only one to vote no on certain things, the bigger question is why is he so perpetrually unpersuasive to his colleagues on the right and left?  Maybe it is because he is typically really wrong.  Albeit wrong with bluster and indigation and cliche.

Yeah, he should have just gone along with everything like all the other ones, when the GOP was in, and when the democrats were in. Then his re-election chances would be guaranteed since no one could say he did any worse than the others. Makes good sense. Being boldly in the middle of the pack is the place where you don't get picked off by the snipers. More politicians should do it, right Pilgrim? "Leadership."

I sense he was so 'unpersuasive' because it's a lot easier to stick with that pack, and be safe. The peer pressure is there because they parade a bunch of career bureaucrats out to tell you why we simply have to spend millions more to "solve this problem" or "confront that ill." (My favorite is when they talk about the million they are next pouring down the crapper as an "investment." )Plus, it's safer to be safe. Ask Mike Kirvin, who started to actually vote with Surhada on things like that money-wasting Gillete House (he shoulda' just gone along then he would have been a "leader.") The people really repaid Mike for waking up.

I say, seeing as Surhada was so wrong to be the sole "no" vote, he should be voted out. You would probably be doing him a favor, so he could spend his time making money in the private sector instead of giving a damn about his town. Then you can be assured leadership no matter what party is in there running things. They will never make you uncomfortable while they embarrassingly argue against spending your great grandchildren into fiscal slavery. Capital idea, there.

I know challenging status quo is practically a death penalty crime in these parts. Everyone around here has a masters in public policy from SUNY and they all know that we won't have Utopia until we tax at the 100% rate. But there needs to be one more guy willing to stand up and vote against that stuff at the county, and you can only blame JS for the next 4 or 5 years after his tenure ends for the problems that are coming. Let's face it- you clowns are still dredging up Frank Duci's name every autumn to scare people from voting Republican, and he was of office last century. After that you will need to find another minority member who doesn't control a vote for a scapegoat. People will forget who he is.

Once you have every seat, it will be hard to find someone to blame, or you will become like the Soviets who blamed America for 50 years for their bread shortages. Who will you blame then? Saratogians? C'mon, be real. You ain't fooling as many people as you think.

Any different then the republicans dredging up Jim Constantino's name to scare people from voting Dem in Rotterdam?  Typical hypocritical Republican rhetoric from Joe Sue Rah Rah, Tom and Gerry, Stevie Ego, Sigsnore and Mortz!

GB ~ PDQ is right.  You guys keep going to the well on Constantino, but none of the recent administrations have done much better.  As for the criminal actions, really, you don't think your local Rotterdam boys are up to no good?  Don't worry, the public will have their say.

As for Surhada, he's chicken little.  He has not credibility because he has no accomplishments in public office and his entry into local Rotterdam politics is seen as nothing more than infighting among the new Republican guard!  Don't argue that he's a great guy because he votes 'no' on everything, tell us when his 'no' vote really ever meant anything.  Joe will lose this year and it will be a complete emabarassment.

Dems are poised, and at the end of the day ~ it's a shame the party has come to this.

Not too long ago your mentor, and practically the whole party's mentor went to prison for taking bribes so that the roads being built in town didn't have to meet engineering specifications. His town attorney is the deputy county attorney now thanks to your esteemed Democrat county legislators. He grabbed girls, dozens of them at Mohonasen on numerous occasions over the years while your standard bearer was president of the school board the the whole thing was hushed up. We are still feeling the financial effect of his "road construction deal" as the town struggles to resurface, rebuild, and re-do the drainage messes that he created by taking bribes from developers. And this was withing the 12 years or so. Frank Duci was out of office in the mid-nineties as well, but when did he (or his advisors) ever get thrown into jail for molestation, or racketeering charges? The problem is that the same group of people that worked hand in glove with Jim Constantino are seeking to lead the town THIS YEAR. Duci's people are not involved in the Republican party since most passed away a long time ago.

Oh they were so good at rooting out corruption and keeping things straight, and watching things then were they not? Those 'watch-dog' Democrats of Rotterdam. You guys want to reinvent yourselves more times than Maddonna.

What did Bob know about Constantino touching girls and when did he know it? Inquiring minds want to know. My sources tell me he knew plenty. Maybe a few of those sources will ask him to his face why he did not stick up for them when they were teenage girls, and being touched by the leader of the Democrat party in town. Who was there to protect those girls? Which police agency investigated it and stopped it? Which democrat party man made a fuss...shhhhhhhhhhh...hush....shhhhhhh....

Ok, get those panties bunched up now. Go on, boys.

GB ~ You're the best!  Yes BOB GODLEWSKI, he's talking about you.  This is the Parisi/Tommasone Liberal Express attempting to run down anyone who dares to question them.  Hit as hard as you can and see how much blood you can draw.

Guess what GB ~ I hope you guys are ready because I am quite sure Mr. Godlewski and Company will be more than willing to shed light on all the nonsense going on in town hall.  Yes, borderline corruption.  Actually, now that I think about it, you may be working to get Tommasone out of office, I mean actually calling Bob Hope's bluff?

Didn't Bob give the town a little, tiny taste of Steve's manipulation of assessments?  I am sure we can expect a whole lot more from Bob "the watchdog" Godlewski.  Yea, GB, go ahead and provoke him ~ that's a great idea.  Then again, I don't think he needs any provoking, I think he's sick and tired of watching and listening to the self-proclaimed angels say how they are perfect and never do anything wrong.

The Dems are going to have a lot of fun.  It's going to start with Parisi and work it's way down the line and nobody gets left out.  I can see the election brochure now:  "Time to clean up town hall"

Did anyone have a chance to find out who the architect is behind the Parisi/Tommasone opposition?  I wonder how ashamed of themselves these guys will be when their corruption is made public, nothing is worse than dishonoring your family name.

Who are the Feds sniffing around at now?  Shady computer contracts, kickbacks to the town law firm, quid pro quo for assessment reductions.  Gimme a break dude.  You is toast!

Because there are no County contested races and no opponents elsewhere the DEMS are flooding the town with flyers, people in funny T-shirts and the usually phony promises. They smell blood in the water and want to get back in power at all costs. Look for the usual sign pollution and flyers filled with more spending "ideas" in every door.

Suhrada has a slim to no chance of being elected. He is for raising taxes. (REMS) IMHO

Right, a true liberal all the way. That is what everyone feels. I heard he was in Move-On too.

I cant believe their stand on their signs is just for REMS....."saving REMS"......IT'S NOT A PERSON....it's a business.....and folks should
know that and be informed......the ignorant think it's "just going to supply itself", BLS/ALS(who knows), etc etc.....

the cost WILL ALWAYS GO UP.......let the taxing district firehouses do it........attach them to what we already pay for......

We are NOT a metropolis.....we are POEDUNK ROTTERDAM....

BTW----is there a station in the junction? We will have to pay for the building and support of one in THE JUNCTION......Rotterdam
goes beyond the town proper.......

who lives in THE JUNCTION?
