On CNN, Lynyrd Skynyrd had said they were wary of the flag's association with hate groups.
"Through the years, people like the KKK and skinheads kinda kidnapped the Dixie or Southern
flag from its tradition and the heritage of the soldiers, that's what it was about," Gary Rossington,
the band's guitarist, said. "We didn't want that to go to our fans or show the image like we agreed
with any of the race stuff or any of the bad things."

Kinda Like If They Used A Swastika or some other racist symbol for their logo!
Yea right.

Symbolism over substance... you lefties take Symbolism EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

As long as the "correct" symbol is used, you'll look the other way when improper things are done...or excuse it with "well, the intent was good"

What makes me laugh is that you all actually think you're better than the people you rail against for a symbol or flag....

Hey.....freedom of speech!
It would appear that everyone has the freedom to 'dislike' 'not agree with' a person, race, religion, symbol, culture, sex...blah blah blah....
as long as they don't 'hurt' anyone in the process.
But I mean really folks.........not everyone agrees with or likes EVERYONE for WHATEVER reason(fact of life)......and they have the constitutional right to 'say it'.

obviously....as long as you don't physically hurt them....duh?

some folks are jerks about it and some folks have a personal good reason.

I mean REALLY!!!

as far as a flag....I could give 2 sh!ts about a piece of cloth!!!!

I don't know why anyone would consider this confederate flag to be racist...
What would give them that idea???

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) will hold a news conference today at which, sources said, she
will call for the Confederate flag to come down from the Statehouse grounds, the Charleston Post
and Courier reports.

“The move comes as lawmakers are exploring if the removal can be done legislatively in the coming
days, tying their heightened attention to the recent shooting deaths of nine members of the Emanuel
AME Church in Charleston.”

The New York Times reports that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will also call for the Confederate
battle flag to be removed from the state’s Capitol.

Yup... And I could show you pics of the American flag being used for bad...the American flag next to a hanging Obama (and Bush) in Arab countries .but why bother? You believe the symbol is more important than the act

The Virginia battle flag will come down, but it won't change A THING... again, NOTHING but a symbolic act. The KKK and other hate groups aren't going to disband...
SO typical of reaction by people who want change, but know in their hearts, it isn't easy, So they point to a symbol, person(s) in the past and say "we need to get rid of and forget those things" and when the protest march is over, they go home and not a dam thing has changed...

There will always be hate, and there will always be violence in the name of it.

John Oliver is a Brit.  I wonder if he feels the same way about the British flag flying in America.  We know he feels that way about that Irish Flag in Britian.

"United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".

The name refers to the union of what were once four separate nations: England, Scotland,
Wales and Ireland (though most of Ireland is now independent).
