The FACTS are that the city is doing its job  by enforcing its codes, the city issued warning citations and the city is willing to work with the property owners to fix the code violations.

Provide the EVIDENCE of your claim of "fact" that the city is willing to work with the owners.   Come on DV, provide one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE.

DV, learn the FACTS and address them, the TRUE FACTS:

1.  Galesi is a BILLIONAIRE and McCarthy is FORCING the financially struggling homeowners to pay for the demolition of a building Galesi owns.
2.  McCarthy FORCED the financially struggling homeowners in the city to pay for that building that Popolizio owned that had a fire where someone died, McCarthy FAILED to go after Popolizio and seize his assets.
3.  McCarthy FORCING the financially struggling homeowners to pay for the demolition of all those other houses in the city rather than McCarthy taking action to seize the assets of people who owned those houses!
4.  McCarthy FORCES the financially struggling people of the city to pay the taxes of all of his rich political cronies

5.  Despite TENS OF MILLIONS upon TENS OF MILLIONS of dollars of the taxpayer's money being spent on and given to millionaire political cronies of the mayor downtown, in the name of "economic development" the tax base of the city has CONSISTENTLY BEEN FALLING EVERY YEAR.

And tell us DV, what violations made up the "80% that complied" ?????   Probably nothing more costly than the house numbers being of the wrong size oor maybe grass that was an inch taller than the dictator allows.

So again, tell us how the city is working with homeowners who are paying for the taxes of the rich political cronies.  Tell us DV, since McCarthy is forcing the poor to pay for the demolition of a building owned by a billionaire, tell us what McCarthy how McCarthy is going to help the poor financially.

ONCE AGAIN, DV will NOT answer the questions, he will NOT provide a shred of evidence.  He never has evidence to support what he says.

Quoted from Dirt2
Quoted from the article: "McCarthy was in New York City on Friday. He spoke with NEWS10 by phone and said the city is planning to address the issues, but there is work that needs to be done inside the building and he wants to get all the work done at the same time."

Any time limit on this work? 15, 30, 45 days?

File this one in the same cabinet that holds the high taxes, low home values are a better deal farcical statement.

Hey, DV, how many DAYS is your beloved McCarthy going to give himself to get city hall fixed?   Well?   Got an answer?   The FACT is that the financially struggling homeowners may be doing work that needs to be done INSIDE their homes and can't afford to do both because McTHIEF FORCIBLY makes these struggling people pay for the palaces downtown.

See, YOU do not have the remotest clue what normal people struggle with.  You are not a homeowner/taxpayer having to worry about having money to make repairs on your house.   You are not even a renter worried about whether the landlord will make repairs or even if the landlord will be renew your lease when it's up.  You don't have a care in the world being supported by your two rich mommies who have so much money that in old age they can build a new house so you don't even experience them making difficult financial decisions!

Is the city making this building owner deal with his/her peeling paint?

How much will you bet that McCarthy makes the taxpayers address the looks of that building?

You let him know, and I'll let him know to sent the list of addresses of the properties that were cited for violations to you because you VOLUNTEER to pay for all the repairs.

ROFL   The word "volunteer" is not part of DV's vocabulary.   Not to volunteer to pay (donate) money.  Not to actually physically volunteer.   He has his two mommies include his name in donations (such as for a recently deceased priest).  Was he volunteering at any of the recent parks clean-ups in town?  NO.  Does he volunteer at the Concern for the Hungry?  NO.  Has he ever been seen volunteering to hand out lunches to the children of the people in Schenectady who can't afford to give lunches to their kids (because they are paying the taxes of McCarthy's rich political cronies)  NO    Wonder if he's even helping take care of a couple with two little children this week

OOO, we're scared, DVOR is going to tell the mayor we will make repairs! Then we'll have to do all that work ourselves, or something! Because we got told on!
What the heck does 'wanting to do all the work at the same time' have to do with neglecting the historic city hall? As far as lame excuses go, that is one of the lamest I have ever heard. Try that at work, sometime. "Where's that assignment I gave you?" Gee, boss, you gave me TWO assignments, and I didn't want to get one done before the other, just because."
Does every neighborhood get equal treatment, in these "sweeps"? It does not look that way to me at all.

.  It has been said over and over again - that after past code enforcement sweeps over 80% of the code issues cited were resolved WITHOUT EVER HAVING THE NEED TO END UP WITH A COURT APPEARANCE OR A FINE.

Tell us DV, tell us how very hard it is for a property owner to comply when one code violation was that there were cigarette butts on the ground next to a fire hydrant??????

Tell us DV, tell us how very hard it is for a property owner to comply when one code violation is that the trash cans were stored out of sight -- required by code-- (of passers by) in the rear of the house, however they were on the porch.  (I don't know the details of the porch -- could have been an open porch, and what the hell is the difference if the can is stored 2 feet from the back door but up on the porch level which might be one step up from the ground, vs having the can stored 2 feet from the back door but on the ground)

Actually, I don't know if these two were part of that sweep that made the news, but speaker at this past council meeting stated that they were violated for these teeny insignificant issues.  Gee. maybe some people walked by and tossed their cigarettes on the ground next to the fire hydrant, and the property owner did not have time to pick them up yet.

YES, IT'S A BIG SAFETY HAZARD to have some cigarette butts next to a fire hydrant.

DV, maybe the 80% compliance occurred because it merely meant the owners had to pick up some cigarette butts.

These two

Here is a non-profit program that works with the disabled and the elderly to help them stay in their homes.  They will do house repairs and lawn work.

www.theumbrella.org/
Non-profit agency providing regional services to help seniors and people with disabilities live in their own homes and maintain independence.

Still waiting for you to tell us what help is available for young families in the city, struggling financially to pay the high taxes while trying to feed and clothe their children......well DV, where is the financial help for them?    You still have not told us how such homeowners are supposed to make repairs since they have no money.

a co-worker found this on the Schenectady city website.

Quoted Text
Schenectady City Government

Schenectady, New York Mayor Gary McCarthy today announced that Schenectady will invest $500,000 in neighborhood-based home rehab projects thanks to new grant funding received by the City. The neighborhood home renovation work is funded through a $400,000 grant received from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation and an additional $100,000 in federal HOME funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City will partner with the Community Land Trust to renovate affordable housing in Schenectady with a special focus on existing, owner-occupied homes that need to correct basic structural defects which negatively impact residents and neighborhoods prolonging the useful life of these homes.

“Improving the quality of housing for residents not only helps home owners, it improves our city neighborhoods. We thank the State Affordable Housing Corporation and the Community Land Trust for working with us to keep moving our neighborhood revitalization efforts forward,” said Mayor Gary McCarthy.

Schenectady is investing almost $10 million in neighborhood upgrades including demolition of blighted properties and renovations to houses that need improvements. The new funding will add to the City’s neighborhood efforts.

Bev Burnett, Executive Director of the CLT of Schenectady (Community Land Trust) said, “We are excited to partner with Schenectady to see these home improvements move forward in City neighborhoods.”

Schenectady has previously partnered with Community Land Trust using nearly $2 million in HOME and other funding to renovate 109 units throughout the City in the past five years. The individual grants can be for up to $50,000, with each project not to exceed 120 days from the date of contractor hire.

Interested homeowners will be required to attend an informational session for the program. Eligible applicants will be approved on a “first come-first serve” basis. If there are applicants with the same approval date, the units having the highest need in terms of health and safety issues to be addressed will be given priority.

The new grant funding for home renovations supplements the City’s $3 million HUD 108 Loan Guarantee which is removing blighted structures city-wide, $3 million in HUD Lead Safe Housing funding, which provides major rehabs to homes to improve the lead safety and quality of the housing and $3 million in funding from Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman for the Capital Region Land Bank, which is doing demolitions and rehabilitation projects.

Did it say when they got this grant? I hope we didn't harass elderly women into paying for expensive repairs, only to see others receive thousands in free government money later on.
The article contains some lies, of course, because knocking down some buildings with a loan homeowners have to pay back isn't investing.
