Stewarts remodeled and they put in a sidewalk

The dispatch center was built and they put in a sidewalk

The old grand union place there, this Superior Office Products, they don't have to put in a sidewalk?  It does not look like they are doing anything to install a sidewalk.

So does that mean you walk out in the road there?  I mean not even an asphalt path?   Are they exempt because the developers  have connections?

Grand Union was there prior to the ADA requirements. New construction generally requires sidewalk.

The simple answer to the question is that there will be a sidewalk.  It was required as a condition for site approval.   Its exact placement will depend on the state DOT which is surveying the Hamburg Street corridor for a major upgrade to Route 146.

That's what comes from always looking at the world negatively and jumping to conclusions.

Now, the real concern (IMHO) is whether or not a sewer line will be included in Route 146 project.  THAT is the more important and unresolved issue.

I guess people will have to walk in the road over there too. We have a sidewalk on busy Heldeberg Ave, between Curry Rd. and the Mohonasen bus garage, but people park their cars on it like it's their driveways! Kids walking to school, joggers and walkers have to walk in the road in that area. Seems the Rotterdam police can't be bothered to warn them to stop
parking on the sidewalk. So, what good is a sidewalk?

If it is required and was included in the site plans, how did they get a certificate of occupancy without it?
I guess it's who ya know...

Yup....need those sidewalks cause there are so many 'free range' kids now-a-days!

And what sidewalk is used down curry road when going to curry freeze?

as a side note.....no ROTTENdamians better bit@h when their tax bills go up cause there are more sidewalks to snowblow/maintain.

add more crap....pay more taxes!

Someone asked us.

I hadn't noticed until someone asked us last week

So I asked here.

I may be wrong, feel free to correct me, but I thought I heard or read somewhere that any time a property on Hamburg St applies for a building permit, that they are required to put in sidewalks

Stewarts put them in, they are a private company.

This is this private property.  Oh, but wait, the taxpayers are footing some of the cost.  Then is this a case of a politically connected company who won't put the sidewalk in now because the state will do it later, thus putting the burden of the cost of their sidewalks on the taxpayers with the cost of putting in a sidewalk?

Personally I have no problem with sewers getting put in on Hamburg under one condition.  They must not force homeowners in the residential areas off Hamburg to connect to them.  Actually, the powers that be also should not force the residential properties ON Hamburg St to hook up to a sewer system.

Both of us seem to remember that the town once said they would not put in sidewalks unless they had the money to put in the sewers at the same time.  That is common sense if the sidewalks would have to be ripped up some few years later to put in sewers if money became available.  Thus curious if sewers are part of this state project and if not, then why are we taxpayers going to pay for sidewalks if they will be ripped up to put sewers in some day.  I would guess sewers are not in the foreseeable future, or longer for that matter.

Did you bother reading earlier responses?  I mean the guy you always challenge to provide information
provided the answer....is it not a good enough answer for you???

NOBODY IS FORCED TO HOOK UP TO SEWER SYSTEMS!!!!!!!

However....EVERYONE in the sewer district pays a sewer tax whether they connect or not.

Before sewers can come in...that district has to vote on it.

I did see that.  But DOT spoke of the sidewalks in 2010.  So how come the Stewarts and the dispatch center did not wait for the DOT plans?  I mean really, the dispatch center wasn't the remotest thought in 2010.  In 2010 Stewarts certainly could have had the remodel of the the Hamburg St store on a to do list but not developed yet, so they definitely would have known about DOT installing sidewalks when they applied for building permits, right?

Thanks, but residential homeowners pay enough in taxes, and if they recently put in a new septic system, they are supposed to pay twice?  I mean, they would have shelled out probably $5,000 for a septic system and pay for a sewer district too.

Figure this, the re-do of Hamburg St is not going to start until winter of 2016.  If they were going to put sewers in, but residential homeowner has no choice but to put a new septic system in, shells out $5,000, and then a year later they are FORCED to pay for public sewers that they are not even hooked up to?   And I'm wondering, if a residence did hook up to the sewer system, what happens to their septic system, I'm guessing some cost involved in somehow eliminating the system.  VERY costly to homeowners.  Businesses can more easily take on the cost, if worse comes to worse, they have the ability to raise prices.  Homeowners cannot force their employers to pay them more, homeowners cannot force Social Security to pay them more, and these piddling little $10 to 15 a month increase they get is hardly enough to cover the their costs.

NO ONE IS FORCED!!

THEY HAVE TO VOTE ON IT FIRST!!

Historically, it has been voted DOWN....and I predict, it will be voted down if brought to a vote again.

It's THEIR CHOICE!!
