The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

was it tainted during prohibition? Yes Denatured

Denatured alcohol, also called methylated spirits or spiritus, is ethanol that has additives to make it poisonous, extremely bad tasting, foul smelling or nauseating, to discourage recreational consumption. In some cases it is also dyed.

I happen to be reading "One Summer: America 1927" which talks about prohibition. Great book if you like history.

I find it quaint that box posts a meme about selfishness using the words of a guy whose net worth is $2 million.

Yup...the federal government actually poisoned their own citizen because they wanted to control what they put into their body.  Another gold star for the federal government.

Let us not forget, prohibition was passed by a democrat controlled house.  Majority of support was democrat in both houses of congress.  So much for personal liberty.

.

You see the same with drug prohibition today, many synthetic marijuana substitutes being sold at corner stores all around the country is causing more damage then regular pot ever could. Not to mention the rise in black market sales and what comes with it due to prohibition, exactly the same thing that was seen with the prohibition of alcohol.

Sorry Cissy, but Christopher has been dead since 2011!
Chris did leave behind some very appropriate words, which seem to be have
written just for you Cicero:

There are all kinds of stupid people that annoy me
but what annoys me most is a lazy argument.

3-4 months a year of your labor isn't enough, we are just being selfish, I wonder if box would give a estimate on how many months a year people should give in their labor and money to not be in that "selfish" category.

up a new definition)

Box, you support forcing everybody to buy health insurance, you support forcing people to own energy efficient light bulbs, you support restricting what people can put in their bodies, you fear any suggestion of eliminating government mandates as being an anarchist.  YOU ARE BY DEFINITION AN AUTHORITARIAN.  You just think in this upside down country that your authoritarianism is left wing.  The fact is, most democrats and republicans are right wing fascist authoritarians, and have been for decades.
