Scientists in England have found human footprints that are at least 800,000 years old, the earliest evidence of human life outside of Africa. The team discovered the footprints in estuary mud in Happisburgh, on England's east coast. The prints are "a tangible link to our earliest human relatives," says British Museum scientist Nick Ashton. The scientists believe the footprints may be related to Homo antecessor, a.k.a. "pioneer man," which died out 800,000 years ago.

That is why they say "believe" or "may". With each passing year, science gathers more evidence to indicate what the earth was like that long ago. No Cissy, you're wrong. Since there is no positive exact date of the origins of the earth... no one is 100% totally sure how old the earth is. But one thing that is absolutely universally accepted among all serious scientists throughout the world... It's older than 6000 years old! Best estimates 4.54 billion years old. Which is real close to the 6000 year old biblical version.

What left that footprint is in question. Based on the available evidence it is most reasonable to expect the footprint to be made by a human ancestor. Homo Erectus or Homo Heidelbergensis or Homo Antecessor could be likely candidates.
