HERKIMER -- Herkimer County Police are searching for a suspect after shootings at two different businesses left four people dead and at least two wounded.
State police tell local media outlets two unidentified people were shot and killed Wednesday morning at a car wash in the village of Herkimer and two others were killed in a barber shop in the village of Mohawk, about 65 miles east of Syracuse.
They say a total of six people were shot.
Herkimer Village police would only say that there was a shooting and a manhunt.
Herkimer County Community College and local schools are on lockdown.

KIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Four people are dead after two related shootings in Herkimer County.
State Police say two people were shot and killed at about 9:30 a.m. at Gaffey's Car Wash on Mohawk Street in Herkimer. A short time later, two more people were shot and killed on South Washington Street in the Village of Mohawk.
State Police say they are still looking for the gunman, but there is what appears to be an active standoff on Main Street in Herkimer. There is a large police presence as well as a SWAT team on site.
Herkimer Police describe the suspect as a white man in his mid-60s, around 5’11” tall, with a grey beard, and wearing a flannel shirt.
A number of schools are on lockdown as a precaution. The schools on lockdown include Ilion and Herkimer schools, Herkimer BOCES, Frankfort-Schuyler CSD, Fisher Elementary and Jarvis Junior-Senior High School.
Little Falls Hospital is also on lockdown. They are accepting ambulances, but everyone is being screened.

Joseph Malone, the police chief for Herkimer and Mohawk, says authorities are looking for 64-year-old Kurt Meyers, of Mohawk. Officials say guns and ammunition were found inside his apartment after emergency crews were sent to a fire there Wednesday morning.
