The lame stream media always has a lot to say when they push an agenda but not a peep about horrific abortion trial going on in Penn.

And this has what to do with the thread topic???

They push their anti-gun agenda but are silent on other important issues, very selective subject matter.

OK.  If you insist...

If it's so important to you, why not post it under it's own thread???

Because that thread will get hijacked into a anti-gun thread

Done with Outrage

Written by Nate Atkins on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 8:08 AM EDT in Articles

I’m done with outrage. I’m done with being outraged. It’s over, passed, and I have little time for it and care little to feel it. To me, it represents the decaying selective actions of an incensed political left and right.

Recently, a morning talk radio host here in Minnesota named Bob Davis of “Davis & Emmer” on KTLK (K-Talk as they are known) had this to say about the victim’s families of the Newtown shooting this last December: “I have something I want to say to the victims of Newtown or any other shooting, I don’t care if it’s here in Minneapolis or anyplace else. Just because a bad thing happened to you doesn’t mean that you get to put a king in charge of my life. I’m sorry that you suffered a tragedy, but you know what? Deal with it, and don’t force me to lose my liberty, which is a greater tragedy than your loss. I’m sick and tired of seeing these victims trotted out, given rides on Air Force One, hauled into the Senate well, and everyone is … terrified of these victims. I would stand in front of them and tell them, ‘Go to hell.’ ”

People from both the left and right have voiced their distaste and disagreement with Davis’ comments but it is the left that is the most shocked, outraged, and incensed. This should be of little surprise considering Davis’ outspoken support of the 2nd amendment and the steadfastness with which he defends it. Many of my liberal friends have taken to their Facebook pages to protest Davis. Many have listed the companies which purchase ad time during Davis’ morning show and have urged others to contact these companies and demand they pull their support from the show. The fervor this has caused can be heartily felt with a simple perusing of the comments section at the Huffington Post, the Star Tribune’s website (the Star Tribune is the local paper here in the Twin Cities), or most any other online news site which has run an article detailing Davis’ comments.

No doubt his comments were insensitive and uncalled for. I certainly didn’t agree with what he said and believe he was right to apologize (which he did several days later). Regardless, I couldn’t help but feel somewhat indifferent to not only his comments but also the response from those on the left who are organizing in ways befitting for a group outraged and motivated to right such a wrong.

In short, I’m done with the outrage. I’m done with their outrage.

The reason is simple. Consider that since President Obama took office in 2009 the number of casualties for both US troops and civilians in Afghanistan has grown exponentially. Consider that in this time the use of predator drones not only in Afghanistan but also Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and others has more than doubled resulting in a disproportionate number of civilian to terrorist casualties. In fact, some estimates run in the thousands for civilian casualties yet the government carries out these missions on targets merely suspected of being involved with a terrorist organization. Consider that Obama not only had a US citizen, Anwar al-Awlaki, assassinated with a predator drone before being convicted or even charged with a crime but that he (Obama) also had al-Awlaki’s 16 year old son killed while he was out with his friends. Consider that our military footprint on the world has only grown in the past 5 years and not shrunk as once promised. Consider that military spending has only grown and now far outpaces any other civilized country in the world. Consider that while those on the left demand tighter and stricter gun control laws they stand silent while the Department of Homeland Security orders billions, and I mean BILLIONS, of rounds of hollow-point ammunition. This ammunition can’t be used in warfare, it violates international laws regarding warfare (the idea of laws governing wars makes me chuckle). This ammunition can only be used on the people in the U.S.

One would think that these facts would inspire outrage among those on the left. I have little doubt that if these things had occurred under a republican president that the streets would swell with protesters and my Facebook feed would read like a laundry list of these wrongs by both my libertarian-ish and liberal friends.

It is the lack of concern on the left that leaves me feeling done with their “outrage”. While Davis’ comments may hurt the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre they are still just words. Furthermore, Davis is nothing more than a talk radio personality. He wields no power in regards to policy matters, he sure as hell can’t order the assassination of a 16 year old kid, and he definitely has not ordered hundreds of drone strikes in various countries resulting in the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent civilians.

In the end, let me say again that I’m done with “outrage”. It’s nothing more than a phenomenon of a stale and vapid partisan hackery.

I suppose I could be tempted to be outraged myself about something, even instances such as Davis’ comments, if those “outraged” by his words could remain consistent and recognize there is so much more to be truly outraged by.

But, I’m not holding my breath.

Poo-tee-weet?

Who Would Give A .22 Rifle To A 5 Year Old?

Who?

@sshole GunHuggers, of course!

Quoted Text
A 5-year-old boy in Kentucky shot and killed his 2-year-old sister on Tuesday while
playing with a .22 caliber rifle that he was given as a gift, state police said in a statement.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the shooting happened at the family’s home in
Cumberland County around 1 p.m. The 2-year-old girl was later pronounced dead at
Cumberland County Hospital.

The girl was identified as Caroline Starks by Cumberland County Coroner Gary White.

White said that the boy had been given the rifle as a gift last year and that the mother
had been at home when the shooting occurred. The rifle was normally kept in a corner
of the home, but family members did not realize the gun had been loaded.

“It’s a Crickett,” the coroner explained. “It’s a little rifle for a kid… The little boy’s used
to shooting the little gun.”

“Just one of those crazy accidents,” he added.

There are some GunHuggers who think their 2nd amendment rights applies to 5 year olds...
and those GunHuggers would consider this shooting an "accident"!
Giving a 5 year old a rifle... allowing a 5 year old access to a loaded .22...
is no accident!

More children drown in their backyard swimming pool than gun accidents.

Those damn POOL HUGGERS!  Ban recreational water sports, it is an uneccessary risk that leads to WAY TOO MANY DEATHS.

By Cicero's post you'd have to assume that he is in favor of rifles for 5 year olds.

I think it's fair to assume that he didn't learn that in Government Schools... he must have
came to that conclusion all by himself.
I doubt that Cic learned very much at all in Government Schools. If he did learn anything, he
hides it well.

I believe the issue is that parents should have the right to decide, not you and Karl Marx.

Actions have consequences.

If you stopped trying to save every imbecile in the country, the average intelligence would increase.

Stop trying to make it illegal to be stupid and reckless.

You just want to bankrupt social security.

I don't care much what Cicero supports...
Giving a loaded .22 to a 5 year old is about as dumb as it gets.  Apparently people like Cicero, who
support 5 year olds with guns, are so mentally impaired that they don't understand the danger involved.

When that little kid starts shooting, everyone within a mile and a half is in danger of being
shot.

Parents DID decide....a 2 yr old girl is dead!!!
Parental choice or Government control or Psych exams would not have made a difference.
STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE happened here....
round in the gun...no one practiced gun control
weapon in corner....not locked away
5 yr old handles weapon without adult present....ignorance at it's best
Now a 2 yr old dead...a 5 yr old to live the rest of his life knowing
he murdered his sister....parents to live with the two tragedies for the rest of their lives!

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!

Freedom and rights are not free.

A child's death caused by retarded irresponsible parenting, is no excuse to punish all other parents.

Today it was a gun. Tomorrow a child will burn down a house and kill people after finding a lighter.

Kids do stupid crap. They need supervision.

Using these types of incidents to pass laws that punish good responsible parents is not the solution.
