Massachusetts tightened its gun laws a few years ago and the result: licensed gun ownership fell 80% and gun-related crimes INCREASED 200%.
The horrific tragedy in Newtown, CT is (IMHO) more a result of a failure of the mental health system and the values system in our country. A nation that can seemingly accept without flinching the killing of 50,000,000 pre-born human babies since 1973 -- shouldn't be surprised that some members of society think nothing of taking a gun (or some other lethal weapon/instrument) to a school or a mall or a movie theater to kill as many people as they can.
Does values include an adult man who doesn't live like a normal adult man should?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
This is what happens when a stampede hijacks a thread.
The subject of School Shootings ends up about Drugs in America and Drone Strikes in Yemen.
You have your blinders on, you are trying to spin all talk away from the motivation/reason of this attack. It happens to be the shooter was very into the Military, he had posters of MILITARY guns and tanks in his room, so since he was into militarism why is it hard for you to admit he may have been motivated by the actions of our military. Also the uncle of the shooter said he was prescribed medication so bumblethru's argument is a reasonable one to bring up in this debate. Hell even your liberal hero Michael Moore brought up the connections between our militarism and the motivation for these attacks, chances are you, your brothers in arms, and your leaders are the prime motivators here, how does it feel box to have the blood of these children on your hands >

Which one is more likely to motivate a nutcase to target humans
NRA sponsored shoot (shooting paper)
Military sponsored shoot (Vietnam)

Since this thread has long ago evolved into an Everything Thread... and since we are posting our favorite shootin video's...
I decided to post my favorite 'gun nut' shootin' vid... "When Targets Shoot Back!"

Sorry, the victims are too dead to put up a web page. Do you imagine they were used to bomb the forests like your Viet Nam argument in favor of carpet bombings? Your argument that people aren't the target of bombs is psychopathic.(lack of capability to feel guilt, compassion or empathy)
Yea, that's what I figured... Fat on talk... Skinny on FACTS!
Ya got nuttin'!

He wants to ban all weapons with a clip of seven shots or more.... My wife's handgun has an eight shot clip... Will Cuomo reimburse us for our now illegal $300 gun or pay for a legal clip? Somehow, I doubt it.

Assault weapons bans and clip bans are not usually retroactive.
Many people still buy large capacity clips that are dated pre-ban.

Direct line from the article: "The talks include toughening some gun-registration rules and closing a loophole that allows for the sale of large ammunition magazines manufactured before 1994."
So much for being retroactive....next?

Prohibit Large Capacity Ammunition Clips - A. 5866-A (Jeffries)Current law allows large capacity clips to be sold and possessed if they were manufactured before9/13/1994. However, experts and advocates agree that there is no way to discern when such a device wasmanufactured, and, thus, if its possession is lawful. This bill closes the loophole that allows for the sale ofthese high capacity devices. Too many people have died and been injured in violent shooting rampages inwhich perpetrators have used large ammunition clips to strike down innocents
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
The Northeast, with some of the strictest gun laws has the lowest gun death rate. The area of the US with the highest rate? The South, with the weakest gun laws.
