GOP six-pack in running to replace Amedore
By David Lombardo
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

There are at least six Republicans interested in running for Republican George Amedore's Assembly seat if he follows through on his plan to run for the proposed 63rd state Senate seat.
Town of Minden Supervisor Thomas Quackenbush, town of Amsterdam Supervisor Thomas DiMezza — a Democrat who recently filed paperwork to become a Republican — Schenectady attorney Joseph Villano and at least three other Schenectady County Republicans may run, according to Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman Joseph Emanuele III.
The only Democratic candidate is Schenectady County Legislator Angelo Santabarbara, who lost in 2010 to Amedore and has an active Assembly campaign committee.
Emanuele said he is not aware of any Albany County Republicans yet.
If the proposed Assembly lines are adopted for the 105th District, which would become the 111th Assembly District and include Montgomery County and parts of Schenectady and Albany counties, candidates would be screened by the three Republican county committees.
As drawn up by the Assembly Democrats, the proposed district has more Democratic voters than Republican voters, as it does now, as well. The Gazette's estimates for the district puts the margin at about 8,000 more Democrats, which is comparable to what the current district has. The Democratic advantage stems mostly from the portion of this district that is in Schenectady.
The proposed district has about 78,000 registered voters, with 2,800 Conservative Party, 4,200 Independence Party and 17,000 independent voters.......................>>>>........................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.com/we.....ing-replace-amedore/

Mr. Quackenbush is one of the finest individuals in that region..   He would be a fine candidate for Assembly --- although I do believe that any Republican will be thoroughly trounced by the stellar Angelo Santabarbara.    His work on the County Legislature is legendary and his ability to get the task DONE for his constituents is immense..   He is handsome, articulate, and a fine family man of firm repute..   If we lived in a different era in our glorious history --I would challenge anyone to a duel who would defame HIM or ANY member of his wonderful family.

A-Jello couldn't win dog catcher after he kept illegal RIDA money and still refuses to return it to the oppressed Rotterdam taxpayers. Someone wake up the Town Attorney on this scandal. Tom DiMezza is a top vote getter in the Town of Amsterdam. He will crush A-Jello-if A-Jello survives a DEM primary. Which is highly unlikely after he got fired at his day job.

CROSSING LINES
At Wiles Park in Montgomery County Tuesday night, Kosiur worked the crowd with Minden Supervisor Tom Quackenbush, a Republican.
Quackenbush endorsed Kosiur, his longtime friend, for Tonko’s seat. Democrat Tom DiMezza, Amsterdam town supervisor and chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, endorsed his friend Amedore.
Quackenbush said he’s taken some fire from Montgomery County Republican leaders for supporting Kosiur but said friendship is more important than politics. Quackenbush said he will see if his cross-party support hurts him, as he is seeking re-election in November to another two-year term as supervisor.
For now, Quackenbush is using his influence to help Kosiur win votes in the heavily Republican town.

Money gap grows in 111th Assembly race
Candidates raised around $35k; early spending and fundraising differs

By John Purcell As of Thursday, July 26, 2012 -3:08 p.m.

#CAPITAL DISTRICT — Two candidates vying to represent the 111th Assembly District have raised similar amounts of money, but one’s spending has his reserves running low.

#Angelo Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam, is seeking an Assembly seat for the second time after being reelected to the Schenectady County Legislature last year. This is Santabarbara’s third straight year of campaigning and he’s drawing on his existing war chest.

#Thomas Quackenbush, R-Fort Plain, was in 1997 first elected as mayor of the Village of Fort Plain. In 2002, Quackenbush was elected Town of Minden supervisor and has held six consecutive terms in that office.

#Required July campaign finance reports filed by both campaigns shows Quackenbush raised $34,850 to Santabarbara’s $31,150 worth of donations.......................>>>>..................>>>>..................http://www.schenectadyspotlight.com/news/2012/jul/26/money-gap-grows-111th-assembly-race/

Let Lower Taxes Now have line on the ballot

The recent lawsuit attempting to disallow a ballot line for the Lower Taxes Now! [party] is quite enlightening.
First, the lawsuit was filed by a so-called Conservative and Republican candidate. Isn’t lowering taxes supposed to be what that candidate should be fi ghting for?
Second, almost 1,700 voters signed a petition saying they want [county Legislator] Angelo Santabarbara running for state Assembly on the Lower Taxes Now! ballot line.
Whether our individual politics support lowering taxes is one thing. Attempting to thwart the voice of the taxpayers is another.
It appears Mr. Santabarbara’s opponent cannot successfully put his record against Mr. Santabarbara’s, of repeatedly cutting taxes and never voting to raise taxes.

Santabarbara fine, but enough with the mailings

Angelo Santabarbara is candidate for the state Assembly. Party affiliation is irrelevant since they are all the same.
Angelo is a nice man; I have talked to him on more than one occasion. Angelo is sensitive to taxpayer concerns but he is powerless to effect change. Ditto all assemblymen.
My only complaint with Angelo is he is becoming omnipresent. His mailings fill up my mailbox, money better spent on food pantries. I turned on a cable access channel and, guess what, Angelo appears on my TV.
It would be a grand gesture if the politicians spent money on charities and not selfpromotion. At the very least, all politicians should take me off their mailing list.

Santabarbara, county right to back electric cars

It is nice to see the Schenectady County Legislature take the lead on efforts to promote electric car use within our county. I commend Legislator Angelo Santabarbara for being the sole sponsor of a resolution seeking a grant to build vehicle charging stations in the county, and I am glad that he was able to persuade his colleagues to support the measure. Electric cars benefi t the environment, reduce dependence on foreign oil and, in this era of exorbitant fuel prices, save serious money.
It is encouraging that the county is moving toward converting a portion of its own fl eet of vehicles to electric, as this should produce meaningful savings to the taxpayer. In addition, the installation of charging stations at county facilities to support these vehicles will also benefit citizens who choose to drive electric, since these charging stations will be available for public use as well.
The installation of charging stations at locations such as the central library, SCCC [Schenectady County Community College], Glendale Home and the county offi ce building will also serve to help promote the development of an electric car infrastructure that will support our national effort to increase the number of these energy-efficient, environmentally friendly vehicles on our highways. I applaud Legislator Santabarbara for his forward thinking.

what a waste of money

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Just what the library needs? Leave to A-Jello to support another taxpayer sinkhole. One positive always an
open parking space by the charging station.
