Actually half way houses are instrumental in prevention of repeat offenders.  These are people that served their required time and were paroled to a half way house to start back into society...

I think that is a crock. Prove that these places are instrumental in any way in prevention of repeat offenders, please. Where is your supporting data? Do you have some study presented by the same bureaucracy that benefits and grows by the use of taxpayer funds wasted by these programs? When DCJS has a study it is like a study by Phillip Morris telling us cigarettes are good for you.

I am not interested in criminals and how well off they are, I am interested in them being punished. Stop sucking the taxpayers' blood or there will be no more tax payers left here.

Bring them to schenectady county where they can ease back into society by selling drugs, robbing homes/businesses and prostitution. Cause that's about the only jobs they're gonna find here!

What will the government do, offer tax incentives to hire the x-cons? Hell, they tried that for welfare recipients and look at how successful that turned out!

So the property will be costing the taxpayers by losing a tax base to a non profit, paying for their facility and supporters with our tax dollar, and they will be added to the welfare roll! And this will all be done in an area that has the highest tax burden in the country and no jobs!

BRILLIANT!

And what is the problem with the Sync rezoning?  You made it about the tax rolls then mentioned Sync....which pays taxes on the property.

ARE YOU CRAZY!!!  No, let me rephrase that -- YOU ARE CRAZY!!  Sync is a perfect example of how EVERYTHING this TB does is WRONG!!!!!  If you knew anything about the whole sync thing you wouldn't even be asking what was wrong with it.  Oh & btw, we are facing legal action because of sync (you better open up your purse, cause its gonna cost you $ too).

BT what about the sex offenders living at the Stardust?  Rotterdam has lots of people who struggle to live their lives in a law-biding way.  The question referring to whether or not B Gage was a cop is that it seems cops have less of an ability to be patient with those who have previously offended.

Cops have seen the worst that the world has to offer in the form of a humane being also the CO's who have to deal with those in prison every day. Unless you've had the chance to spend some time in a correctional facility you'll never understand what it's like and what those who are sent there are really like. Most are masters of the con job.

Wow this is amazing. Having a discussion about whether Rotterdam, NY "a nice place to live" should be a haven for convicted sex offenders. Can you all see the county dems infiltrating our town now that these buffoons are running the show. I should say taking their orders from them.

Oh I see how you play it boomer.....as long as there is one segment of our deviant society in town, why not let them all in, huh? I'm sure, if it is true, the sex offenders is what keeps stardust afloat .....with our tax dollars!

And now the purple dusk of twilight time steals upon the perverts in that inn, high up in the clouds the politicians climb, always reminding me they're not in jail...I wander Curry road and far away, leaving me wondering why they don't die, jailbirds at the Stardust, just yesterday, the heinous perverts of time gone by..

...Stardust Inn is in Colonie....Rotterdam doesn't control that spot but they DO control that stretch of Chrisler Ave.

Mark your calenders june 29th - REMS VOTE

Lets save the town some money!! and have the vote right here.  Hey Admin set up another poll!!

I could get a kid to whip up an online vote, log in with your tax code, one vote per house - cost: some red bull and maybe a new video game

all seriousness though - these resolutions are just to establish the district? then we would vote in nov. for a tax on that district?

155.10 Adopt a Resolution establishing Rotterdam Ambulance Service District No. 1 in the
Town of Rotterdam, New York pursuant to Article 12A of the Town Law State of New
York.

156.10 Pursuant to Section 94 of the Town Law State of New York, the Town Board moves to
submit for the approval of the electors the adoption of Rotterdam Ambulance Service
District No. 1 in the Town of Rotterdam, New York, as outlined in Resolution 155.10.

157.10 Schedule a referendum, as outlined in Resolutions 155.10 and 156.10, to be conducted
at a special election for approval by the qualified voters of the proposed district to be
held at the John F. Kirvin Government Center, 1100 Sunrise Boulevard, Rotterdam,
New York on June 29, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
