For the quality of life in this Town, the administration and residents need to be educated in the matter of the  OPIOID EPIDEMIC.

Other Towns are having meetings for the public for the awareness and education of this deadly problem
Young and older men and women are dying because of it ....and it seems that there is not enough being
done by professionals to control, curb and/or stop it.

People turn their heads to those "addicted" to drugs, this a mindset that these people don't count...
Judgement is shameful.  Addicts come from all walks of life...it happens in many cities, towns, and
villages.....it happens here in Rotterdam.

The Administration can help with not just talk ... holding informational meetings that include
professionals, town citizens and addicts who have beat the "disease"...and struggle everyday to remain
clean and sober.

Now this town can unite ....

Kudos to the RPD and EMT's who see this many times and must feel the same
way....

Sorry but i disagree with all you said.
There has been a war on drugs since the 70's.....and the war has obviously been lost!!
'here is your brain...here is your brain on drugs'!!
There is nothing new to be said nor is there anymore education regarding drugs.
Millions and millions of dollars have been thrown at the problem through schools, churches, tv, governments, non profits, mental health, books...blah blah blah!
It's pretty simple here.....folks know they will be incarcerated if they get caught using or selling drugs...and yet they still use and sell.
Sadly...it's called supply and demand.
the dealers are NOT forcing anyone to take drugs...no gun to someone's head.
the dealers are being 'seeked out'!
I've seen this up close and personal.

But while you're at it...how 'bout doing something about the legal opioids that big pharma is doling out?
there are more folks addicted with legal drugs than illegal.
Only difference...the illegal ones are not being 'taxed'.

As far as quality of life in this town?
That is a joke right?
Apartments everywhere which is bringing in transients.
they have no stake in this town at all!!!
Again..........rotten-dam does what is called...'shoot from the hip planning'....pathetic!
..........just sayin'

you never have a positive word about anything.....you think you know it all and you don't...

The drug problem is created by pharma, doctors, psychiatrists and dealers.....and what needs to be
addressed is why the addicts (mainly young adults) are choosing to use...to east the pain of what?......
mental health is this country is at the bottom of anyone's list.   always has been....always will be....the
lessons about drugs has to come from the home first...genetics plays a part ....education regarding this
aspect has to be  addressed.  all this is part of the problem.  first hand?.....what do you know.....I am an
advocate against drugs...Addicts are human beings that need not be cast aside like garbage...
My post regarding this problem is to praise a community for taking a stand and allowing people knowledge
as the death rate is not going down...it's going up...seems that this Town could do more for this problem....young adults have been dying in this town and I would think it would be a wake up call....the people in this
Town has always been passive and just sit back and let it happen....and I have lived here a long while.
My post about OPIOID was not to see a negative response...but to promote awareness as it should be and
not take the stance that "it won't happen to me, my family or friends....
so, Bumble....try to "buzz" something positive once in awhile....you know a lot about politics but you don't
know me...everyone is different .    have a nice day

How about the "Town" allow families to write-off drug treatment expenses against their property tax bill?  Giving families more resources to address these family health issues.

The people that are taking - Oxy this or  that or Heroin and  the other stuff - are making it harder on those people with real pain to get medication.

Thank God for Fentanyl ( the stuff that killed Prince ) because if Im dying in pain I dont want to run out of those patches.
Wikipedia says that   doctors are less likely to prescribe opiates to black patients because of past drug abuse stereotypes. - is that rascist ?

the hidden gem in the Tom Petty song ' dont back down ' is the line " there aint no easy way out ".

peace-

If they're less likely to prescribe because of a stereotype, then it's racist.  If they're less likely to prescribe because of a statistical fact, then it's actuarial science.
