Tri-City BMX president faces child porn charges Released on $40,000 bond Daily Gazette Staff Report | April 4, 2017 0
Jon B. Tanzman, 43, of Scotia, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon and released on $40,000 bond, police said. He faces charges of possessing and promoting child pornography, felonies.
Police searched Tanzman's residence Tuesday morning and took electronic evidence from within, police said.
Police didn't detail the charges or the investigation further, but court paperwork references a still image of child pornography that he is accused of promoting in October through a Yahoo account.
An attorney listed for Tanzman couldn't be reached later Tuesday.
Tanzman is listed as both president and director of Tri-City BMX, state police said. The facility is used by both children and adults for BMX races.
Tanzman has been involved there for about 10 years, according to a Gazette story from 2015.
State police were assisted by Scotia Police and Homeland Security.
