There is no Animals Control Officer (ACO)...no one to pick up dead animals, lost or found abandoned animals, abused/neglected animals, a citizen bitten by an animal , and The Town of Rotterdam Administration doesn't seem to have back up plan proposed , anytime soon.
This problem may be over (A) compensation requested for extra duties performed by the ACO (B) requests for maintenance and/or repairs for unsafe equipment to perform what is necessary. ...The Town Administration is handing out all kinds of monies for consultants, a coordinator and to whoever and whatever the Administration deems a priority....all this ongoing since October 2015 by past Administration and now present 2016 Administration..
The ACO is available to perform his additional duties 24/7, 365 days, and does it with diligence and experience. Any citizen that calls to complain or has a concern regarding any animal is addressed within minutes of the call and even in emergencies in the middle of the night. And he does this during on or off hours of his regular position with the Town. A cake job?,,,by no means...it can be dangerous and the ACO has handled all situations with his experience and understanding of all animals' rights and the safety of Rotterdam's citizens.
This presents a problem of safety and health hazards in this Town. And also keeps a check on animals that are not licensed. The NYS legislature has taken steps to protect the safety of our citizens and also to protect Animals' Rights. Namely Jim Tedesco is responsible for most of these laws and Kudos to him for doing so... Recently, the City of Schenectady recognized 85 police officers and ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICE for service above and beyond....by doing this they recognize the importance of an ACO and respect the position.
Evidently, our Rotterdam Town Administration chooses to turn their heads and ignore the safety of our citizens and do not understand that all animals have rights. How sad this is.
To keep our Town safe and "A NICE PLACE TO LIVE" it it asked that all citizens support the fact that we do need an Animal Control Officer to be treated with fairness and respect from the Rotterdam Administration.
If you read the post...you would know NO ONE,,,,,....so when you call if you have a problem it won't be taken care of.....and please spread the word....
if you read the news...so many dogs are wandering around...lost, abandoned.....
was doing his job then...the new administration had just begun.
There was a thread about the incident on the Rotterdam Watch facebook group that I had participated in. There was a dog running around my neighborhood barking late at night. RPD had 2 patrol cars and the animal control truck up here chasing him. I just looked it up on that facebook group to find the date.
I had a run in with an RPD animal control officer a few years back when my dog bit someone at my house. He was very helpful and prompt
you have always been on the other side and so negative...do you ever agree and take a side that may mean some compassion?
no that's not how the neighborhood looks....but you know...you get to stretching it just like the Administration does..
read the post and you are allowed your opinion...but don't go over the top...
can tell you aren't an animal lover....just a protester against anything that is truth.
You are the one going over the top. You are on here lobbying for a Animal Control Officer. You are the one making it sound as if the streets are overrun by stray animal and road kill. I don't see what you are describing. You are most likely a friend of family member of said Animal Control Officer or the RPD and want MORE money for the PD.
I hit a sour note with you.....ha ha...this has nothing to do with the police department or a family member....and if so on both counts, seems you don't have any reagrd for the citizens of this town nor the animals..
the bottom line is...this...if you were doing two jobs.....what would you want...to do it voluntarily??...or get paid.....
and yes...listen to the scanner...you have no idea what the police do on a daily basis....in this Town or any other Town..
have a nice nite...
you wouldn't give a nickel to a blind man for a pencil.

...So you want more money spent on an Animal Control Officer?
hey cic...forgot...this is not just about dogs....cats, birds, turkeys, deer, fox, snakes, geese, ....and on and on....so you may not see them...but they are here and more....
After hearing all the rumors I have checked the facts......would not report this unless I did this first....
Thanks for your support.......Rotterdam citizens have been too passive and silent....it's aabout dtime people Man/woman up and stand for what is fair and the truth.
animal control officer is a BIG WASTE OF TIME and TAXPAYER MONEY!!!
there are folks that we know who's neighbor owned 6 dogs on their property a few years back.
they were pitbulls that they used for fighting...right in their back yard.
some neighbors called animal control....he went to the house....the animal control guy was friends of the pitbull owners.
hence............NOTHING WAS DONE!!!
again.................BIG WASTE OF TIME AND TAXPAYER MONEY!!!
and yes it is a cake job.
imo
