well, after all the rumors over the years...it happened...Golub got the right $$$$ and now they can retire with a smile and they achieved their goal...
now, many positions will change and others will be replaced...and there may be some losing their jobs....or can retire with lucrative funds.
it was in the works when some lost their jobs a few months back...
Good luck to the Golubs and to those who will remain with who has bought the chain.....it's been a great ride.
they, the new owners, will outsource......trucking, maintenance and the distribution center.
the new owners will shrink their operating costs.
stock options, benefits and pensions will all change.

Cerberus is all about $$$$$. They were last major owners of Chrysler before melt down. If I'm not mistaken, they own Remington Arms currently. Historically they are a profit number 1 organization from articles I've read.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

Well, now that's it's fully public, yes. They will retain the chopper name ... market 32 is a separate sale, to Kroger's.

ALBANY, N.Y. —So long Price Chopper. Hello Market 32.
The Golub Corporation announced Tuesday a new name for the chain's stores across New York and New England.
According to the company, the name change represents the next step for the evolving company.
"We have evolved from the Public Service Market to Central Market to Price Chopper by responding to customers’ changing needs over time and Market 32 is the next natural progression for us," Neil Golub, Price Chopper’s executive chairman of the board, said.
Three Price Chopper stores will initially be converted into Market 32 stores, including the store in Pittsfield.
The company says the first "ground up" Market 32 will be built in Sutton beginning on Nov. 12.
More than half of the 135-store chain will be converted within five years at a cost of more than $300 million.
The company says Market 32 will "focus on delivering a distinctively different shopping experience" to customers.
The company said more details on the differences in the new store concept would be unveiled in the coming months as store conversions begin, but promised expanded food service options, an enhanced product mix and a re-emphasis on customer service.

As far as we were told, Market32 was for specific locations only - Altamont/Eastern/ locally were never planned as M32 locations.
In fact, our Latham store is unique unto itself as a M32 location - no other store will compare with this stores initial build out.
Every plan changes ... obviously Neil Golub's did too

Increasingly, taxpayers and businesses are beginning to realize that, as Professor Jack Van Der Slik has summarized for much of the academic community, state-sponsored gambling "produces no product, no new wealth, and so it makes no genuine contribution to economic development" (Van Der Slik 1990). Business-economic history supports this proposition. The recriminalization of gambling activities occurred 100 years ago after a brief gambling boom following the Civil War. Most state legislatures utilized constitutional provisions to recriminalize gambling, because lawmakers wanted to make it as difficult as possible for future generations to experiment with the classic "boom and bust" cycles and the concomitant socioeconomic negatives occasioned by legalized gambling activities. To paraphrase Georg Hegel's common quote, "those who forget the lessons of economic history are condemned to relive them" (Bartlett 196.
