New surveillance cameras will be installed in the town of Rotterdam to help crack down on crime. The town won’t say where they will be installed. “In other municipalities that use this equipment, their [crime] solve rate is much higher,” Town Supervisor Steve Tommasone said at last week’s meeting. The Town Board voted to transfer $78,000 from the town’s general fund to purchase and install the security equipment, but the decision wasn’t reached without debate.

Yes, I hope next year there is money in the budget for a few surveillance drones to be able to view the entire town of Rotterdam 24/7.  Safety-Safety-Safety!!!

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.....was talking with some 'law enforcement' folks....not from ROTTENdam.....they said that citizens MUST be told where cameras are going to be placed otherwise it is entrapment.

appears that ROTTENdam is an exception.....yes?

.....hmmmmm.....interesting.....

They can place them where ever needed, with the exception of bathrooms and changing rooms.

Haven't been able to find any regulations that support this...might be true, but would think something would be online to show it is a requirement in NYS.

Would body cameras be entrapment too...does officer need to tell you he is wearing one and recording everything before he chases you and takes you down?
If you are caught on private citizen's video committing a crime, is that entrapment?
How about being caught on homeowner's security camera...is that entrapment too?
just sayin'

If that were true, no case involving surveilance with cameras (still or video) would hold up in a court of law. Google wouldn't have mapped every address and GPS would be outlawed.

Outside your home is public space - you're vulnerable to video recordings 24x7.

More gossip from the coffee shop?

law enforcement folks.  lol.
