Sobriety Checkpoints Save Lives: Checkpoint Tennessee Reduces Alcohol Fatalities

Yah, but Sissy wants them to provide the number of lives saved...in other words, Sissy expects crystal ball numbers...
"We issued 49,000 dui tickets at a checkpoint.  If we had not, then 2,327 people would have lost their lives!"
That's Sissy logic!

the point is....common sense tells us that there is NO PROOF that the hundreds of thousands of tickets issued saved even ONE life!!

there is NO PROOF!

it isn't a FACT!!

however....the municipalities raked in the bucks.

and many innocent, law abiding folks don't seem to mind having their 'space' invaded by law enforcement.

it's the frog in the pot of water....turning the heat up oh so slowly.

common sense tells us that there is NO PROOF of your claim that these checkpoints are nothing more than a money government money grab
that is a FACT!!

however....checkpoints designed to identify potential driving dangers raked in the bucks for their municipalities by implementing preventive measures

innocent, law abiding folks don't feel this is an invasion of their 'space' by law enforcement, but rather a measure intended to protect them

there is no FACTUAL PROOF whatsoever, that these invasive traffic stops/tickets saved even ONE life.

there is FACTUAL PROOF that the municipalities are raking in tens of thousands of dollar and actually use it as a 'budget line' when doing their yearly budgets.

...giving up personal freedoms....'just in case'.

again....the frog in the pot of water....

Say a DWI Checkpoint only takes 10 drunks off the road on any given night...
that's 10 less drunks that you have to face driving home that night.

we can 'just in case' everything.....but there are still NO FACTS!

that's how your personal freedoms are s-l-o-w-l-y being taken away.

'just in case's' are money makers....and that is a FACT.

............as the frog heats up.

The fear of the DWI checkpoints does reduce the amount of people drinking and driving and I agree the logical conclusion is that is saves lives.. how many? who knows...

I'd look at speeding tickets, especially on the interstate as the bigger money grab..Speed by itself does not usually kill in large numbers..that's why 4 out of every 5 vehicle deaths occur off the interstate. where driver decision making plays a bigger role. As far as those one out of five deaths on the interstate? Inattention and drowsy drivers are a much bigger factor than speed.

There is no factual proof that it doesn't! Only COMMON SENSE!!!

Yes, but show me proof that the purpose of the checkpoints are setup for that purpose, as you have claimed and accused!
COMMON SENSE says the intent is to avoid, and the fines implemented by those stops, and maybe even
court/jail times,  that are intended to AVOID!!!

...giving up personal freedoms....'just in case'.
I stop and don't feel I've given up anything. What I've gained is a feeling that maybe 1 drunk driver will be taken off the road
and possibly have prevented an accident.

Why do municipalities count traffic fines and DUI court fee's as revenue in their annual budgets?  How does a municipality know how much revenue they will generate from fines and court fee's in 2016? You work in private business, you know how budgets are managed.  Who is responsible in a municipality for managing that budget line and hitting that court fees and fines revenue number?

i have been involved in the budget process in a municipality.

they use the previous years windfall, if there is an increase in population, if new businesses that will attract 'drivers', age of the population and comparing nearby municipality's windfall.

and of course input from law enforcement.

if nothing has changed drastically...they will use the previous years windfall in their budget.

AGAIN...........there is no factual proof that these stops have saved ONE life.....no proof at all.

everything is ..... 'just in case'.

so it appears that not allowing any muslims in the country and sending the rest back should be supported.....'just in case'.

oh that's right....no money to be made there!

You just repeat yourself, over and over...but yet you cannot provide a shred of proof that these stops are strictly a money grab as you say.
You cannot provide one shred of proof that these stops DON'T save lives, but refuse to acknowledge the common sense reality of it all.
I can't provide proof that it does or doesn't but I can use common sense to know that if these checkpoints ticket drunk drivers,
than I am comfortable that a potential accident could have occurred based on historical data (i.e. drunk driving accident stats). I don't give a rats a**
that municipalities make money from idiots that drive drunk or violate other laws, regardless of how you or Sissy or L4L feel about their legality.

See, I'm not contributing any funds because I'm not stupid....except for 6 years ago when I was ticketed for driving 42 in a 30 zone...my bad, and I accepted that it was my fault
and paid the fine...only 2nd ticket ever received.  So I say setup the checkpoints, ticket the dumba$$es because they deserve it! If that is your
interpretation of money grabbing, then so be it....but I'm positive potential accidents are avoided by these checkpoints.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, and stay away from the checkpoints!!!!

and there you have it.

your speeding was an obvious, visual FACT.

and 'my personal space' wasn't forced/invaded at all!!

............it wasn't a 'just in case'......it was a FACT!!

again.........all muslims need to be deported and banned from entering this county......'just in case'.

if you haven't already...watch the movie the MINORITY REPORT.......perhaps then you'll understand.

I wish I could suggest something for you to use to open your mind and actually use common sense!
I fear that's not likely...you've been admiring Sissy too long!
