If there is such a concern for public safetry why not just position the checkpoints closer to the bars (one source of DWI). Then the enforcers will be that much closer to the point of origin of possible offenders. Thereby not letting possible DWI offenders an extra distance to cause an infraction/accident/potential deaths on their way to a far distant checkpoint. |

HEY BUMBLE...HOW ABOUT AND ANSWER? Why are you avoiding it?
BUMBLE QUOTE: "my point is.....it's nothing more than a money government money grab!!!"
MY QUESTION (again): So you are also saying there is no intent for this to be a public safety activity? You don't feel that lives can be saved or accidents prevented by this activity...it is only a money grab for you??? Is that correct???? |

Reckless driving is a crime. All other traffic laws are a money grab. Many moving violations get plead down to parking on the highway and a fine. |

is it fair to say that these stops are for SAFETY PUROPSES ONLY..... and municipalities that benefit monetarily, is just a 'side benefit' that they can easily do without? |

you nor I legislate laws...so what we 'think' doesn't really matter....it just becomes a spitting match that leads to no where. so the question here is....is this law for SAFETY ONLY.....and would/could the municipalities forfeit the monetary benefits/fines? |

Sorry. I couldn't find in your article the number of "lives saved". Unless you know for a fact that drivers over the .08 BAC limit or the 49,000 ticketed were going to get into an accident. I'd put 100 to 1 odds that many of the arresting officers have driven legally drunk on more than one occasion.
Quoted Text
49,000 tickets to motorists for speeding, distracted driving, and traveling in the left lane. Additionally, 702 people were arrested for drunk driving, ZERO lives saved, millions of dollars in revenue generated
