ROTTERDAM — The Galesi Group will invest more than $5 million to build a new 100,000-square-foot warehouse at the Rotterdam Corporate Park, the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority announced Wednesday.
"This expansion is great news for the Rotterdam Corporate Park, which is already the largest business park in the Capital Region," Schenectady County Legislature Chairman Anthony Jasenski said in a statement.
Distribution Unlimited, a Galesi-owned company, will use the new warehouse.
"We are pleased to be making this new investment in Rotterdam," said David M. Buicko, chief operating officer of the Galesi Group.
The Metroplex Development Authority will provide a payment in lieu of taxes, or PILOT, agreement for the project under which the company will continue to pay 100 percent of taxes owed on vacant land where the project will be built plus 50 percent of the taxes on the new building, which will increase by 5 percent each year until the building is 100 percent on the tax rolls.

How convenient for Golub ... not only a backdoor to Metroplex money, but it's hidden behind the "Distribution Unlimited" name.

Very clever!

however.....what is it assessed at now and what will it be assessed at when the building is built?

and why did the METROPLEX/GILLEN have to get involved?

Was this approved by the ROTTENdam planning board?

Was this discussed at one of the town board meetings to get the resident's input?

Great news.

Look DV made an appearance again.  As a person who does NOT pay taxes, the only time he comes on here is to cheer for the homeowners to pay the taxes of the billionaire cronies of his beloved party leaders.

Have you found homes for your homeless families?  How about in one of those downtown Schenectady apartment complexes?????

So how's your mommies' 200%+ tax increase?

Excellent questions.   But everything a big secret, I'm sure.

again.....the billionaire is only doing what they are 'allowed' to do.

If ROTTENdamians don't approve....it's their battle ground to fight.....but they won't.

they will only bit@h and moan.

To clarify -- they will be paying the full taxes on the value of the property now PLUS 50% of the taxes on the value of the improved property (new building) .. and each year +5% (50%+5 ..etc)  until it reaches 100%. So any reasonable person would see that the county, town and school district will not actually be losing tax revenue but gaining tax revenue by this agreement.

Metroplex got involved because Metroplex plays the role that the IDA once performed.  Metroplex is just doing its job to grow the economy of Schenectady County -- and they do a great job at that.

The Planning Commission role would be to approve site plans for new buildings.  It does not play any role in arranging financing or pilots or granting any other incentives.

Doesn't look like the Town Board has any role in this either because no change of zoning is involved and the town has already authorized Metroplex to perform the role that the IDA once did -- pilots and incentive and helping with financing of major projects.

DV will NOT answer that question, that is 10,000% GUARANTEED.   But he will cheer for Galesi getting the money because the money is coming from the financially struggling taxpayers, and DV is NOT a taxpayer.
