Actually, the worst US President in modern times was the President who swore to get Ben Laden, then
said: "I'm Truly Not That Concerned About Osama Bin Laden."

I don't know...The president that dropped 2 nuclear weapons on civilian population has to rank at the top of most evil human being of modern times.

No, and THAT'S MY POINT!!! A war was ended. Had the war gone on, it is impossible to determine how much longer it
would have continued and how many more lives would have been lost. It was truly a sad day in history, but the consequences of not happening will be something
that will remain an unknown for centuries to come. The potential consequences are UNKNOWN!

Ahhh...Sissy is all knowing and well versed in nothing...missing the point once again.  Oh, and Sissy, we were at war, or did you miss that?
You're so smart, we should let you run the Nation's military and DOD.

These estimates are for AMERICAN casualties, we ca assume that Japanese military and civilian
casualties would be very much higher than these.

Operation Downfall was the codename for the Allied plan for the invasion of Japan near the end
of World War II. The proposed operation was abandoned when Japan surrendered following the
atomic bombings.
The estimates of total dead from an invasion of mainland Japan vary, as do their assumptions.
As there are so many variables, these estimates are projected with from various points of view
on the Japanese invasion.
In April 1945, the Joint Chiefs of Staff formally adopted a planning paper giving a range of possible
casualties based on experience in both Europe and the Pacific. Given a troop list of 766,700 men and
a 90-day campaign, the US Sixth Army could be expected to suffer between 514,072 casualties
(including 134,556 dead and missing) under the "Pacific Experience" (1.95 dead and missing and
7.45 total casualties/1,000 men/day) and 149,046 casualties (including 28,981 dead and missing)
under the "European Experience" (0.42 dead and missing and 2.16 total casualties/1,000 men/day).
This assessment included neither casualties suffered after the 90-day mark (US planners envisioned
switching to the tactical defensive by D+120[79]), nor personnel losses at sea from Japanese air
attacks.
In a letter sent to General Curtis LeMay from General Lauris Norstad, when LeMay assumed command
of the B-29 force on Guam, Norstad told LeMay that if an invasion took place, it would cost the US
"half a million" dead.
Outside the government, well-informed civilians were also making guesses. Kyle Palmer, war
correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, said half a million to a million Americans would die by
the end of the war.
Herbert Hoover, in memorandums submitted to Truman and Stimson, also estimated 500,000
to 1,000,000 fatalities,
and those were believed to be conservative estimates.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Ok...So do you support targeting civilians with nuclear weapons as a legitimate war tactic as long as the government can show the "estimated" number of lives it "may" save is greater than the number of civilians you are targeting?

Are you saying targeting civilians with nuclear weapons during war is within the rules of war?  If another nation nukes two US cities because they believe it will bring an end to the "war on terror", you would defend that as a legitimate target?

No Sissy can't help himself. He just needs to add more straw man what-ifs because if you notice,
he just keeps repeating himself...different post, different day, but same old repetitious BS. He can't even
answer or justify his own questions...just more spin and stupidity.

I made no statement defending" anything. You are putting words in my mouth AGAIN!
I stated we DO NOT AND NEVER WILL KNOW if the bombing resulted in XXXXXXXXX lives saved
or what the impact would have been had there been no bombing. That is not defending the bombing, it's
simply discussion talking points...something you are not good at.
