To clarify, "Sunday" means August 2. 2015.

Another shooting on Schenectady Street; victim stable

A man was shot on Schenectady Street early this morning — the same street where another man was shot and killed on Monday and an anti-violence rally was held on Friday.

Around 1 a.m. on Sunday a 27-year-old male was shot by 532 Schenectady St. in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood and taken to Albany Medical Center, according to police.

Police say the victim, who has not been identified, was shot in the chest multiple times. He is stable. No arrests have been made.

18-year-old Kusaan Tolliver was shot and killed in the same location on Monday. Last Thursday, another person was shot there and survived. There have been no arrests made in either incident.

The shooting Sunday morning comes after a stop-the-violence rally on Schenectady Street on Friday with more than 50 people including local residents, families of victims, community leaders and politicians.

Check back for more on this developing story.

Is there a renaissance in the city?   The shooters are having a huge renaissance.

What was that comment?  "Metroplex is not a gamble, it is a solid investment, is has paid a tremendous positive dividend"    Yes, a positive dividend to the rich political cronies of the mayor and his team.  And a dividend to the criminals.

It's definitely long overdue to throw out the mayor and HIS team.

so just that we can all understand....are you saying that if a rep replaces a dem.....they will be able to change a violent culture into a non violent culture?

i mean are these folks becoming violent and shooting other folks because the METROPLEX/GILLEN is giving taxbreaks to their friends and family club?

And do you mean that these folks are violent and shooting other folks cause their taxes are too high and that a rep canresolve this issue??

just askin

Shootings and violence can't be treated by adding more guns and violence by targeted police actions.

That's where the gangsters learned gangsterism.

I hear every day people demanding more cops.

People don't recognize that they are living in a war zone.(drug war)

We tried zero tolerance, targeted enforcement and life sentences.

Anyone who wants less death and violence shouldn't be bitching for escalation.

It would simply result in more aggressive and bolder violent criminals.

how is Baltimore doing with less police presence?
Look...I'm not a cop lover by any stretch....however....I just believe that we live in a very violent culture.
short of the violent folks changing 'their' ways...I don't see how more or less police presence is going to make any difference.
and I also don't believe that voting a political party out of office is going to change the violent culture we live it.
imo

The peoples tax money is being spent WASTEFULLY UNNCESSARY things downtown instead of spending the taxpayers' money on the neighborhoods and better policing and increasing necessary city services. Because good people won't buy homes in the city, slumlords buy, rent to anyone, and many of these tenants obviously are dealers.

I am confident that ANY political party would do better than the current dems.

wasteful spending and high taxation is one problem.
cronyism is another problem, which by the way will exist no matter what political party is in office.
as far as slum lords.....IF taxes are ever lowered....it will just be a win win for them.

violent behavior is not due to high taxation, the democratic party or the rep party or METROPLEX/GILLEN for that matter.
first you must know that there is no difference between the parties anymore....right?
it's the culture we live in.
from movies to tv to music to video games to government to abortion to wars...........ALL VIOLENT!!
and i'm sure you know that illegal drug sales are very profitable in Schenectady cause there is a HUGE DEMAND!!
not because of a political party or high taxation.
you are mixing apples and oranges here.
and don't constantly look to the government to solve societies problems.
that rests solely on the 'individual'.

Tax the working people out of their homes, open the welfare faucet at full blast, use tax dollars for one area exclusively and let the rest go to hell, ignore a corrupt and ineffective police department, which led among other problems, to not having enough officers eligible to actually work, have a chief of police actively bringing cocaine into the city, encourage cronyism and the growth of Poverty Inc. ripoffs under the cover of "helping"... government created Schenectady's problems. I saw with my own eyes the effect that last massive increase on the homeowners (nearly 25% at one shot) had on this city, it brought about a death spiral. Seeing is believing. Yes, a change in leadership can begin to address these issues. I don't care about Republicans versus Democrats, but Alliance party candidates sure as heck wouldn't be holding bratty party 'caucuses' where they leave ONE duly elected official out of the loop. If particular individuals can do damage, whether intentional or through ignorance, individuals of good will and character can get together and find ways to restore this city to health.

Political leadership will do nothing except continue to perpetuate the problems caused by those that can afford to buy the political system for their benefit.  Politics need to perpetuate these problems so people continue to clamor for them to offer solutions.  Cops need crime to justify their pay, social workers need the poor to justify their jobs.  Social decay is good for bureaucrats and politicians.

If you take metroplex money that comes from sales tax, and direct it to neighborhoods and city "services", politicians will just follow that money and pander to those organizations getting the money.  You won't necessarily get better policing and services, you will get better compensated Union cops and city workers that take the money to the suburbs.  And these Unions will use that money to fund the politicians that write the contracts.

actually....it was the exit of generous electric that started the downward spiral.....not government.
folks without jobs left....(smart on their part)
the population got old and are dying.
illegal gambling/running numbers was replaced with drug dealers.
BUT....you aren't going to take violence and corruption out of society that exists today.
