The two people who were caring for a Washington County toddler when she died earlier this year are now facing murder and manslaughter charges.
Kayleigh Cassell was 13 months old when she died after ingesting heroin and cocaine.
NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Post Star report that the child's mother, Rachel Ball, and Ball's boyfriend, Joshua Bennet, were officially charged with her death Thursday.
The charges against both include second-degree murder as well as first and second-degree manslaughter. Bennett also faces felony drug charges.
The murder charge alleges the two had "depraved indifference to human life" while the manslaughter count accuses them of recklessness.
