"Glenville
A roughly $20 million project to transform lower Freemans Bridge Road into a destination is set to kick into high gear, according to the supervisor.
The ambitious development and beautification project for the area from lower Freemans Bridge Road to Maple Avenue was rolled out Thursday during the town's annual business expo.
"This is a multipronged approach to redeveloping Freemans Bridge Road," Glenville Supervisor Chris Koetzle said Friday. "We want to make it a gateway destination and I'm working with business owners to create that vision." .....

"The owner of Elmo's Auto Body at that corner said he supports the project but is "extremely nervous" about the potential impact on his business because the town needs to acquire some of his property for the work.
"If we lose property and parking, we already don't have enough," said Don Reckner. "It'll be a huge improvement for lower Glenville, but we just want to make sure everything is going to work out well for us."

It sure will be if they use the same company that Schenectady always uses Gelesi. They tear up roads and leave them all tore up when they are doing construction hugh holes etc.. I have never seen construction work as poorly done as what happened on Erie Blvd it was a mine zone of craters the whole time.
I just moved into Glenville off of Sunnyside I could no longer take the crude and violence in Schenectady have a sweet aprt now with lots of trees and birds and no gunshots, swearin and domestic violence in front of where I live. No violent loud abusive music. I love it.
I hope the development will be done by some other company than what is is used in Schenectady all the time. The construction and development might not be as horrible as when work is done in the city of Schenectady. |

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!! You are one of the smart ones!!!
NO, I failed Schenectady, I feel sad. I love where I live now and it too has a rich history but nothing beats what was created in Schenectady Schenectady NY is the home of the most impacting sciences across the world! No other place on this earth has left such an impact. From Electricity to Communications, transportation and to the formation of this country and so much more. I am saddened I will no longer be able to vote for city council seats since I am not a resident. I know who I would have voted for and this election coming up is going to be the change. I want the corruption to stop and am waiting for the day the machine is taken down and with the right leadership it can be done I just don't have time on my side to wait it out. I want some pleasure in life while I can still have it so I am being selfish. |

If Cel is a renter, then it's easy to move, don't renew the lease. Apparently you are so filthy rich that losing tens of thousands of dollars is to you is nothing more serious than a typical Schenectady family dropping (and losing) a penny out of their wallet. |

Your complaint is hollow since: a) Galesi was NOT involved in the Erie Blvd Reconstruction Project. The design and construction work was done by CHA Design/Constructions Solutions. b) the actual construction was done in stages - yes - parts of the road were taken down and rebuilt - but the traffic was detoured into other lanes. I drove the road throughout the period and never saw/experienced a "mine zone of craters." c) the design and the finished product received an award for Project of the Year in 2014 from the American Public Works Association. IMHO -- Erie Boulevard (the part that has been rebuilt) looks terrific. The rest will be rebuilt in due time. |

I am proof..(and fyi on the low end of the wage scale)......along with 10's of thousands in this country that walked away from a devaluating property and are better for it!! Don't be a bit@hing victim or brainwashed by created societal norms! |

Thank you for pointing this out I stand corrected. Either way you must never have traveled the intersection of Erie Blvd North over State Street during all this construction nor when they had all all the manholes sticking up with nothing around the edges of them. It took weeks before someone finally realized that these needed to be surrounded with some asphalt to stop damaging car tires and suspensions until the top coating of asphalt is put down. I do agree at night looking from State to GE is really nice looking. Same with coming into downtown at night. Looks like Broadway to those visiting but little do they know the loss of money because so many of those businesses pay no taxes they just collect the profits. I hope when they rebuild the rest of Erie they pay a little more attention to smoothing things out better while doing the constructio, it can be done. |

As I consider myself to be intellectually honest...
I must state that the revitalization of Erie looks great. It did come out pretty darn well, with no real main problems with traffic. The extra lights can be a pain, and while I don't travel it during rush hour - when I have been on Erie, it's been pretty smooth.
I still have doubts whether it was a good investment - as it was very expensive and neither NYS, the federal government, or the city, could really afford it.
But I think it came out well. |

I traveled (and still travel) Erie Blvd EVERYDAY. There were some headaches and slow downs during construction. The manhole issue comes up every time someone (not just Schenectady) reconstructs and repaves a street. Don't forget that they were literally replacing all of the old infrastructure UNDER the street and not just repaving the top itself. Now -- if you really want to see a street that was poorly built --- take a look at Steeple Way in Rotterdam. It is way too narrow and the manholes there are several inches higher than the normal level of the pavement. The contractor's solution --- create a "volcano"-like cone of pavement around the improperly measured and placed manholes. These were NEW .. put in that way. |

OMG!!! How long has that road (Steeple Way) been there? I didn't know it was there. |
