Well, you can both believe it was a fairy tale, but I know better because my points are made based
on family discussions directly with those involved. I don't dispute the Albany/Saratoga thing, which occurred
AFTER they felt there was no suitable Schdy location.

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!

Oh, and Sissy wnts to put words in my mouth again becase he doesn't understand written words.
I never said
"But like you said joey, subsidies and tax break have little affect on a business's profits."
as you imply!

No location that wouldn't crush them on taxes....they then would be in the position of the other businesses and residents... paying the share of taxes that 'plex businesses should be paying.

After being showered with a sufficient amount of tax money and tax breaks, they were able to find a location in Schenectady.  Phew!!!  Close call for Mallozzi, because the ink was almost dry on the locations he selected outside the county.  Thank you Metroplex for helping mallozzi find a suitable space for his business.

and let us not forget how Broadway's streetscape was totally changed just to accommodate Villa!!!
who paid for THAT?
Has villa met it's mandated # of employees?
are most family member's?

and let us not forget that our tax dollar went to keep Marcella's here too.
they were ready to pull out too....BUT......METROPLEX/GILLEN/TAXPAYER'S MONEY....to the rescue!!!
we ain't been in villa or Marcella's since.
not that that is hurting their business....just sayin.

If full taxation doesn't affect profits, why are they being granted exemptions?  Are politicians just giving the money away?  If Mallozzi made a deal to move Villa Italia downtown only if they were exempt and subsidized, then they are being greedy and just taking the exemption to pad their profits and make everybody else pay for the supporting infrastructure that they benefit from.

It's funny how the "fair share" democrats turn a blind eye to their wealthy donors when they pay "no share".

Mallozzi would be first in line to decry outrage when Obama said "you didn't build your business by yourself."

Yes, in this instance, mallozzi literally "didn't build that".

It does not matter how much paving was done on Union Street, that was NOT a giveaway to the City Squire. The city GIVES AWAY money to other businesses. How much the other businesses "put up" (whatever the heck that is supposed to mean) does not alter the fact that the city GIVES MONEY to some businesses, which OTHER BUSINESSES THEN HAVE TO MAKE UP FOR. These people took the huge gamble that running a business is, lost, and the village idiot is at it again  trying hard to sound smart, and arguing that they got money because paving was done on Union Street, and that their competitors don't get giveaways. Then he brings in his sock puppets to call the other posters names. DVOR, only an animal would take pleasure in what happened to these people, or try to use their sad situation to make himself sound smarter than other people. DVOR and Alva are one and the same, and those aren't the only names he uses.
What is your point, DVOR, businesses are in competition, when the government takes money from one and gives it to another, guess which business goes under?

Ugh, so we're back to this again eh. Could one of my fellow posters here, who I've given my real name to please pm xlax and let her know that despite all of her suspicions I am in fact not who she thinks I am. That although I may at times be crass, profane or silly, depending on my mood, I am a human being who can be lucid and thoughtful as well.

For someone who decries the name calling etc. she seems to be one of the leaders in that department here along with the mc group who apparently she's canonized.  She is the one who tells people to "shut up" when they disagree with her. And she is the one with the suspicious mind.

I can only take the debates on this site half seriously, when everyone, myself included, sit behind our computer screens using phony names. Maybe we should abandon that device and resubmit our memberships to this site using our real names. Maybe that should now be a requirement for registration here. At least then this silly "sock puppet" issue will be put to bed. As far as I know xlax is just another one of  the mc group's fake users.

It's posters like the mc group, xlax and some others who have brought the debates on this site down to a childish level. It's gone on for far too long. I know former posters here who have left, and peeked in over a year later only to shake their virtual heads saying "nothings changed there has it?"

The poster DVOR told his real identity to was himself. How clever. There is a big difference between people posting under screen names, and the use of"sock puppets", which is the same poster posting under different names. That is generally frowned upon. As far as people coming back and nothing changes, that is because DVOR keeps on with new sock puppets as people catch on to his older ones.
I notice that Patches is once again being called some nasty names, and it isn't by me. It's too bad, as I've said before, one person is being allowed to drag down the reputation of the entire site.

lets not forget 'character assassination' in videos by mc1!!!

putting all of this nonsense aside.....
heard that the casino will be having a 'work shop' aka job fair in July.
don't know the exact date or the location...but I guess it will be downtown.
so the taxpayer's dollar marches on!

Not surprising if the job fair is directed toward downtown.   Will allow job seekers to stop in to the local eating establishments and give them a $ bump up.   Remember Tues. in the park?    Moved to downtown to promote commerce into downtown.   More successful DT is more officials can trumpet it's(?)success(?).   And does'nt the Stockade a thon race now run through DT or end there?

Speaking of Tuesday in the Park, I notice that the pavilion in Central Park has had repairs and is now open to paying customers. Not exactly the same as Tuesday in the Park, but it's something.
I notice other municipalities have pavilions that may be reserved for a fee, but the difference is that if you are up in Blatnick Park and it starts to sprinkle, you are free to go stand out of the rain, as long as no one is having a party. In Central Park, the poor folks who walk over from the other side of the park have nowhere to seek temporary shelter, except perhaps the stage or that new tiny roof next to the kiddie playground.
Why is there a city vehicle parked outside the administration building every day? Is it just so someone can drive over and lock up the bathrooms at sundown? It doesn't seem worth it to keep the power on in there.
I suppose we are lucky that we aren't seeing premium swings, or maybe a turnstile and coin slot at the entrance to Tiny Tot Land.
BTW, the city agreed to give an empty lot on State Street to a children's charity, for a garden, and now they are reneging and claiming it was a misunderstanding. The city didn't own the lot when the woman who runs the charity was complaining about the empty building next to her place, for years. Now that the burned-out building (arson) has finally been demolished, it is suddenly valuable real estate the city can't let go of. As a taxpayer, I'm in favor of giving this one stinking patch of ground to be used by little poor kids.

The news of a possible Katie O'Byrne's relocation to that site has been received with enthusiasm by potential customers up this way.
However, there was one caveat mentioned: "they need one good beer". Whatever that means.

I don't see how this works out for them to be honest.

While I think it is good news - downtown has far more visibility for people working there...  GE, the lottery, etc...

I wish them the best though and glad that something is going into the CS building.
