Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Sure, there are recalls of products in other stores.

But anything worse than the cheapest of the cheap in these dollar stores.  So, let's see, is this going to be two dollar stores within a block of each other?

What will be the return?

I can see it now.  The city, or more likely the county, requiring all children to be tested for toxins if their parents shopped at these stores.  And health issues, learning (school) issues, behavioral issues, the cost will be upon the taxpayers.

When dealing with nayboobs it is a no-win situation.  If nothing had been done with that site, they would complain.  If something is proposed to be built there -- doesn't matter what -- they would complain.  As I have said before the he/she nayboob's posts are just pathetic cries for attention.  Nothing more or nothing less.

Home Depot near Lowes
Outback Steak near Longhorn Steak
etc., etc.
That's what they do...maximizes their traffic.

Don't think Neiman Marcus is coming anytime soon. I thought this was about the new vap store on Erie Boulevard right near the proposed toxic casino.
In Schenectady an envelope opening is reporting excitedly in the Gazetto and Metrograft faxes. Got potholes?

Um, M/C, we already have a lead program which taxpayers pay for.
I know you were joking, but it burns me that we have all these toxic products shipped in from overseas, and once they get here, yes, any costs tend to fall on the taxpayers more than those who profited from bringing the products here. "It would cost too much" is the usual excuse for not doing anything about it, but I can't help but notice that there is a special police unit devoted solely to keeping counterfeit high-end merchandise out. They claim they are fighting terrorism, if you can believe that.
Off topic, I know.
