Whatever the heck it is that Bernie Sanders is talking about it just isn’t socialism.

What Sanders is arguing for is that more of the economy which is currently market oriented should become not market oriented. Medicare for all would take markets entirely out of the financing of health care. No, I don’t think that would be a good idea but that’s another matter. If you think that government should nationalise, take over, every health care facility in the US, as the National Health Service did in the UK in 1948, then that’s socialism. That’s government ownership of the means of production of health care. If you think that instead the government should just pay all those still private businesses to do it then that’s not socialism: that’s social democracy.


We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.
