Roger Hull made his long awaited announcement for Mayor along with a full City Council slate. Vince Riggi, Ann Rigley, Tom Verret, Mike Cuevas Alliance/REP candidates for City Council. Great to see that Vince has decided to run for a second term. Bravo to Roger for running to clean out City Hall and return some semblance of checks and balances.
40 years is enough.

I think Hull is the lesser of the two evils.  Remember, he also reduced the tax base, i.e., removing all those houses from the tax rolls.  But the ex BS mayor and the current thief have done far worse, they reduced the tax base even more both by exempting their cronies' properties and by running the city in such a way that caused huge loss in property values which is resulted in a huge reduction in the city's tax base.

Was looking for something online, came across some TU articles back around 2011 where McCarthy was saying we need to put value back into our real estate. We've sure gone the other way on that one.

Can you post the TU article?  If so, that would be great, post it, and by golly, get the word out because then we have the EVIDENCE that McTHIEF has FAILED BIG TIME, the real estate values under McCarthy have plummeted.  Like I have said, based on the official records of the whole State of New York, Schenectady has the second highest equalization rate in the whole state, which really then means that Schenectady's property values have plummeted the second most.  Did I phrase that right?  That is, only one municipality in the whole state has seen property values fall more than Schenectady

Where are McCarthy's cheerleaders?   "The mayor and his team are doing a wonderful job."     Yeah, who is silent now?

How do you put value back into real estate?  There needs to be a demand for real estate to create value.  The only people demanding schenectady real estate are the people demanding PILOT's and Metroplex grants and loans to buy the real estate.

The only way to put value back that I can think of, that a mayor has any influence on, would be to stop stealing the value through onerous taxation. McCarthy thinks he can raise value by duping enough people into paying too much for those houses he's been hawking for years. He still doesn't understand that it doesn't work that way. Why not? Why can't he get that simple fact through his head? Stubborn fool.

Exactly...if lower taxes and tax exemptions create a demand for the few high dollar campaign contributors, then it would work if you lower taxes citywide.  Unfortunately McMarthy is a member of the bureaucrat class, and is concerned about maintaining enough tax revenue for his pension and salary and those of his fellow bureaucrats in the city.  So he puts on this charade as if he's addressing the root cause of the problem, but he's educated enough to know its a political charade to deceive the ignorant masses.

And the majority are ignorant.
That was the plan.....the deck is well stacked.

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Schenectady-dips-into-its-rainy-day-fund-2203006.php

Here it is:

McCarthy, a Democrat running for mayor in November, said he believes the city's current effort to aggressively foreclose and resell properties along with pushing affordable mortgages for the middle class, will help lift up the tax base -- now one of the only ways government can lower residents' taxes, he said. McCarthy said he hopes to not use fund balance in 2013.

"We've got to go back and put value in our real estate," he said.

And what value has McTHIEF put into the city's real estate?  The EVIDENCE proves that each and every year under McC as mayor, the real estate values have fallen.  That is a FACT, that is a TRUTH that no cheerleader of McC can refute.

But McTHIEF does not bother to state the real way that the government can lower the taxes, that is by eliminating all those pilots for the rich downtown, and by forcing Galesi to pay himself for the demo of his DSS building!

Just on that? McTax is the worst Mayor in Schenectady history. Continuous lies about home values, jobs and food. Under his "leadership" Schenectady has become the
laughing stock of NYS. So bad that like the Catskills we have to get a casino. Nothing else. Highest foreclosure rate, teenage pregnancy rate {in the nation}, hundreds of
abandoned homes and businesses. highest unemployment in the Capital District AGAIN. The same tired BS from the DEM hacks which is as fresh as a week old Perreca's bread,

The silence from McC's cheerleader is deafening, it's sure easier to avoid discussing these FACTS than to admit one is wrong.

This is exactly how McTax won 4 years ago. There's a big difference is background, achievement and ability. Roger Hull ran 2 universities with budgets bigger than the City.
He was not on the pathetic City Council 24 years demanding HIGHER taxes than even DEM Mayors would permit. It might already be too late but bravo to Roger Hull for taking
another shot at this. 99% would say f Schenectady and move to Palm Beach. BTW, this time vote for more than just Vince Riggi for City Council. Vince is the greatest but he
needs help to stop some of the tax giveaways pretending to be industrial development. The City tax base needs to expand not contract with freebies all over town to the
usual suspects. Tax the casino site at market full value and cut the BS.
