Schenectady priest caught in lewd acts, now the pastor at St John's is going to honor the guys year's as a priest with a gala reception.  

Only in Schenectady.  Wait, this is the pastor who halted all fund raising for a school, then fled the country just before the announcement that the school would close!

Just sayin'


Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.  
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Bishop Howard Hubbard of the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese has agreed to relieve a Schenectady priest of his pastoral duties pending the resolution of public lewdness charges against him, diocesan officials said Wednesday.
The Rev. Michael D. Clemente, 62, pastor of Holy Cross Church in Schenectady, was the ninth man charged in a seven-month police investigation into homosexual activities at rest stops in Montgomery County along Route 5 in Tribes Hill and Yosts.

With the arrest of a Catholic priest on Tuesday, Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said they have concluded their investigation into sexual activities at two Route 5 parking areas.
The Rev. Michael D. Clemente, 62, pastor of Holy Cross Church in Schenectady, but who gave deputies an address of Sherman Street, Little Falls, was arrested on a charge of public lewdness. He was released on an appearance ticket to appear June 7 before town of Mohawk Justice Franklin Wendell.

REV. MICHAEL CLEMENTE, born in Gloversville, has served as associate pastor of Blessed Sacrament parish in Hague, St. Anthony's in Schenectady (where he was later administrator), Sacred Heart in Cairo, St. Mary's in Frankfort, Our Lady of Angels in Whitehall and St. Brigid's in Watervliet, and administrator of Nativity in Stuyvesant. He was pastor of St. Joseph's in Little Falls and director of the Diocese's Deaf Apostolate, studying sign language at Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C., and at the National Institute for the Deaf in Rochester. He then founded and spent 25 years as head of the Capital District Deaf Center. In 1978, he became pastor of Holy Cross parish in Schenectady, where he stayed for 25 years until his retirement.

Father Clemente will mark his jubilee with a Mass June 28, 11:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist parish in Schenectady, with a reception afterward.
