I seldom, almost never eat 'fast food'. It may be 'fast' but I'm not sure if it's actually 'food'. One exception... I tried a McDonald's strawberry shake a few weeks back. Nothing like the old strawberry shakes. This one actually tasted good!
Wendys FROSTY!!!!!

I can trump that by saying quite proudly I have not eaten or drank any of that crap in over 15 years. And to be honest, unless you actually watch your shake being made from start to finish, how can you be certain that one of the idiots preparing it didn't spit in it or stick a finger or other appendage in it. Had a friend who used to work at Carrol's back in the day who witnessed an employee spitting on burgers. Just sayin'.

that's ANYWHERE, even a place like Johnnys......paying other people to make your food is still taking your chances....

Uh yeah, I wasn't going to mention this because I didn't want to appear like a total social outcast, but I don't eat anywhere but here or at my sisters. I can't remember the last time I ate anywhere else. And I do realize that even the things I buy at the grocery store could have issues as well. But I figure that by cutting out restaurants, diners, cafes, food trucks, bodega's and any other food vendors that might be around, I'm at least giving myself half a chance of not eating somebody else's bodily fluids.

Were you always paranoid or did you have a bad experience? Serious question I'm not bashing you.

Yeah, I'm pretty anal about it these days. But to answer your question, no I wasn't. I used to eat at all food joints. As I got older though, I first remembered what my friend told me what went on at Carrol's many years ago, and my experiences working construction in supposedly clean environments, which weren't really very sterile at all(If you saw the vermin that inhabit grocery stores you'd be appalled), and friends who always ate out and always seemed to get food poisoning every time they did so, over the years have pretty much convinced me I'd do better health wise if I just avoided those places. I used to buy things from the grocery store bakeries. The first time I found a hair in one of my doughnuts I was pissed. The next time I found a hair in a store baked good I stopped buying the stuff altogether.
I also realized that I'm a better cook than most of the restaurant cooks, so why not do it myself. I've got the time. I bake my own bread once a week. Sourdough. I use the same sourdough starter for rolls, and pizza crust. (My sourdough pizza is to die for.). In the warm weather I grow as much produce as I possibly can. I freeze and dry what I can. I cut up a pineapple every 2 weeks dehydrate it and have a great snack.
I've found I don't miss "going out to eat" at all. In fact as a result I save a pretty penny as a result also. And I think I'm healthier to boot. Which is bad news for all you taxpayin' folk who have to foot the bill for my free "freeloadin' socialist/non-socialist" health care, 'cause at this rate I may outlive all of you.
So run on over to Mickey D's or Randy Loren's and have a bite to eat. Live long and prosper.
Does that answer your question?

There is no question that it is better to cook and eat at home. Preferably one eat whole food and avoids processed food. A while back, I remember that there were reports in the media that it was perfectly legal for canned or processed foods to have a mathematically, small but still gross to think about percentage of "foreign material" in it. If one watches a show like Unwrapped or How Is It Made, it is not too difficult to imagine the "foreign material" that could get into food which is processed in a huge, industrial plant. As for eating at fast food restaurants, it has always been a dicey proposition. So I rarely eat at a fast food restaurant when I am in the Capital District although a chocolate shake from McD's or a frosty from Wendy's is nice on occasion. It is when traveling outside the Capital District and am torn between trying some sketchy looking local place or a fast food chain that one assumes has some reasonable standards. In general, I choose to err on the side of eating local even when on the road. Not to stray too far off the subject but taking a chance on a local eatery in some place far from home can be a great experience. Such as the Cajun-Greek restaurant that my brother and I discovered in Louisiana (theone with the friendly waitress who danced with the customers to the Zydeco band music playing on the juke box) or the out of this world BBQ place (there motto is "we rub our butts") near the "Crooked Road" in the mountains of far western Virginia.

With it's penchant for supporting the food based industry wonder if PLEX will take a shot and enter into the Sonic location wars. Don't think Jumpin Jacks would be thrilled with a location near them. Yes, JJ has a dedicated fan food base, but they are limited to making it over a few (5) months and could not afford a cut to their bottom line.

Jumpin Jacks is so much better than any of the chain restaurants. They have a loyal clientele that seems to stand up against McD's, BK, Wendy's, etc. Although any other competitors into the mix would probably make life difficult. I wonder why Jumpin Jacks hasn't considered extending its season???

You are certainly not "freeloading." You put your life on the line and served our nation. For that every American should be eternally grateful.

GREASE BUGERS !!! UGH. No wonder you look like you do.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Based on that picture, it looks like Christine lost a few pounds. Although, she looks like she could lay off the 24 cut pizzas for a midnight snack.
BTW - Jumpin Jacks has much more than burgers on their menu. Personally, I prefer the grilled chicken breast sandwich.

Sorry about your bad experience. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Oh, and Jumping Jacks, another place I avoid like the plague. I do enjoy watching the obese slobs waiting in line for a "first of the spring" helping of grease though. I'm pretty sure I'll outlive most of those folks too.

We personally don't go to JJ for the 'great food'. I mean really! But like curry freeze....when they open....we all believe that is the official start of spring/summer. JJ is a great place to get something quick to eat....(icecream also) and walk by the water or watch the ski show....like a gathering place so to say. ALTHO.....we have a few friends who LOVES LOVES LOVES their burgers and fries!! So folks go there for different reasons.
