Many local jurisdictions also limit their liability, but not absolutely. Typically, they become liable for defects only after prior written notice of a defect, and after a specified time, at least 15 days in the city’s case, in which to make repairs.

I THINK THEY HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.....
but the following is from the Engineering department of the city http://www.cityofschenectady.com/engineering.htm

Quoted Text
Question: If there is a pothole in the road, who should I call?

Answer : There are two answers to this question. If it is a pothole, then you should call the Bureau of Service – Street Department at (51 382-5120. If it is an area where a ‘street cut’ had been made then you should call the Department of Engineering at (51 382-5082 so that we can inform the company who made the ‘street cut’ to repair.

For State Roads there is a small claims process, but
Quoted Text
Section 58 of the State Highway Law explicitly exempts the state from liability for damages arising from defects in its highways except between May 1 and Nov. 15.
Quoted Text
Courts have since ruled that the state is still liable for out-and-out misfeasance or negligence,

Quoted Text
The Department is authorized to pay claims for damages, up to a maximum of $5,000, that are caused by the negligence of a Department employee. For a typical pothole or debris claim, this means that there must be a clear demonstration that the Department, with notice of a dangerous condition, failed to correct the condition within a reasonable period of time in order for the Department to be found negligent.

claim forms are on website for NYS pothole damage....with instructions and mailing info...

the Erie Blvd corridor has been in violation of negligence thru the whole winter....regardless  ...there have been days when these

"sinkholes" could have been repaired......... ...they try to get out of it by inserting this statement

""failed to correct the condition within a reasonable period of time in order for the Department to be found negligent...."

Has been reported many times......let's see what happens when the claims come in....

damages to cars are beyond a few....

2014 saw many positive developments for Schenectady and 2015 will be even better.  I am looking forward to the completion of the new Amtrak train station, Mohawk Harbor and a few other projects that are "in the pipeline,"  That section of Erie Blvd will be repaved and look as beautiful as the other end. The RENAISSANCE will be spreading to all the neighborhoods and corners of the City-County of Schenectady.
The RENAISSANCE continues.

Such a positive development that you have signed a lease to move INTO the city??????   Or have you had a closing on buying a house so you actually become a taxpayer?

The city is so bad that you want NOTHING to do with living IN the city and now you won't even attend church IN the city.

relax mc1.....dv is one of the smart ones. There are many out there. they 'like' the way the city(downtown) is looking. they go to proctors and dinner after.....they frequent the watering holes.....get their hair done at paul mitchells........BUT.....they would never live in the city. We know many many folks who live in duanesburg, princetown, ROTTENdam, glenville that agree with dv but don't and won't live in the city. They can't wait for the Casino to open either!!!!!

I'm not disagreeing with the raping of the taxpayers.....but dv is clearly in the majority. They just don't post here.

Sorry....gotta put it this way.....but it's only the idiots that live in the city....that's a no brainer.

I'm lying?   You won't live in the city.  That's the truth, not a lie

But you claimed a few years ago that the county taxes are lower now than in the 1970's.  That makes YOU the BIG LIAR

You stated "Democrats actually lower taxes."   That is a LIE, that makes YOU the BIG LIAR.

You said the city is improving.   I say that's a lie, you don't have the guts to address how a falling tax base is indicative of a city that's improving.   You don't have the guts to state how falling home sales, falling home sale prices, falling property values, increasing taxes for fewer services is a city that is improving.  So that makes YOU the BIG LIAR.

You really need to finish your sentence -- the city is improving for the millionaires property owners downtown who are getting richer off the taxpayers and the city is improving for the dem political leaders who get kickbacks from the millionaires.  Yes, the city is improving for billionaire Galesis that's to YOUR BELOVED McCarthy STEALING from the homeowners to pay for that demolition.

Is it proper that the poor pay the taxes of the millionaires?   You CLAIM to be a Catholic but cheer for financially struggling, largely lower income homeowners to pay the taxes, new buildings, and demolitions of buildings owned by millionaires and billionaires who also fill the pockets of your socialists.

Why do you cheer for the poor to pay the taxes of the rich, why don't you have the guts to answer that?   BIG (in many ways) COWARD

The fact is that my family has lived in the Town of Rotterdam for over 100 years AND have supported businesses (even owned a business or two) and institutions (including 2 churches INSIDE the city limits) in the City of Schenectady.  We love the city and we love the town.
Furthermore, none of my personal information is relevant to the topic.  The cowardly chicken-sh*t liar knows it is irrelevant.  He/she knows that he/she is irrelevant, too.

having said that,,,,do you mean to say that you're a blue blood resident? or your family has the Rotterdam instincts passed

Again, what am I lying about?

You claim the county taxes are lower than in the 1970's.  The FACT that the statement is totally untrue PROVES that YOU are the LIAR.   What have you got to say about that?  Are you going to provide proof that your statement is correct?

You said that the "democrats actually lower taxes."   Have you any proof of that?????   Well???????    If you have no proof, then doesn't that make YOU the LIAR???????

YOU claim the city is improving.  Would you care to state for whom the city is improving?    Well??????    Would you care to state where the improvements the homeowners/taxpayers have experienced in exchange for all the money they have been FORCED to pay (under threat of having their houses seized from them)?

The COWARD will NEVER address these three FACTS, well, nothing other than a yawn, or more nonsense babble from a non-taxpayer (and a guy who prances around, making himself visible in various Catholic institutions, but he cheers for the poor paying the taxes of the rich.)   Such a BIG (in more ways than one) liar and hypocrite.
