Yeah, it does matter....It's YOU and other the haters who took him to task for including it... like he took the pic and added to the Gazette article...which he didn't.. If you are going criticize, go after his comments, not the article and pic which were a simple cut and paste from the Gazette.
I do have a towel handy if you want to wipe the egg off of your face though...
Uh, tbird, the egg is not on our faces...it's MC1 that misrepresented this as being the newly paved section by his opening statement
The new construction began on the other side of the railroad bridge and went down to I-890. The part with potholes shown in the picture was NOT included in the new construction. This thread is just another attempt by someone to throw out a falsehood/red herring to start another nonconstructive argument.
Well, the part that they are showing has been TERRIBLE for years. Taxpayers pay for services and get nothing but UNNECESSARY "FANCY" lightpoles.
So stating that the projects downtown have caused a massive reduction in the city's tax base is a non-constructive argument, right? The problems that come with a falling tax base (people losing money on their homes, homes not selling, reduction of essential services to taxpayers in their neighborhoods, increased taxes) is not worth being concerned about.
Typical that a NON-TAXPAYER criticizes the discussions of the mis-use of tax dollars and cheers for his buddies to continue their wild uncontrolled spending of the taxpayers' money.
Just telling is usual lies
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

posted right above the picture. Still got that towel? Looks like "others" needs it, not those of us that called it as being wrong and misleading!!!!
He included the pic because it was part of the article...period... Like I said, if you want to criticize based on his interpretation of the article, fine...but y'all chose the pic instead, thinking he added TO the article, which he didn't.
What's not in question is this... Erie Blvd, from the Railroad bridge to the beginning of Freeman's Bridge is a certifiable 4X4 off road course, so is Edison Ave leading to Erie from Weaver... the road is flat out embarrassing.
Even before this winter started , the roads that needed work in the city are endless... Helderberg Ave from the city line, Altamont Ave from the city line just to name two...But low and behold, the Proctors corridor, where the money and influence reside, is in tip top shape....If Mcarthy wants to redraw the city lines and call the Proctors corridor Schenectady, go ahead. Then, all the bullsh*t they say about the state of the entire city will be true. The part that WAS within the city lines can be renamed "sh%thole", because that's exactly what it is.
And Alva... GFY..

So did you or did you not misrepresent that this was the new section of Blvd? Did you or did you not emphasize that this was the new section and represent that tax payer dollars were wasted on new paving that has fallen apart. How about it...?
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

Tbird...defend the MC's all you want, but his posting focused on the new Blvd, and everything he "bolded" was the new blvd, and anyone would be right to interpret that the pic was exactly what MC's were referring to.... ie NEW BLVD BUILT WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS FALLING APART!!!! Seems like the others in this thread also took it that way...only you didn't.

I was posting to inform that the Gazette article and photo was highlighting the fact that Erie Blvd was in need of repair north of Union St, that area has not been repaved since early 2000. Mike commented on Erie Blvd was falling apart shortly after millions of dollars have been spent in the recent years, that section of highway is holding up well. So who really has egg on there face?
I do stand corrected on this. I (I'm Chris) read through the story quickly and mis-read something in there that I believed to infer that the new section was falling apart.
I admit I was wrong on that.
But still that does not excuse the fact that the city leaders are failing to spend the taxpayers' money on things that are needed. And that northern section of Erie has been absolutely terrible, costing drivers money, for years, but the city leaders are giving the taxpayers' money out to their millionaire political cronies.

Chris...class move and am sure that puts any misrepresentation issue to bed.

Thank you for that. And I agree the section from Union to Nott is screwed, that's why I won't go that way to the clinic anymore. My alternate route is much better
Oh, and tbird, that is if you really are who you represent yourself as and not another one of mc1's alter egos, right back at ya bub.

OK, mini-DVOR...

Actually I'm almost positive that part of the road was redone last spring, not a full redo but a partial resurface from the bridge to right past the old bargain outlet.

I think I read that somewhere, too. But it was done with the new process which apparently is not able to withstand our climates. Sounds like a really poor decision by whomever proposed and approved that process.

And not a total rebuild like the lower section either.

City Engineer Chris Wallin said Erie Boulevard would not be paved this year due to anticipated construction traffic from the Mohawk Harbor development, the start of construction of the Erie Boulevard and Nott Street roundabout in June and plans to replace a water line under Erie Boulevard next year.
“What we’re doing now is for maintenance,” Wallin said. “We’re not going to pave until that work is done, which will take a significant toll on the road.”
The 3 /4-mile portion of Erie Boulevard that was rebuilt, from Interstate 890 to Union Street, cost $14 million, and the city can’t afford to continue that method of rebuilding, Wallin said.
So; the picture appears to be just past the intersection of Erie and State St. The left corner looks like the building that the Grogge Shop is in which is well before Union Street. According to the article City Engineer Wallin claims that area was repaved. The traffic lights at the intersection are for the intersection where Burger King is at the intersection with Liberty Street. Article implies that area was repaved "up to Union Street".
