I simply don't understand the controversy regarding Duggar. He sinned, admitted it, and took action to become a better person. The Christian Conservatives seem to know the correct response, which is forgiveness. Kids have sex, it happens.
What kind of family were you raised in? Yes - kids have sex ... but apparently these incidents involving Duggar included his own sisters. In 99.9% of the country, molesting your siblings is a crime. Apparently, it is not a crime nor is it an issue in the 0.1& of the country where Libertarians live.
As for Huckabee's response to the whole situation, I think it raises HUGE RED FLAGS as to his fitness to become President of the United States of America.

Politico: “Catholic Republicans are developing a pope problem. Earlier this month, Francis recognized Palestinian statehood. This summer, he’s going to issue an encyclical condemning environmental degradation. And in September, just as the GOP primary race heats up, Francis will travel to Washington to address Congress on climate change.”
“Francis may be popular with the general public, but key Republican primary constituencies — hawks, climate-change skeptics and religious conservatives, including some Catholics, are wary of the pope’s progressivism.”

Probably not... It's just Congress that treats "make believe" as real life when they call actors to testify at hearings and call them "experts" because of a part they did on TV/movies

Rick Santorum, “who fell short in his 2012 presidential bid, launched another run for the White House on Wednesday with a promise to restore the economic power of middle-class American workers,” Reuters reports.
Washington Post: “The step forward by Santorum, 57, is the latest in a wave of entries by hard-right contenders who believe that after losing two straight presidential elections behind more moderate nominees, GOP voters will turn to a candidate unflinching in their ideology who can enthuse the party’s base.”
Politico: “Polls reflect his predicament: It’s not even clear he’ll make the cut for the first debates this year.”
Santorum who promised to restore the economic power of middle-class American workers... then promoted his "Flat Tax Scheme" that increases taxes for the middle class.

A new Quinnipiac poll highlights how there is no frontrunner in the GOP presidential race. Five candidates — Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio and Scott Walker — all share the lead with 10% support each.
Said pollster Tim Malloy: “Safe to say, the 2016 Republican presidential primary is anyone’s race. With no frontrunner and identical numbers for the top five contenders, it’s a horserace which can only be described as a scrambled field – at least so far.”

It's hardly a scheme if its done right...in fact, if its done as a VAT and includes things like import taxes and exemptions for food and utilities for people of a certain income. its about as fair as you can get.

Who pays more with a VAT? The middle class and poor, of course.
Congressional Budget Office:

THE VAT'S DISADVANTAGES Taxing consumption instead of income has disadvantages as well as advantages. Taxing consumption is inherently regressive--that is, the burden of the tax as a share of income is greater for families having lower income. A VAT would be regressive because lower-income families spend more, and save less, of their income. In contrast, exemptions and deductions under the current income tax would insulate lowincome families from most of the burden of an income surtax, making it a fairly progressive tax. Taxing consumption is also inherently costly, both to administer and to comply with, because no general consumption tax currently exists at the federal level in the United States. An income surtax, however, would impose few, if any, additional costs for administration and compliance because it would simply augment an existing source of revenue by raising the tax rate. Thus, a VAT has two disadvantages relative to an income surtax: ~ The costs of administering and complying with a VAT would be substantial--much higher than for a surtax. ~ Compared with a surtax, a VAT would impose a much greater tax burden on the poor.
And:

If the United States had a VAT that was similar to those in Europe, only about a third of U.S. businesses would have to collect the VAT. Under such a VAT, most small businesses (with annual sales below $25,000) and many service businesses (including those providing medical, educational, financial, and charitable services) would be exempt from collecting the tax. Nevertheless, administering the VAT would still cost the federal government about $750 million to $1.5 billion annually, and complying with it would still cost U.S. businesses about $4 billion to $7 billion annually. The substantial administrative and compliance costs of the VAT-- totaling about $5 billion to $8 billion per year--would offset much or all of the economic benefit from the VAT's efficiency advantage over a surtax because the cost of administering and complying with a surtax would be negligible. Although there are ways to design a VAT that would lessen its administrative and compliance costs, most involve unattractive trade-offs with other design objectives such as not taxing business purchases and lessening the VAT's burden on the poor.
This is an old study, but the impact according to the CBO is less tax for the rich, more taxes for the poor and middle class.

I guess you didn't read the part of my post that said EXEMPTIONS
Exempt taxes on the poor below a certain income..or a sliding scale, make the VAT universal on for-profit businesses. How do you tell who is poor when buying something? With a government issued tax status card...
There are MANY ways to implement this successfully, but I guess it's easier to use the ridiculously complicated IRS process and b$tch about the rich...
